Legendary 1830 Vexcalibur mission is too hard even with a 1820 character !!!

Hi there, Not everyone is a youtuber capable of achieving exploits on difficult missions on PC!!! Making the vexcalibur catalyst is way too overdone. 99% of your players are guys who want to relax on your game, not get screwed just 10 below power level. You have to review the difficulty of your missions in mastery. This game has become a laboratory to see how far certain utubers are able to beat your most difficult contests.

    • From the looks of it you're trying to solo content that's made for 3 people. That's the start of your problem. Legend isn't meant to be soloed. Try again with a full fireteam of 3.

      • Pretty sure this is the hardest content in the game right now. Finally did it today with a couple of clan mates after getting dc’d on Brakion yesterday with no option to rejoin my fireteam. We wiped on the last sliver of health of Brakion twice until we stopped being boneheads and used a well. Absolutely brutal… Then we decided to try a Master Spire for some artifice armor (while being under the cap it provides which is 1820… two of us were 1815 maxed out)… it felt easier than Legend Avon. Even though we didn’t complete it… contest RoN was way easier.

Only reason this should be tuned down is cause it is for the catalyst. Everyone should have a chance to get the catalyst but in its current state a lot of people are just not gonna be able to get it. Even im pretty much done with it. I want rank 8 but this quest is far overtuned. Adds should have limited spawns or the level should be dropped to a -10 delta. Just my observation. Catalysts should be accessible to every single player in the game. From the lowest skilled to the highest. If it is apart of an exotic you should be able to obtain it. If people want a bit of challenge i get it but this is just batshit crazy.

        • The scaling is terrible again, easier to do solo than in a group

        • Why bother? Seriously? Games should be fun. This isn't fun. Couldn't be further from it. If you don't enjoy it - don't play it. They will do sth about it, or they won't have a lot of players left several months from now. It's their game, they can do whatever they want with it, but so can you with your time and money. Spend both on sth that's fun and enjoyable.

        • Just like I told someone else who commented on your post I may have completed legendary Avon a few days ago just for the title I really don't care about the catalyst. However you need to keep in mind a lot of people who say get good at the game they need to keep in mind that the new changes are incredibly unbalanced. It reminds me too much of division two 2018 before all the balance patches that took Ubisoft over a year. Even people in the community when I gave them this comparison they told me that they know what I'm talking about that it's not that different from what we have right now on destiny 2 versus 2018 division 2 bullet sponges having too much health and damage to a point where Ubisoft had to make an update to downgrade the health and damage but make it where it was an equal playing field for the players and for the enemies on harder difficulties! Just like how some people on Reddit are saying that they want to see a kinetic buff they think that the enemies should have lower health but my thing is we don't have enough modifiers to benefit us. When you look at the legendary Avon all the modifiers benefit the enemies you don't have surge you don't have overcharge that's why ability spam is the best approach!

        • As a Void Titan running it solo, the only part that felt genuinely unfair to me was the third floor of the final boss. Once his head pops staying alive gets ridiculously difficult.

It is a challenge and feels over tuned. Beat it but I have no desire to do that dumpster fire again. Then you got this other person in here saying legend is easy when they only completed the normal version 😂🤣😂🤣.

          • First time i tried soloing it, i reached the second room after the Hydra Boss’ first phase and gave up. Can’t handle the adds fast enough while having enough heavy for the Boss. Second time, i brought Commemoration and Wish Ender (while the cheese is going on) and got it done. Having a Void Machine for the Minotaurs and Hobgoblins/Goblins makes a huge difference since add control is the most important part of it. I used Voidwalker for that, and after i got Immovable Refit and put it on Vexcalibur, i’m going to be ignoring it. Only want to complete it for the Seasonal Seal tbh

          • I just barely solo’d the regular version and it took me 108 minutes, I just loaded it thinking it would be quick and fun Vex romp to see Asher. Got all the way to the last sliver of health on the final boss then a fanatic got me whilst I was grappling away. Hard is fun don’t get me wrong, I just feel almost 2 hours on a normal exotic mission is a lot, granted I’m not exactly a sweat but still, isn’t that why we have legendary versions? I know they’re trying to find that difficulty zone where it’s challenging but infinite ads whilst trying to understand a puzzle is tricky, it felt like a dungeon, which isn’t bad, but the loot is, maybe some high level drops or secret chests would make it worth the high bar?

