The people that wanted higher difficulty are not playing on the lower difficulties. They'll be aiming for the higher difficulty tiers, and so any changes made to cater to them should be localised to the gamemodes they favour. The changes, as they are, have made the lower difficulty levels tedious and frustrating far more than they've introduced 'challenge'.
The people that were complaining that Grandmaster Nightfalls were too easy are not going to be sticking around in Adept Nightfalls for example, so there's no reason for Adept to be made more difficult. Just revert it, but leave high difficulty activities with the increased difficulty.

It is absolute garbage now . I can run master level activities and I'm a gilded conqueror, the streamers have nothing on me or many of us. But this is just not fun anymore . There is a time for high level activities and we all gear up for GM's those that run them. But just playing a hero mode strike has turned into a chore depending how many times people leave trying to finish one. How is this remotely good for anything. Its not fun and a waste of your time not having fun!. Could someone at bungie please explain to us how we are to enjoy playing this nonsense ??? I sincerely feel bad for the new players and have carried many through just a basic hero strike. Its over kill bungie please tone it down and adjust it so all players have fun. Not just the 10% who run raids and the video streamers trying to make a buck off your company.

Legendary lost sectors are not a fun grind at all now. The champions are ridiculous.
-
26 RepliesThe difficulty increase just sort of made everything tedious instead of fun. Strikes now tend to feel like a slog, the seasonal activity feels like it drags because of yellow bar enemies, and it was just stupid to up the challenge of legendary lost sectors when they are how you’re supposed to get the exotics and require grinding.

Yes, they have taken all the fun out of the game for me!

Edited by Guardian0605: 3/7/2023 2:17:38 AMThe only thing I don't like about the increased difficulty is that enemies are just bullet sponges now. I am fine with them killing me faster. It means I have to prioritize certain enemies and use the map to my full advantage. I don't like that we now have to use so much ammo just to kill red bars. That is an uninteresting way to increase difficulty. Once you die during an activity enough you start to learn the patterns of how enemies spawn, which enemies will push up on you and which will stay back. So now it's just an exercise in patience of finding safe spots to run between as you focus down certain enemies and have to spend forever killing them. This is not fun or interesting game play. It doesn't give any sort of power fantasy. We can still feel powerful and have difficult content. It doesn't have to be one or the other. The nerf to our ability up time (though you can still have almost constant up time) and most players having their preferred builds removed means that Bungie both decreased our power and increased the enemies power. It doesn't seem like that was game play tested very well. The increased difficulty would probably feel much better if our abilities still felt as powerful against the enemies. Edit: additionally if they are going to keep difficulty this way they should bring back adept as the 1770 difficulty and then make heroic like 1800. A 60 power level gap between heroic and legend seems extreme.

3 RepliesThe Neomuna destination enemy damage and enemy resilience needs to be scaled down a bit. This is patrol. Not a legendary activity. This fixed difficulty or -10 is honestly a joke as far as I’m concerned. 1830 recommended to do a legendary NF? Really? Why so high? Do this addt’l difficulty, -10 to -25 activity scaling on all Master and GM content. Put everything that is Legendary difficulty or lower back to how it was before LF dropped. I’m sick of the tedious/monotonous bullet sponge adds scattered throughout the new destination. Game is starting to remind me of the Division. A friggin cover shooter. You know that guy with the hoodie where it took 3 clips from your sub machine gun to kill? How realistic right? What’s wrong with wrecking the adds on low level content?

16 RepliesOk I know this may be a stupid gripe but. I dont have time to grind destiny 6 hours a day and the 12 hours a day in the weekend not like I issued to. But I do like playing as much as I can. I like strand so I was excited for the new titan boots. Solo a lost sector, no problem, done it many times. Then I saw 1830 🤦♂️. I’m 1761 and I played a little more than usual. So now o can’t get a piece of exotic gear that technically I paid for?
-
Who doesn't enjoy more bullet sponges in every activity now 🙄

6 RepliesPlayed 1 nightfall on hero, used lmg and void to get modifier bonuses, takes a whole lmg mag to down 3 enemies. Both team mates got 1 shot by the boss probably 10 times each. 25 min for a hero nightfall and 0 loot. Promptly found the “exit to desktop” button right after completing it. It’s never been more obvious bungie doesn’t play or test destiny 2 releases.

