Difficulty spike is ridiculous

Been playing since taken king & I'd really like to enjoy the game I just spent $100 on but it's completely ruined by how high u have increased difficulty. For the elitists complaining previously about difficulty, they could've just used different load outs to handicap themselves if they're just so bored by fun builds & weapons rather than making it unplayable for so many. It isn't fun & there's so many ways ppl could play to increase the difficulty for themselves but instead u cater to them & ruin the experience for the rest of us. Also story missions where u get to try strand r bugged & super bar goes back to zero when u die & randomly so its rare u even get to use it.

  • Thing is all bungie had to do was add more difficulty options and increase the rewards for them Instead they gave everybody the middle finger, and it feels like they lowered the reward payouts for the same tier content. It's ridiculous.

  • There is nothing outside of legendary lost sectors that feels bad to play as long as you put 5 minutes into making a build for your character. I cleared the Avalon mission in 45 minutes because I used wavesplitter and a rocket launcher. I turned the whole room purple and had unlimited heavy ammo. Anyone mentioned threshers, I hear you, those are bad but patrol and strikes feel so much more engaging than before

    My favourite part of the game right now is being cross mapped by a thresher ship on neomuna whilst I'm trying to climb up high to collect items like apogees for a bounty. Then being respawned back where I was earlier. Soooo satisfying.

    • Challenging, but I had to make use of a solid void Hunter build that promotes invisibility and volatile rounds to run through everything.

    • Have you played the raid? Bungie definitely didn't catere to those that wanted harder content. We wanted harder raids and dungeon not harder patrol and lost sectors.

      • One important thing that's almost always forgotten by the elitists who either play this game for a living, or live in their parents basements and don't have to work, is that the majority of the player base are the very "filthy casuals" that they're always telling to "just git gud". We have lives outside of Destiny, and we can't dedicate all our time and energy to grinding and getting all the exotics and god rolls needed for the game to feel as "easy" for us as it does for them. Too much difficulty increase, especially at the lower end, also further worsens an already terrible new player experience. Destiny is notorious for having one of the worst new player experiences in gaming, and from what I've heard, it's gotten a lot worse with the difficulty increase from Lightfall. Keep in mind that most of these new players still only have blue gear, no exotics, and incomplete subclasses. If they try to start playing a game that has little to no tutorial, and now also feels like "Space Dark Souls", most of them aren't gonna want to stick around. And without new players, the game won't be able to grow, or even maintain its population, leading to it actually turning into a dying game, as opposed to just a "dYiNg GaMe".

Bungie themselves stated a few years back that game will get more complex and hardcore in the coming years.

          • Heres my two cents. Is the game unplayably hard now? No. Because of how well equipped we are these days with ridiculous survivability, ad clear, and dps capabilities, you can kit yourself out to be able to handle the new difficulty still pretty easily. The problem is, the extra amount of effort for the same loot as before is jarring. You get the same proportions of loot but now you have to go in with a lot more effort put forth in terms of your gameplay and your loadout which is frustrating, especially considering playlist activities like strikes and seasonal battlegrounds used to be a place to comfortably go and level up guns or something. Like for example for the earth defiant battleground you basically have to use a void primary if you dont want to spend half of every clip just breaking the shields of every single acolyte. Again, is the game unplayably hard, no. But I think the diffiulty is out of balance. Too much extra effort and attention required for nothing in return

            • They should do more difficulty tiers like world tiers from outriders or something like that maybe not with better gear like level wise maybe just better drops or something this would make both groups happy I'd think

              Bruh finish the story lol... once you do in legend (which is super easy lol) it will get you to 1770... then you can do the other stuff. We were doing the raid and a dude joined that didnt even finish the story. He was 1740 trying to raid lol

              • Yeah, we're not going to handicap ourselves because you think the games too hard. Easy =/= fun. This goes for modes, BUILDS, missions, raids, etc.

                • Here is a tip… run double special weapon and a machinegun. You will get ungodly heavy drops for ammo and it would allow you to MG everyone like you are Rambo and not worry about ammo. And when your low…. Boom special weapon time. Work best if your special and heavy are void due to the artifact mod that gives you free heavy drops on void kills

                • The game isn’t hard, but the enemies are bullet sponges, and having enemies who are bullet sponges isn’t a good substitute for challenging the players, it just adds frustration to the game. We needed smarter AI, not the same dumb ones with more health points. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels annoyed when shooting an enemy in the face and it just moves up to your face to try and swipe at you even though it’s going to die because you were shooting it in the face, but now they have way more health and do swipe at you two times nearly killing you as you have to back off, remember you have a cool down when you perform a melee, enemy AI doesn’t.

                      D2 did need changes to some difficulty, buuuttttt...... They made the game feel BAD over all. They need to revert an go back to the drawing board if they ever went to the drawing board in the first place. One change for 90% of people that would have been great, assuming they left "difficulty" alone would have been to keep Adept and add 15% more enemy health for the new players and ADD MATCHMAKING to legendary!!! This needed tweaks and not a giant sponge thrown on top.

                    • I like the spike in how difficult content is, it really allows my builds to shine. In the past there too much of a point to build craft. I’d thrown on said busted exotic weapon or armor and turn off my brain
