Who was asking for one shot simulator? (Mainly Nightfalls)

At least regarding ourselves and not enemies we shoot for fun, lol. Like seriously, what's going on? I knew most of the "difficulty changes" were just inflating and deflating numbers to make things more miserable, but I didn't anticipate they'd find this one shot simulator acceptable. I'm just doing Hero Nightfalls mate. And "abusing" very sustainable builds like Voidwalker and Sunbracers Dawnblade with Ember Of Resolve. And yet everything kills me with but a sneeze. What the hell is happening? I'm allegedly only capped 5 below light level with this activity. Which granted is stupid to begin with because Strikes aren't fine tuned for Light level disadvantage to begin with. It's just another way of tuning things even harsher against us. On top of what they already did with upping enemy health bars this update. Many guns feel worse than ever in these PvE activities. Ironically we need to lean harder into ability spam than ever before. Which given the stat nerfs; I'm pretty sure is unintentional. I'd love to incorporate use of my guns more into my gameplay, I really would. And with Voidwalker I already do frankly. Same as Striker Titan pre heart Of Inmost Light dumpstering. Ironically both ability spamming builds regularly incorporated guns in them. But you killed one flavor of Strker Titan at least, and left Voidwalker alone because ... Void is seasonal and Arc isn't? That aside, as I could complain about ability cooldowns too, how is one shot sim fun? Even when I'm rocking woven mail with Strand enemies are hot knives through butter when they attack me. Forcing me to play stupid cautiously like I'm playing a generic shooter with no abilities. A generic ability-less shooter with underpowered guns. I'm all for more enemy variety. I'm all for needing to do different builds based on the enemies I'm facing etc. But the game feels like I need to be more ability spammy than ever if I want to survive. And lots of exotic armor pieces are still useless. The new Strand Warlock boots particularly being hilariously dreadful. **One** weak Threadling, which just unravels as our Warlock Strand melee already does, for shooting a Tangle? WOW. Amazing. I mean yeah, it's probably one of the best subclasses for Osteo Striga Necrotic Grips now, in spite of the pitiful Suspending Radius for how spread out enemy mobs seem to be in new activities. But it's good in Nightfalls, so that's good. I just want to be able to farm enhancement cores man. And unless you allow them to be easily farmable with normal playlist activities, including but not limited non-Nightfall Strikes, then this is frankly just unacceptable. Super big side note, but does anyone even care about the darkness backpacks? They give pitiful overshields that don't do squat and seemingly nothing else. Don't even hinder my ability reduction or lower my damage output when I'm in the radius. Or do anything cool like the Lucent Hive. A new flavor of difficulty that isn't artificial brutal scaling and it seems like it's nonexistent. Really the most annoying thing about them is my Hunter can target them as a grapple melee target even when I don't want them to. And killing the backpacks with grapple melee is incompatible with all grenade and melee kill mods. Super annoying if the grapple melee's splash damage doesn't kill anything and I wasn't even aiming for the backpack. That's about the most frustration they bring though. And that one doesn't even feel intentional. Please, please reconsider this horrid scaling. Or at least make Enhancement Cores a steady drop throughout all activities so I don't have to slave away popping Devour pills or Orb of Power healing pills all day just to still die 60% of the time from an enemy sneezing too hard. Or you could do what you're very afraid of for some reason. Buff guns at their base. Especially primaries. P.S. Why do Hero Nightfalls, which are 5 behind recommended light level, so much worse with one shots than the legendary campaign, which is 15 behind light level with the cap? Something about that doesn't add up ... And don't even try to tell me the difference is enemy density. The enemy density in the campaign gets quite high as well.

  • It now feels like I'm waiting for damage phases in lost sectors and nightfalls against yellow bars out of fear that peaking for half a second from behind whatever object is currently acting as a barricade will result in a cross-map one shot from a psion.

    Answer to your title question: Entitled streamers. It's that simple. Those clowns represent an elitist community thats either unemployed or has no private life. Those kids obviously want more challenge and grind. Bungie catering to that obnoxious minority playerbase is giving me signs. Those signs are not good. I don't like the current dev team at all. They are fake, entitled and love their little content creators. Might wanna shift your priorities towards the massive majority of players...