1 ReplyThe contest modifyer on strikes is hilarious .. who looked a those horribly old strike playlist and said „you know what would be great here ? When all enemies would be overlevelled!“

I'd rather they revert ALL of the difficulty changes and fix the "actual" problems that were in place before. The season-to-season reset, and overtuned subclass 3.0 verbs. As many others have stated, the game feels more-so of a slog now with combatants being bullet sponges in so many regards. Honestly, when I want to fight bullet sponge enemies and to play tactically the entire time, I can just boot up The Division. But when I hop on D2, I'm mainly looking to have fun with overpowered "space magic". Sure, a challenge here and there is fun, and the way it was done before was almost perfect. Are people overreacting to the base strike playlist, sure, that I can agree with. But having patrol be Legend difficulty, and having all Legend/Master content be forced contest mode at all times is not challenging or fun, it's uninventive artificial difficulty. The thing that made D2 fun for the past few years was outside of GMs (And that was also fine, as I said a challenge sprinkled around is good, but not the entire game), you could actually spend the time to gear up, make use of the seasonal mods and buildcrafting to not only show mastery over the content, but be rewarded for your playtime investment with less of a "hill to climb" to achieve success in this level of content, it gave purpose to your player's power. Now, not is there only no incentive to engage with the content at that level because of the much higher entry point skill-wise, there is also no incentive to continue engaging with the game throughout the season to build up your power. All of last year was a week-to-week process where I'd do the seasonal story, then hop into strikes and bounties to gear up and power up to engage with the Master tier content, and to help others do the same. Now? I see no purpose to doing anything other than the seasonal story each week and maybe a ritual activity here or there. Endgame wise, I see no point to Legend or Master content, and I'm probably just going to ignore it in favor of GMs to gild conquerer again, and then I'm out for the rest of the season. The bigger problems that really needed fixing were the pinnacle RNG drops overlaid on-top of the seasonal reset in which players were knocked out of the endgame at the end of a season. If Bungie would have just left difficulty alone and proceeded with this one pinnacle grind for the entire year, that would have been a major step in the right direction for this problem, tuning down the artifact XP requirements would have also helped a little bit. As for the other problem of people "blowing through" the normal content, that would just have required hitting things like Jolt and Trinity Ghoul to make them less dominant in low-level activities. All I see the changes doing is just driving a much larger wedge through the community in terms of player engagement and retention. Low-to-mid skill tier players have already been posting here and on reddit in troves complaining about Legend Lost Sectors and Patrol difficulty, these players are most at risk of just leaving the game altogether which hurts player retention and engagement numbers on Bungie's end. Sure, while higher skilled players are likely fine, a number of them will be like me, where there is just no longer a point to engage outside of a few bits and pieces here, which also, hurts engagement numbers. And so, my one suggestion? Full revert.

Revert it period. It doesn’t even apply to grand master. Master was a good balance before.
-
Every enemy is a sponge.

8 RepliesThe people that want higher difficulty simply don't want anyone else playing period. It's never been about actual difficulty. It's always been about exclusivity.

2 RepliesWent into the weekly battlegrounds playlist today and joined a game in progress, two blueberries at final boss fight from last weeks EDZ mission, the one with Cabal slug launcher boss and you go from Well "safe" area to other "well safe" area. Proceeded to spend next 6 minutes rezzing them as they were being one shot every 5 seconds. They weren't going out to get Taken motes the witches drop, either because they didn't know or everytime they did they knew death was inevitable, It was brutal, zero fun, the dead ghosts screen will be this seasons motif. And IF all 3 go down we wipe. When it ended I saw the total time was near 40 minutes. 40 !! 40 minutes for 1 playlist activity. That's worse than some GMs, I saw streamers do a GM few weeks ago in 10 minutes. The disconnect between god streamers and pros and casual dads with an hour each night to play is wild. so Bungie you may wanna look into this, because that's a brutal experience and many folks dont have that much time for a "normal" mode playlist, go ahead and have that for Legend mode or GM triple skulls modes, but normal...... eh not great

2 RepliesOkay so... I've just finished this weeks NF on legend difficulty with two other guys (if you're reading this, you are legends, pun not intented, and thanks to you I managed to have fun with it). If this is legend then I'm definitely skipping grandmaster. First of all I do enjoy challenge. I got into grandmasters and master raids I think a year ago, take or add some months to it, not really sure. I had fun since PvE-wise I had nothing else to do and these things were what I needed to keep me going, it was whole process of getting there with right gear and right power level. It was, for me personally, good balance between challenge and casual game that I consider Dstiny to be (or should I use past tense). So I enjoyed hopping in after work to do few grandmasters at the end of the season. Now it feels like it all doesn't matter. I'm permanently stuck in contest mode, even in patrol zone which is complete head-scratcher for me and it makes Neomuna exploration unfun or straight up frustrating (I'm looking at you thresher at zephyr concourse) where I can die to single red bar enemy. Secondly, I believe it was said many, MANY times but bullet sponges are not fun. Can I make it through activity with those? Sure can. Was it fun? No, it was artificialy prolonged, boring and tedious. Wanna make bosses more tanky? I'd say go for it, within some reasonable values, but don't make me use several special ammo shots for red bars. Lastly (I could probably write a book at this point about problems with Lightfall, but I'll try to keep it relatively short) I'm going to go back to what started this post - this week's NF. Absolutely worst NF experience I've ever had. I don't think there was any GM that was harder than that. 12 champions in boss room in Glassway? No problem. Room full of knights shooting at me with boomer at Lightblade? Let's do it. Playing heist as NF at Legend or higher? I'll pass. Spamming enemies, because this is literally BATTLEGROUND doesn't work for activities like that. When one is going to capture C there are acolytes, phanlaxes, knights, thralls spawning. And even thralls can 2-tap player at t10 res there, with 15 Power Level difference. Add to that homing missiles from phanlaxes, burn from knights and getting sniped by acolytes. All at once, all with different shield types. This is not fun and has shown me that Bungie did not test this at all because if someone would play it they'd maybe realize it's bad idea. TL;DR Artificially increasing numbers of everything pretending it's difficulty is bad idea and poor execution. That being said I think all changes should be reverted and I'm down for PROPERLY increased difficulty in SOME activities in the future.

