So, I find the final Calus fight very hard. Anyone else.
I've tried 96 times and can't even go to the second stage. I just get killed so easily.
Anyone else find it too hard? How did you beat it? (assuming no cheese)
(solar titan at 1750+6, loreley helmet, 106 resilience, but still die so easily)

1 ReplyI used Strand Titan with Osteo Striga, the new Seasonal Fusion Rifle and the new Strand Heavy Machine Gun with Vorpal. As Exotic I used the Hearth of the Inmost Light. First phase, I just went on one of small spaces around the central arena (never stay on the center), killed themobs around with Grapple-Melee, Strand ball, Melee and Osteo. Then from there I just used the Osteo on Calus, destroyed the projectile he throws at you with the snap. When too much s*** was coming against me or when the vertical death beam was coming, I used the grapple to run away using the lateral platforms. For Torments, they spanw on the middle, so from the distance I broke the shoulders, then when they ran against me, I suspender them with the Barricade and then used the Heavy Machine Gun + Finisher. Second phase, I just grappled from one side to the other of the arena, shot a little bit with Osteo, leave the Poison do the job while I was running away. Took like 5-7 attempts to make it =/ but pretty sure my strategy isn't the best.

Hide under steps left side of rally flag and shoot the pants of him

1 ReplyI used solar titan as well, my advice would be to take off loreley and use Synthoceps

As long as you're at the power cap for the mission, you shouldn't have any survivability problems with bonk titan. Psions spawn endlessly until the 2nd phase so you have stuff to bonk. I had a problem with getting booped off a ledge. I switched to strand and spammed my barricade to suspend tormentors and the tanky yellow bars. I ran witherhoard, calus mini tool, cataclysmic (4th + bait). 2nd phase is a joke. Hug a pillar and pop a witherhoard on him. His AI can't charge or attack unless you're in front of him, so keep the pillar between the two you.

Found in all 3 of my playthroughs for the characters witherhoard come to pass with adaptive munitions (perks all that was really necessary from that) and a heavy with vorpal or any good splash or impact heavy gl. I would hang out on the catwalks shooting calus with wither and would use the strand grapple to travel between them if it got hairy. When it came to tormentors shot with the pass to break shoulders then the heavy to kill them. In the final bit continue to dodge tagging calus with wither and clearing ads getting more wither ammo so finders are nice for that. Otherwise keep a calm head or the stress will get to you.

Osteo Blinding GL retrofit escapade I take the pad and stay there. Blind everything and kill it before it gets to the pad. Damage calus until the first tormentor spawns then leave calus alone and kill the tormentor. Once he is dead damage calus and do the same thing for the second one. If you blind them where calus is they will never run to the pad, they back away. I use strand for the second phase back and forth shooting calus and killing ads.

Witherhourd smg and a heavy grenade. Keeo moving only hit calus dont need to kill anything else.

Ostio striga and a fusion rifle

Took me 3 tries First two times I didn't realize you could use Strand. Grapple. Never stop. Use Anarchy or Witherhoard or Striga for passive damage. Save your super for the Tormentors I used: Assassin's Cowl Riptide w/ chill clip/auto loader IKELOS smg w/ voltshot Anarchy

I am not going to torture myself like that, I am going to wait for the HOTFIX that fixes the Next HOTFIX

As the fight is now it’s super unbalanced so I would just cheese it at this point if you’ve tried 96 times. It’s not worth putting in any more energy for something that was clearly not play tested. Ik I personally was getting super irritated/infuriated by it so I had to just cheese it. I’m glad I did cause the payoff for it was not worth it if I had done it normally

2 RepliesHonestly I just want to see your attempts, it took me about thirty tries on the spinning deathwall

3 RepliesEdited by Unstoppable_Screeb: 3/5/2023 1:11:54 AMStick and move constantly, spend too much time in one area and he starts to bombard you plus the damage from adds. Blinding nade launcher is massive here too because it’ll also blind the Tormentors, giving you some free time to pick off their armour. Anarchy is also a great weapon to use for the stick and move strategy. I would also take advantage of Strand here, the grapple is good for making sharp exits from trouble. Plus the Titan strand super does mega damage.