I played as a fireteam of 3 and it took us 90 minutes, we were not under levelled beyond whatever it's capped at. The whole "scaled according to fireteam" is ridiculous.. GMs aren't scaled, what's the difference? The Hydra boss room and the final boss room were absolute slogs. Brakion would give us about 10 seconds of DPS before he brought up his shields, followed by 3 minutes of clearing ads to get the symbols, which left us with no heavy/special ammo absolute dogshit experience If more Legend playthroughs are required for the Vexcalibur catalysts then count me out, horrible

            • I consider myself to be an average player so there's no git gud from me but it is possible with the right build. I did it solo (And almost flawless) with a Punchy Hunter at 1806. I'll agree that it is unreasonably difficult and like a few things, I'm annoyed that I've been forced into a certain build to be able to do an activity as a Hunter. Duality when you're on the Psion platforms in the boss room and you have her attention springs to mind. Void invis build for that is the only way to survive. I'd say just experiment with different builds, see what fits your play style and works within the mission itself. Good luck Guardian!

            • Just wanna stop in for my two cents .. First of all, this activity on legend is unreasonably difficult. I failed quite a few times with different groups, different loadouts .. on different days. I took some time off and read everything I could about the boss encounters. Ended up running as a duo with another Starfire Protocol warlock from LFG. Used shatter orbs artifact mod with volatile one and a void smg for a lot of it. Then for bosses just made sure we had a well down as frequently as possible. When we dropped into the hole for the first boss gambit BS we would put a rift on either side and run in circles lol. And for the last boss we did 50% cheese and 50% basically just a minute straight of Well of Radiance. Tldr: I don’t ever want to do this again. I’ve never been so frustrated with a video game. Now that it’s over I am beyond relieved. Nearly gave up but couldn’t let it go.

              • The Legendary difficulty admittedly feels overtuned and should probably be adjusted a bit, however at 1815 as a solo Warlock I have been able to get through the mid boss encounter on Legendary after coming up with a decent build and strategy, allowing me to secure the first two Catalysts to this point: Obviously having a high resilience is a must as the enemies hit hard and fast. Equipping Concussive Dampener and Void Resistance mods helps to mitigate the damage from the Wyverns, while a Sniper Damage Resistance mod helps with the Hobgoblins that appear throughout the encounter. I ran a Well of Radiance Warlock with Healing grenades and Healing Rift; on top of this I comboed Vexcalibur with Karnstein Armlets to get a slow drip of near-constant healing during the mote collecting phase along with on-demand Void Overshielding. I also used Chain of Command with Adrenaline Junkie and Demolitionist as the selected perks. - Starting out the encounter I take out the loitering Harpies with Vexcalibur’s ranged shot to build up the Guard meter, and begin to build up my Void Overshield as the headless Goblins begin to spawn in. Using Vexcalibur’s melee attack to take out the Goblins to obtain the motes, I make sure to begin guarding if my Overshield drops at any point so I can try to get it back up to max with my next Glaive melee kill. Once I have obtained the requisite number of motes I deposit them in the spire (while either guarding with Vexcalibur or dropping a Healing Grenade as needed to endure the Hobgoblin snipers. As soon as the floor gives way and I drop into the hidey-hole I hug the wall and position myself directly opposite of one Hobgoblin sniper so as to take them out with Chain of Command (this reduces the worry of having to deal with the grenades they lob into the hole while helping to restore a small amount of grenade energy for my Healing Grenade if needed). As the timer ticks down to the ten second mark I’ll drop a Healing Rift while continuing to hug the wall as I have Vexcalibur at the ready, using its ranged attack to knock any Wyvern I see off balance to momentarily slow their attack while also having the option to guard and build Overshield if necessary, which pairs nicely with the Rift I place earlier. After dropping through the subfloor I repeat the sequence to spawn the Hydra mid-boss. Before any enemies load in for the damage phase I quickly switch out Karnstein Armlets for Necrotic Grip. This allows me to spread Poison damage to the many Harpies that appear, taking out many of them without too much effort while moving between bits of cover along the lower (outer) ring of the arena. As necessary I will also switch to Chain of Command to drop the yellow bar Harpies that hang out on the raised platforms trying to shoot me from afar. Once enough of the Harpies are cleared I’ll move up toward the inner ring and drop a Well of Radiance to focus damage on the Hydra. Once Well of Radiance fades I drop back down to the outer ring and refocus on clearing Harpies with Vexcalibur and Necrotic Grip until I either have enough breathing room to sneak-shoot the Hydra or have refilled my super to drop another Well of Radiance. Getting the boss through the first damage phase I switch back to Karnstein and collect motes again as before; once both collection phases are over I switch back to Necrotic Grip for the second damage phase. This damage phase is much like the first except with the added wrinkle of a pair of Minotaurs that spawn to rush my position (luckily Vexcalibur makes short work of them). Using the same strategy of clearing Harpies before damage focusing the Hydra I’m able to then clear this encounter as a solo on Legendary. - I’ll close by reiterating that I agree the Legendary version of this mission is overtuned and could do with some tweaking to make it more accessible, however I wanted to share the above strategy so more players would have a chance to make successful pushes for the Vexcalibur Catalysts in the meantime. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
