Opinion on difficulty changes

I completed multiple day 1 raids, GM's seals, raid seals, etc. I think some of the difficulty changes are done without thinking. Like what is the point of master nightfalls if they aren't much different than GM's, like what is the point of -20 on master? -15 on legend isn't really that harder, but you done something with scoring, dares of eternity takes like additional 5 mins on boss rooms, because you don't have enough points, same with nightfalls and story missions. Do something with scoring and do something with rewards in nightfalls, why not giving a guaranteed nightfall weapon on master difficulty? If GM's are just 5 light lower and it gives guaranteed adept weapon, what is the point of master then? Edit: I agree on legend difficulty, it's not much really harder than before in most activities, but you are now very limited in terms of weapons you can use and it takes more time. And Mars Battleground shows that you just added them in nightfall rotation without playtesting. I'm still not going to run legend nightfalls because they are still worthless, but now they are harder. Going to stick to GM's if I want something from nightfall weapons I think if your system is going to stay legend should be -10, master -15 and GM's should stay at -25. Otherwise then I'm going to hit pinnacle cap on every character and complete required challenges/triumphs I'm going to stop playing most of legend/master content because there is just no point to do them. You really need to hire someone with experience in MMORPG development, because loot system is very strange and outdated in most activities.

  • That's the thing though bungee never thinks remember the sunset system Yeah man you're not the only one there are tons of game journalists who were saying the exact same thing as you are.. however the biggest thing that they point out that the issue is balanced not the difficulty enemies have way too much benefit over the players more health more damage they have modifiers that can increase their overall defense like crazy when you combine multiplicity with iron.. I just think we need to have more modifiers active that can give us more of a survivability in that kind of situation the difficulty doesn't need to be reverted it needs to be reworked! https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2023/03/08/did-bungie-make-destiny-2-too-hard-with-lightfall/ Anybody can make a good build but the problem is if there's modifiers active that will make your enemies much more stronger than you regardless of your build there is clearly a balance issue. We had that same issue with division 2 when legendary difficulty was first introduced Ubisoft literally had to make at least 10 hot fixes just to improve balance just to make legendary difficulty playable! They also have the same issue as well constant bullet sponges but division 2 doesn't have infinite ammo so if that kind of mindset it was much worse with division two. You could even check out Reddit people are saying the exact same stuff that you are saying and many others are saying but the key is always balanced there's not enough balance nobody likes the way the difficulty is but people like surge and overcharge. Supposedly people are saying that it might get better if bungee buffs the base damage of primary weapons that basically having 25% increase damage with surge is not enough!

  • I don't know if it was my team yesterday, or just the difficulty increase, but I HATED the Mars Battleground Nightfall. It took 15 minutes, just to reach the 3rd tower at the beginning and I could not justify participating any further. I quit, I switched to Battlefield and I may try again today and see, but I'm pretty turned off of it. It does not seem like its worth the trouble. We had three, and this was just basic hero level Nightfall and enemies are infinite, yet even the Thrall take forever to kill, at the proper 1760 level, and we couldn't keep up, not to mention nobody could focus the Unstoppable, but I think I was the only one stunning the d*mn thing. All it did was just glanced me with the eye blast and it was instant death. I died like 5 times just on the unstoppable. It was ridiculous. I'm hoping it was just a bad team matchup, but they seemed like they were trying, though I think I was the only one really equipped, but it just wasn't happening. I don't know, what are other experiences with this Battlegrounds?

    I feel the difficulty has swung entirely in the other direction and its far from unplayable but the whiplash is very much felt. While strikes aren't inherently harder at base it has made anything beyond hero a slog due to the negative power modifer that your forced into. I'm also not a fan of neomuna being a permanent -10 and the massive increase in power difference for lost sectors one being a patrol zone where most are just trying to do their activities and chill not get melted in 5 seconds by a wyvern or scorpion tank because you didnt move in half a second. Lost sectors least on normal should not have such a power demand are they possible yes but why is it 1830 and not 1800. A overload champion healing their dmg while still hitting me for revenge damage despite being stunned is bs and if your hit by a aoe envioement damage with the burn your melted in half a second

    • Here’s my problem with heist battlegrounds; they are designed as seasonal stuff, three months and not that much difficulty, the problem lies that these maps are also really poorly designed, in the boss room there is 0 cover what do ever and no places to really get away, with so many ads there is nothing you can do besides fight it out and pray that you do not die, it is disgusting

      Reducing guardian power and resilience and, at the same time, making combatants much stronger is simply said the laziest way to increase the difficulty. The game now is not more challenging in a fun way it's just more annoying and frustrating. Activities that used to be a breeze are not doable anymore. Difficulty levels were already there, and they could have been slightly tweaked or they could have added some selectable modifiers for elite players looking for a challenge. But nooo they have to ruin the game for casual players...

