74 year old gamer who’s had enough
My son tells me that Destiny 2 is the worst game he’s ever played. Apparently it’s been this bad for many years and isn’t ever going to change. Unfortunately, he was compelled by demons to purchase the Lightfall deluxe edition and finds himself trapped in an endless cycle of torture and misery.
My daughter-in-law informs me that Bungie used to be an actual developer who actually cared, but is now staffed entirely by 3 business school graduates who work from home in their pyjamas. The lying and the deception of these 3 individuals makes my blood boil.
Consequently, the very first words my grandchildren uttered were: ‘git gud’, ‘mad cos bad’ and ‘KWTD’. You can imagine our horror. Thankfully, they have since been well educated and are currently organising a boycott of future Bungie games.
In other news, our dog refuses to eat and just lies in the corner whimpering about the Veil. I don’t care how good Strand is; that ain’t right.
Is this what gaming has become in 2023? For me, it’s unacceptable and I’d like to speak with the manager, please.

The choices they have made have not been ones I agree with, so I'll just keep buying their product even though I hate it and hate them. I've ended up in a place where I buy every piece of content just to prove myself right so I can then complain about it to hundreds of thousands of strangers on the internet. That'll show em! Even the squirrels that live in the trees in my garden hate Bungie.

Since Bungie starts development 3/4 months before release, pre-orders will be the only means to shift the over-delivering benchmark, or not. Words mean nothing if not followed by actions.

1 ReplyThis is either serious or very good sarcasm, either way I'm into it. The gameplay mechanics are honestly the only thing I stick around for anymore. I had a little hope after WQ that the story was coming back together, but man, after this update... what a load of utter nonsense. The randomness of it is just baffling, and not in a way I want to figure out, but more like I want to forget it ever happened. If I play Destiny at all, it'll be because the running and shooting feels good. Sadly the things we do while we run and shoot are just laughably bad.

The more money involved, the worse it gets. Think anybody is going to give CD Projekt Red a pass after the 2077 fiasco? Hell no. Think EA ever gets the message and actually attempts to improve its flagship franchises like Madden? Absolutely not. The people that made games, that cared about their product, reputation and the customer? Dead or retired. The industry is chock full of buzz-word spewing MBA dipshits who care only about appeasing investors and their own pocket linings. Gone are the days when a name meant something as far as a developer is concerned or a game franchise. Know what made Madden awesome? Competition. The very instant EA figured out minimal cut/paste effort was all they needed to sell that game went to absolute -blam!-. And don’t even bother trying to appeal to the NFL about EA’s below substandard quality, they’re even WORSE! I could name 2 dozen games twenty years ago that were no-brainers on wether to buy or not. Today? Maybe 1 or 2? Like the old rap song goes; Mo’ money, mo’ problems.

It's all lies and PR at this point. You either put up with it, revisit when it's good or do yourself a favor and quit entirely.
