Even matching surges and using elemental boosts, what is the point of primary weapons in end game content? Putting a full mag into a single red bar isn’t fun. It isn’t really challenge either, in my opinion.
Darktide is a difficult game but it’s always fun because you deal damage. The challenge comes from the heavy waves and enemy types, not dealing as little damage as possible and relying on finishers to kill basic enemies.

3 RepliesEdited by Joulevette12: 3/5/2023 2:19:09 PMI don't mind bullet sponges if it's body hits but when they eat up all your bullets on headshots with criticals then we have a problem and that's what I'm seeing a lot of

But....but....bungie listened to us, and this was thier take away.... Didnt you want to feel like a useless -blam!- throwing rocks at enemies? They have real bullets but you have a BB gun? Spending ten minutes killing a legend tormentor whos blinded so no possible challenge isnt fun? We at bungie dont get it?!
-
1 ReplyI'm fine with enemies being sponges but cabal ships, interceptors, hydras, and wyverns need to do less damage.
-
3 Replies"We want to bring challenge back to Destiny" Yea go ahead, if you are capable of thinking creative and put some interesting mechanics into the games gameplay loop other than making enemies bullet sponges, enemies one-hitting us and us doing no damage. Oh yea and the beloved loadout restricting champs are there still. After 4 years of players hating them because they force us to play weapons and now classes that we do not want to play. These cringe clowns don't know how to make a game challenging. They do know how to waste our time by making it so everything takes longer with zero better rewards for our "effort". Lol.

1 ReplyOkay. So. Here's the deal. Because it keeps coming up and some people don't realize why bows and smgs pretty much rule the primary option because it was before their time. Ammo was the balancing factor. Bows got 30 arrows, smgs I forget but also pretty low, I want to think that the scout rifles were like 120? And auto rifles around 300, it's been a loooooong time. The idea was that bows were a precise weapon for long ranges, burst damage as opposed to the scout rifles sustained damage. SMGs were supposed to be your danger close weapon, low ammo reserves, but high damage output. Now, there was repeated bursts of outcry saying that basically primary weapons do not do enough damage. Bungie's solution was rather than ruin the weakness fantasy that made destiny such an awful game, they would instead just make primary ammo unlimited, this allowed destiny to continue being one of the worst games on the market while shutting people up about primaries because "sure they're useless, but you can fire them uselessly forever." Bungie is absolutely certain that the more enjoyable their game is, the less people will play it, so they are careful to keep it as misery inducing to play as possible. Because there is no longer an issue of ammo economy, bows and SMGs, intended to have terrible ammo economy in exchange for high damage, are now the supreme weapon, while everything else is utter dogshit because they were balanced to have low damage but high ammo economy. Power crunch has been a problem going all the way back to forsaken but power crunch has reached the point where about 80% of weapons are simply not viable. I would rather go back to having to deal with ammo economy to manage but primary weapons actually -blam!- deal damage, but that would make Destiny a better game and as mentioned, the more enjoyable the game is to play, the less successful bungie feels it is. The weakness fantasy ultimately trumps all other design choices.

Something just doesn't feel right about needing 6-8 crits from a 120 HC to kill a red bar Cabal on Neptune. Especially when it's also hitting them with a micro missile every other shot on top of that. Just seems.... stupid.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Amazinite: 3/8/2023 11:28:37 PMIt’s honestly not even all primaries, but specific categories. Auto rifle for example need some love. Pulses and scouts could use a bit of extra damage too.

I haven’t been able to proc Envious Assassin yet on Neomuna. I was really excited for the perk. I guess I’ll go to the Cosmodrome or something.
-
1 Replyyou should hit hs, with hs you see the difference
-
1 ReplyI was stupid enough to grab the artifact perk that gives unraveling rounds on rapid final blows with a strand weapon only to realize that getting rapid kills with primary weapons is a joke.
-
8 RepliesIt's called the double special weapon meta for a reason man. Run two special weapons and an exotic heavy. Problem solved.
-
3 RepliesExotic primary + surging weapon = melting ads all day long.
-
6 RepliesI thought it was just me LOL, it's Insanity how many bullets it takes just to kill a basic enemy. They also need to stop with how many kills you need for a catalyst. You need like 2-3000 plus kills or something which people are going to say is not hard which they're right but it's ridiculously time consuming

17 RepliesSaltagreppo said D2 is too easy and Bungie listened lol
-
4 RepliesDo you have outbreak perfected? That gun is a primary exotic and shreds.
-
I’ve said it before difficulty is increased due to unfamiliarity, therefore bungie would need to create that by if not new enemy types then new enemy abilities instead they opt for the easiest and lamest way possible to try and create a sense of challenge. By increasing enemy hp and the damage they deal , this in my opinion does not create much of a challenge rather more of a time wasted sense !
-
Let's face it m8, Bungie are blind. They're doing what they want, not what the community needs. Greedy cheap idiots who've lost the plot and need to resign.
-
Idk, my sweet business shreds with the kinetic damage mod. Tested in legendary campaign and does alright.
-
11 RepliesThis is why "difficulty" doesn't really work in an FPS. It worked in Doom Eternal because you had a whole arsenal of weapons you could switch to on the fly to use while your other weapons cooled down (no reloading in DOOM), grenades that constantly generated armor, the chainsaw for ammo (where is my heavy ammo Bungie?), etc. You could take down the toughest enemies in seconds by hot swapping the right weapon combos. Destiny doesn't work that way, and I'm not so sure Bungie even knows this. Strand looks like it took some inspiration from Eternals grappling super shotgun, but Bungie failed. Badly.

13 RepliesThey succeed at taking fun out of the game. The best heavy linear fusion took 4 shots to kill a red bar. Game designers are dumb. Did they play test this trash? Its all about spamming abilities again. The best rocket launchers tickle bosses.
-
Is this in campaign or end game? Cause if so disregard Even on Neptune I wasn’t having too hard of a time killing unless it was a public event and that was at 1600 Check your weapon rolls too because you can squeeze a lot more dmg out of perks than you might think.
-
Wish-ender is a staple now for me. Sorry but everything is a bullet sponge now and not fun. Wish-ender one shots all red-bars.
-
Suspend grenades, dives, walls
-
Tarrabah’s pretty solid can’t lie
-
Red bars are taking a mag and a half to kill with auto rifles. Which makes it hard to utilize perks.
