Tormentors is absolutely broken. People like to complain about champions, but champions can at least be stunned with a single shot and can in most cases be stun locked or die in one stun.
Tormentors can be stunned by either strand tangle or stasis. Stasis isn't as effective since a single shot will break them free.
The reason to why Tormentors are broken and worse than champions is for the fact that.
Their scythe beam can go through objects and have insane tracking, their scythe beam tornado is even worse because it lasts for to long and shots so many beams. They can suppress you and they have a grab mechanic that you can't break free of and it will kill you. The only way to break free is if your teammates shot the tormentor enough for it to let you go. Their grab mechanics can of course also go through objects.
On higher difficulties the health of their shoulders is just ridiculous.
Fix the issue to where both the beam attack and the grab attack can't go through objects and lower the health of their shoulders a bit. Then it would be more acceptable.

Attacks clipping through objects? Can agree. Too much health? Non issue.

The origin trait for all the raid weapons deals extra damage to tormentors and lucent hive. Maybe you should grab the linear and trace rifle so that you are better prepared to deal with Tormentors.

Edited by John Marston: 3/16/2023 7:18:33 PMi'd chalk it up to the level design more than anything else granted ive so far only played the campaign but the tormentor encounters there were just cage matches where you run circles around them for 5 minutes

Edited by KSquared02: 3/16/2023 7:16:15 PMRegular tormentors are a joke and the boss ones are nothing more than a nuisance. It’s very easy to ignore them while clearing ads and then 1v1 them while moving and using terrain as you take their health down. They barely bother you if you don’t take out their shoulders and they don’t handle change in elevation well. The only time they are dangerous is if the environment allows you to go off the edge as they can suppress you and knock you off. I’m actually pretty disappointed in them as enemies. They freaked me out the first time I encountered them and then I realized they weren’t that bad a few missions later. Strand made the normal ones a joke after getting suspend grenades. Leading up to release bungie made them sound like this absolute terror but even on legendary they aren’t bad except in the final fight because of level design.

A tough miniboss enemy turns out to be a tough miniboss enemy? This is outrageous.

2 RepliesCongrats, you just found out that they are not just simple enemies that you can ignore if you feel like it. They are made to kill us. Its supposed to be a Challenge to face one. While i can understand the issue of stuff going through walls and what not, that won't make that much of a difference in the grand scheme. And yes, in higher difficulties they have more boss-armor. Because they shouldnt be a push-over enemy like a stunned champ

Yeah, they're awesome. Tormentors are a great addition

Haha I’d rather face champs over torment. I finally found my worst nightmare in destiny.