    • Multiple conqueror here. The game is not fun anymore. Gm was a good challenge but capping light in seasonal and exotic missions and now Master content is just not it. It seemed good on paper but experiencing it is terrible. But they always listen to world champ raiders and content creators instead of the Full community.

    • My opinion of he game right now can be summed easily . My character is in the helm , I’m here enjoying the forum posts . Week 2 of a new dlc year the forums are more fun then the game .

      • Beyond that, I can't be the only one that enjoyed playing through fairly-easy content and just having fun. Now I'm slogging through things and as soon as I accomplish my goal, I plan to *not* play that stuff again until I absolutely need to. Strikes and Nightfalls went from something that I did a ton of to something that I'm doing the absolute minimum of. And today I find that at 1812 light, Legendary Lost Sectors now feel almost impossible again. I did one solo, but it was horrible. It used to be something I'd do repeatedly for the loot. I struggled a bit back then, but it was manageable. I could even do Master back then, but it wasn't fun. I'm very much wondering if I'm going to enjoy this year of Destiny, or if I'm going to quit again and try to find something else.

        • Opinion? These changes will wreck the replay ability of this game overall (slogfest), and a lot of activities will not be accessible to casual players…EVER. Someone please explain how this is good for the game moving forward?

It's your bog standard garbage or gold (somewhere like 98% garbage, 2% gold) system, but it's the progression. I grind pinnacles so I have a fighting chance at an activity, but even over time I can't overlevel so I feel like my guardian got stronger? And yeah, you know, all the stuff you said about the mid level difficulties being useless now. This is probably the most confused I've seen the game identity wise. WTF are we even playing anymore?

              • This new "version" of destiny is just complete unfiltered -blam!-. I am willing to bet my life that Lightfall was originally designed as a season that Bungie slapped a story onto and called an annual DLC. Nah, I want a refund. I slogged through legend campaign, which was the biggest pile of flaming dogshit I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I've gone from planning my time after work to play an hour or two of Destiny, to trying to put off as many chores as I can, so I have an excuse NOT TO PLAY DESTINY. -blam!- YOU, -blam!- YOUR ARTIFICIALLY DIFFICULT -blam!-, AND I HOPE YOUR ENTIRE COMPANY GOES BANKRUPT. You haven't made a decent decision since Reach, stop making games, you aren't even -blam!- mediocre anymore, you pathetic embarrassment.

                Just tried the new defiance battleground and it made me close the app after getting lag yeeted multiple times and everybody dying at final boss phase multiple times. It's ridiculous, too many enemies in too little enclosed spaces with majors that eat entire supers and spit out the area damage and kill you. -blam!- this -blam!-

              • Plenty of high level experience Gotta say the jump from Hero to Legend is pretty jarring right now. And like you said there doesn't really seem to be any reason for to run Master content that aren't Dungeon/Raids. Lost Sectors lost a lot of appeal for me, going from a fun brain-off time trial to a slog, maybe they'll feel better after more leveling tho The worst offense for this new system to me tho is languishing primary archetypes. Tried Legend Proving Grounds with Round Robin and had an awful plink-plonk time. Feels like you're required to use Scouts, Bows, SMGs, Sidearms, or an Exotic Primary if you want a weapon that doesn't take an eternity to kill a minor enemy

              • My whole thing is that they had four tiers of difficulty for Nightfall. Why did they feel the need to raise difficulty across all tiers? Last year had it good.

                • It’s even worse in legend dares. Scales to number of players. People hated this stuff in borderlands and opted to mostly solo because of it. I dunno why Bungie thought it was a good idea.

                • I'm glad you mentioned the score system.. My fire team ran a 1770 nightfall last week to check out the difficulty level, we all were about 1780 odd power. We steam rolled it and got a score of about 107 k, then jumped into a story mission and struggled to hit 60 k on the same level 1770. We loaded up the 1830 version and had to slog our way through it and Bearley made the 100k we was 100270. I no there was less enemy density but there was far more yellow bars, some of the numbers coming up for kills we're atrocious. We actually thought it might be bugged.

                  Instead of a guaranteed drop they should just bring skeleton keys back along with more strike specific weapons n armour

                • Weird my experience hasn't changed Still all feels the same as before the changes. Maybe that's just due to how many broken builds we have and with strand being op in pve.

                  • The LL change for “difficulty” did make GMs less unique in LLs but it still got extinguished though so there’s that. Also, we got Legend/Legendary difficulty which got similar LL restriction but Legendary makes enemies tanks in a team and Legend is the same as NFs so they’re familiar already.