        I know the streamer fans like to witch hunt people who say this, but the answer is streamers. Go look at any of their Twitter feeds. Nerf div, nerf resilience, nerf warlock fusion nades, make activities harder, nerf HoiL, make day 1 raids harder, make everything harder, nerf community-favorite guns and abilities. The list never ends. The reason why is because the harder the game is, the more "watchable" it becomes, which equals more money for streamers. Their wants do not reflect the player base, it reflects their business interests. They don't want their fans, subscribers, or anyone else to play the game, they want those people to watch. The difficulty spike is no doubt a product of streamer feedback, because nobody asked for legend nightfalls at 20 light over cap when GMs were only 15 a season ago, a change that was widely applauded by the player base. This is utter nonsense, and it's so much harder to help my casual friends get through some of this stuff now

        • If I wanted a game that would make shaving my scrotum with a rusty spork more appealing, I’d grab Dark Souls or the like. Destiny is made for the power trip and being able to jump in, shoot aliens in the face with fun guns and leave. Bungie, drop the sadism, bring back the fun.

            People who are too afraid to play another game say a souls game so they gotta bring the difficulty here because once again they don't understand there are other games out there catered to high difficulty gameplay. I know the same can be said for the other side of the argument but you do realize what tyoe of game destiny is supposed to be right. Not an easy game but not a difficult one either.

          • I will quote a nice smart colleague of mine. He is super talented and successful in his line of work but is currently working on a lowfi simple project where his skills are mostly useless as nothing much he can do about the challenges as they are out of his scope of work. I asked him, why is he doing this? His simple answer was that there is nothing else to do so he gave himself an artificial challenge. After 30 mins of arguments (believe me this guy is as good as they make them at Harvard so arguments are tough), I convinced him that this won't contribute to his life or career and someone has sold him snake oil. He had been brain washed into the mentality of making low hanging fruits tougher to get to keep him hooked to a trivial thin under his skillset. At the same time, it made things difficult for everyone else because of unnecessary complications that were introduced to keep him hooked. I think there is something similar happening in Bungie and D2 now.

          • Got to love massively increased difficulty, with even less rewards for people now, just because of how long everything takes at this point. With the backpacks though, I wasn't fully paying attention, but I think anything with Turnabout activates on those as well, which would actually be a good benefit. I believr Graviton was activating overshield on those. Haven't played since days ago for one mission. If I could muster the desire to even play now, I'd go test this out for sure, but I think my time in Destiny is about done. I really don't want to deal with this nonsense bullsh*t; just completely turned off of everything but basic stuff, and even that's a chore now. I'll see though. Not a definitive, just letting the natural thoughts take their course, see where it goes.

          • If I had to guess it’s a psychological thing. Studies show the more time, energy and challenge you put into obtaining anything then the more people form a higher value or attachment to it. Say I give you 10 dollars for free the theory stipulates that you will be more likely to spend it faster than a person who I paid 10 dollars for an hour of work. This doesn’t work on everyone. It’s just a higher correlation that this will happen. Bungie is under the belief that this will work with gamers and they will be more attached to the game than before but may lose 10-30% but the remaining players will be more devoted to the game and spend more to play it. So the end result is less work for the same outcome of profit.

              Streamers wanted this, and if they want it, that’s what they get. There’s the occasional s!mp on here also praising the changes but Bungie isn’t listening to them. The only way these changes will be toned down is if the population drops enough, and that’s been known to happen. It was the same thing with sunsetting. Bungie seemed confident it was a good change, despite all the warnings from the actual community to the contrary, went ahead with it and the population absolutely plummeted. Even then there were a few delusional wretches defending it but as we all know, sunsetting didn’t last long.

            • I tried to solo flawless bunker E15 today, probably the easiest lost sector in the game to solo flawless pre lightfall. Now, everything is a one shoting bullet sponge, especially overload champs if not all champs and even suspending everything, taking my time, using the right elements and stuns, healing rift, 1805, I get one shot through a wall by the cyclops if I can even get that far without being 2 shot by rank and file enemies, its seems impossible and its REQUIRED to advance my rank? What in the hell are you thinking bungie? Are only elitists going to get to advance their rank? How the hell am I going grind for exotics for my warlock if the easiest lost sector is now this stupid?