I used strand warlock. Chill clip fusion, necrotic, and xenophage, go to a platform, and damage calus/tormentors. When the tormentor gets close enough to where he can suppress you then grapple away. For 2nd phase just spam grapple melee
-
Just use witherhoard and keep jumping and moving. You actually don't have to kill anything tbh I used a void titan with lions. In the first part of the encounter, I jumped up to the scaffolding and laid into him with machine gun and witherhoard. Second phase I didn't even bother with the tormentors. They just sit in the middle of the room. Stick to the outside circle, turn and jump shot calus with witherhoard. Rinse and repeat. Use your shield bash to get away if needed. I used the shield toss bc it would 1 hit the psions and give me health back. Calus gets stuck on the boxes around the room, sometimes, making it easy to hit him. Solo it's pretty easy. I beat him first try. Just keep moving and only focus on Calus. Witherhoard is key.

Are you still on the boss? Would you like help?
-
Max Resilience Witherhoard for Calus both stages Shackle grenade for tormentors Heavy GL for Calus both stages Super Calus immediately and then save a second super for phase two I also mostly stayed on the raised areas while moving as needed. If you’re strand empowered then your shackle grenade will recharge every few seconds. Shackle grenades will also do some decent damage to Calus. I had probably 5-6 deaths during the Calus fight. Most of them were from his darkness bombardment getting me before I could react because I was too focused on Calus himself. Tormentors are child’s play with shackle grenades while strand empowered.

Legit keep trying Cheese just go under stairs U choose I won't judge either way

You need to stay mobile. Loreley is a wrong option and you probably chose it because you didn't think about the reasons why you kept failing. And with the recent changes the helmet became pretty much irrelevant.
-
Stay mobile, don’t stay on the platforms longer than you have too. I used Osteo Striga, pulse and solar machine gun. Smashed fat boy with super first then cleared adds and took out the tormentors quick with lots of running around, but solar machine gun worked well on tormentors. Plus stay away from edges as much as you can so the stomping doesn’t throw you off. Second phase keep moving and smashing fatso and be careful of his stomping, that was my method and it worked. Don’t forget to make use of grapple hook. Good luck

Edited by TwigTwig: 3/5/2023 5:38:38 PMEquip witherhoard, shoot boss, grapple outside the arena constantly, only stopping to refresh wither. Use a linear if you want to take down the torments before phase 2. Basically spend the whole of phase 1 on the catwalk grappling, and phase 2 is easy with wither and super.

1 ReplyI have no idea if this will help, but here’s what I did… it only took me 11 (I think, my brain was scrambled) tries on solo legendary. I am a Hunter main, but I did use Strand. I used my Shayura’s Wrath, my Heritage, and Lament. Absolutely stupid, right? But I used them for backup. The sword was for much needed health and my Shayura’s was for the idiot centurions with void shields. I did not focus on the psions in the middle unless I had my super. I kept running around the arena, killing things and grappling away. When the tormentors came out, I killed them slowly. Sometimes they fell off the edge when I blinded them. I’ve only seen two total in that fight so far. Gladiators spawn after them I’ve noticed. I used the useless enemies around the room as fuel for my super and then attacked using said super. For the second phase, I did pretty much the same thing. Keep running, kill psions, attack with my super so I wouldn’t get sliced and diced, then return to running like hell. But my friends said they practically just ran around the room, using Witherhoard and a linear. Witherhoard sounds so much easier… Please for the love of GOD if there is truly a cheese, I think that is the way to go. This fight is nothing but a headache. If you die, you start aaaaalllll the way over. I hope you get it eventually, good luck.

1 ReplyThere’s a video about it. The key is to jump down under the walkway. From under there you can shoot through the stairs and take virtually no damage. You can do both parts from there. Best to watch it on Youtube. I think it’s called cheesing headlong or something close. I was so relieved when I got it done. Bungle has no excuse for these bullet sponges in tiny areas.

Can we get death updates as you progress? I’ll be here for another 96!