or you can just git gut and stop playingtutorial

18 RepliesEdited by Infamous067: 3/6/2023 9:48:15 PMThe “difficulty” is actually the same exact difficulty or at least a little easier than destiny 1 lol. You guys would’ve hated D1, any veteran destiny 1 player will tell you about those 2-3 hour nightfalls. The game is currently fine, you just cant go around doing whatever you want, learn to use cover and stop expecting to be a walking god everywhere you go. It makes enemies redundant if they cant even break your shield. Also have you guys leveled up to 1800 at the very least? Neomuna becomes just as easy as any other patrol zone the second you hit that level and so does the end game content.

4 RepliesEdited by DrMcnugget1: 3/8/2023 8:58:39 AMThey couldn't care less about their players, unless you're a streamer. I was trying to do just a public event earlier with four other people and we couldn't get it done because it says you need to be 1810 light level when the soft cap is 1750 that's absolutely absurd. Then any boss just Stomps on the ground and you instantly die, the Threshers one or two shot you every time and are bullet sponges, the interceptors that drive around like the roving pikes one to two shot you and are also sponges, everything is a yellow bar. They just took this to another level that's not even fun anymore

2 RepliesLegend needs to be 1800 or 1810 at the most! 1830 for legend is insane!

List of people wh ofind the game hard : - People using 2 primary weapon / no mod / dont use heavy ammo / dont use super

2 RepliesThnx for the post. Just checking if a casual player should return to the game. Looks like no. Thnx for the info.

Edited by xiionn: 3/7/2023 2:09:53 PMI honestly cant imagine the lack of intelligent thought process at bungie. Make it more challenging....thier only solutiion was depower the player and just add health to everything. That makes nothing hard, just tedious. With 3 players tedious becomes laughably bad. It never occured to them to.....update the game properly with better enemy ai....destiny ai is non existent, even MGS 1 from decades ago the enemies reacted bettter lol. What about enhanced enemy mechanics with more variety and random attacks? Rather than.....shoot switch, damage phase, immortal, shoot switch again, repeat. The callus boss fight on legend with 3 players is so hillariously bad. After i solod it and thought, that was annoying af. I went on lfg tried to help others who were struggling but oh hell 100 clips and a tormentors down, lets get the other.....wow thats bad. The valkeries in GOW and GOW2 were so much fun, beating the final valkerie queen on GOW difficulty you felt elated....but beating callus was just relief its over, it was a chore.

4 RepliesEdited by Hawpy: 3/7/2023 8:55:55 PMIt needs to be given time. Remember that we've only just entered the second week; the majority of players are going to be nowhere near the Powerful and Pinnacle caps, which the activity levels are based on. There is a strange collection of pieces of information that I can't really parse, as they seem contradictory. - the difficulty of the WQ Legendary Campaign was very well received - the Lightfall Legendary Campaign has the same power deficit (-15), but the enemies have less health in co-op than they did previously - people are complaining that even the regular Lightfall campaign is too hard - Grandmaster Nightfalls with a power deficit of at least -25 were generally perceived as being easy by those who did them I understand the complaints about enemies in Patrol being more difficult, but the complaints seem unwarranted for just about everything else. -15 was an acceptable power deficit in a difficult activity for the average player a year ago, but somehow it isn't acceptable for a difficult activity that has modifiers that buff us now? -20 in Master activities is too much when -25 in GMs isn't? Master Raids are the only activities I'm concerned about, but they're played by such a tiny minority that it isn't going to affect the people who are upset about the overall changes.

Am more powerfull than ive ever been, strand is reall powerfull, i have more mods activated at a time than ever and you wanna make the game easier?Dont think bungie will do this simply because they know there own game and realize guardians have never been this powerfull before.

5 RepliesAre people really struggling on the difficulty increases? I am far from the best at this game, I play here and there when new content drops but I played two heroic nightfalls and I didnt notice any change. However I will agree the strength of the patrol in neomuna is kind of ridiculous for what it is. I don't mean this in a negative or insulting way I am curious if this is common thing for folks?
