Travel time of Pyramid ships doesn't compute.

In the end of D2 Vanilla when we see the Pyramid ships are outside of our Galaxy, and quite significantly, they still somehow make it to our system within four years. Our galaxy is over 100k light years wide. Meaning they must have been going 26k times the speed of light to even get to our system. Give or take. Which is assuming they are one half of a galaxy OUTSIDE our galaxy. And going by the cutscene they are many, MANY times further away than our galaxy is wide. Even conservatively, at least four galaxy-width's away. Meaning they must have been travelling at over 100k times the speed of light! But it then takes them a year to move from Pluto orbit...to Earth. What. The. Hell? If even one had maintained that speed and hit Earth it would have been vaporized. I get wanting the Traveller and the Veil, you'd need paracausal energy to stabilize a wormhole enough to allow the Witness to pass through it but even still...

  • We can get from Earth to Neptune in a few minutes. That technically breaks the speed of light. It’s video game logic. I personally like to believe that the witness could have been here earlier but was setting up plans and stuff beforehand. Idk, again: video game logic. Probably wormholes

  • We shoot magic energy balls and this is your problem with realism in this game?

  • Vaporizing Earth would of sent the Traveler fleeing, so that’s no good. In truth it would of just reset time again. Slow and steady, wear us down, appear unstoppable. Cast doubt, division, let the enemy fight itself. Let the heroes get desperate, let them run headlong into danger. It got what it wanted, makes sense. Besides, what engines? Space magic baby.

  • Perhaps the witness has some patience, to the point of just being in our solar system is enough that it just feels it can cruise around all menacing like. A year must feel like a couple of minutes to the witness by now. It must know it can be defeated as well, so rushing around in what it considers to also be it's most powerful foe's territory is a bad decision. But to really answer your question, the Pyramids are clearly an EV. I mean have you seen a Tesla before? Very fast.

Theoretical faster than light (FTL) travel is the answer. Warping space time allows this to be possible. This is the only way intergalactic travel could happen for life. Light speed is not possible. As velocity increases mass would increase until it becomes a singularity. A point of infinite mass. Theoretical FTL travel hypothesizes that rather than increasing an objects velocity to move through space, it is space itself that moves the object (but also technically doesn’t “move” it because it would have no velocity) (like how the universe is expanding)

    • Easy answer is "Space Magic" My head cannon is they used the same warp that we use to go from Earth to Neptune in minutes.

      • A-hem, and you don't find strange that the burst of Light emitted by the Traveler that vaporized the ghost (or whatever he had become) of Ghaul reached the Pyramid fleet in what seemed seconds or minutes?

        • It's just a game, wouldn't waste too much thought on it; Bungie clearly doesn't....
