Can't get passed initial pre title screen (update)
Had been playing lightfall for a few days and suddenly the last few days can no longer get passed the initial black screen with the spinning icon that comes before the usual title screen that says destiny /lightfall etc. Steam. It doesn't hang or crash. On load it opens to that and will just continue on that initial screen never ending spinning. I've done everything I can think of or found hunting around. To name a few, things like deleting the cache, verifying files, upgrading drivers, launching after clean boot with no peripherals or anything else plugged in like controllers, audio etc (acer nitro 5 an515-55 rtx 3060). I've done GPU driver settings reset, reinstall and also did a full GPU driver clean reinstall after wiping existing traces out. I've deleted, redownloaded and reinstalled the game from scratch. Tried a system restore, tried launching in different screen modes like windowed, full etc. Windows updates done latest windows 10 build. No errors or messages nothing. For all intents and purposes, you wouldn't obviously know it's not working if you didn't know it's not supposed to stay there forever. Even tried turning on overlay to see if the frames showed signs of activity or just locked. Not sure what to make of this. Also not a network error or setting. This is what I could remember off the top of my head but not even a full account. I'm a little stumped honestly as not really seeing rumbles about others having this issue at this time. Oh. Also tried downloading and installing it on a different drive getting steam to point to it as a new game library location. The only thing that I wonder about is that I noticed I started having weird controller lag with the Ps4 controller the last time it worked. I only bring that up because I had found a single post but from back in 2017 saying that the ps4 controller connected had the same symptoms suddenly and resolved by disconnect and clean boot. I've already done thorough testing with that, making sure its not connected by blue tooth or USB and fresh clean boot. Even tried removing all traces of it from the system and disabling Bluetooth on boot to try and rule out some weird driver conflicts

I've had this same problem for 24 hours, I've tried every way, starting in safe mode, updating bios, windows 11, drivers, network, peripherals, everything I had to do I managed to do, I reset my mold in mode factory and nothing. Unfortunately it's complicated because I just bought all the DLC and I barely use it and this happens to me.

1 ReplyMy issue isn't quite exactly like yours, instead it gets to the character profile screen, doesn't load it fully and completely freezes up. Its been like this for 3 weeks now. I've done all the stuff you've mentioned and even clean installed windows. Also tried downloading it from epic, nothing has made a difference. I've made my own post about this on here, reddit, and steam. There's been no help whatsoever. Its ridiculous

any updates from anyone? im still stuck at the spinning class symbols or crash while spinning. nothing on pc affects the game to make this happen. only difference ive noticed is a horde of people on this forum downvoting every new post about it.....

5 RepliesReally disappointed right now. I've been a player since destiny 1, and put in I think almost 5000 hrs on destiny 2 until taking a break for about 6 months. A palette cleanser that I was waiting for lightfall to hit to jump back in. I've gotten basically just a few hours of play out of it only to have a very expensive paper weight equivalent of software! All the money I've given bungie, even for destiny 2 alone... The retail game, all the expensive expansions almost like buying the game all over again, the seasons etc etc.... Even outside destiny, all the halo franchise... You get the point. Now not only can I not play the thing I just paid quite a bit for.... I can't play ANY of it. They spend time and effort investigating and chasing -blam!- because so and so weapon or ability does slightly different things than they expected and disable it like it's the most important thing. Come on bungie! I know you guys have a lot of stuff going on right now, but please look into this. Even if you don't have any solutions yet, acknowledging that it's on your radar would go a long way

5 RepliesI should also mention I work in IT and do a lot of pc trouble shooting both for work and personal and this isn't my first rodeo with trouble shooting especially games and steam. If I'm posting, it's because I'm not sure what else I can do to try and narrow this down. Ps: before I forget also tried wiping out steam and reinstalling it in case

1 ReplyOnly recently have I been having the same problem. I've been able to play Lightfall since release up until yesterday (3/4/23) morning and re-installing the game helped but I have ran into the same issue once again a day later. Hopefully this can get fixed sooner rather than later. Seen people with issues like this back when [b]Witch Queen[/b] dropped and those didn't change anything (run pgm as admin, add BattleEye to firewall exception, etc). But I launch the game and I just get the spinning class loading icons, that's it, and my game doesn't load past that. AMD Radeon RX 6600 AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.60 GHz 16GB RAM

Im having the same problem since this thursday. Ive tried a lot of things and nothing works. I use steam for destiny but I dont know if this trouble happens on epic launcher too. I follow bungie help on twitter and they dont say anything about it yet. I dont know how many people has this problem but I hop that bungie gonna fix it soon because its very frustrating.

4 RepliesHOLY -blam!-!!!!!! I am currently staring at the lightfall title screen!!!!! I won't make any assumptions that I'm in the clear, but I haven't been able to reach this point in many days. I've tried everything I mentioned in this thread and even since then multiple others as a hail mary without any luck. The last thing I just tried with literally no expectation of success (was barely paying attention it was so unlikely until I heard the music which made my head whip around like you've gotta be kidding me) . Someone mentioned that for some reason with the same issues, they tried launching it from the steam link app and it worked!! I figured it's basically just streaming gameplay from the same PC. I first tried using the streaming feature on another PC that had steam in my house, and watched it do basically the same thing on the PC it always did. I figured you know what, he said specifically he used the steam link app. I'm currently in game :) Now I'm scared to close out the steam link session in case it was just luck hahaha

CHECK YOUR INTERNET SETTINGS, copy pasting the same message in the top posts about this loading screen crash for visibility. So like you I have never gotten past the loading screen since Lightfall launch. That is detailed here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/262464398?sort=0&page=0 So I just got it working today. I have tried uninstalling updates, reinstalling updates, reinstalling Destiny from scratch, reinstalling steam from scratch, repairing and testing my Windows 10 install using command prompt, even force upgrading my 7700k pc to windows 11, and then resetting my PC into a fresh install of Windows 11, nothing worked... Until I factory reset my router. For the past few months I have had less than a handful of websites not load and recently the Steam store not load initially when starting the app. I messed with DNS, DHCP, IP and IP prefix delegation settings in the past trying to optimize my internet traffic but I clearly made it worse. All the games I am playing still worked though, including D2 WQ. I guess Lightfall if forcing bungie account authentication to go a specific route through the internet and my router settings where just blocking it and was constantly causing the game to crash. Per my linked post, I got my Win 11 pro work laptop with integrated graphics to log-in, my guess is that the combo of motherboard, ethernet /networking hardware, OS settings, and router settings need to be very particular in order to the game authenticate accounts right now. If you guys are going the 'factory reset your router" option, I would suggest to only change the settings you know you need to change, don't change anything that you think will give you a slight bump if you really don't have to. In my case, I have a Ubiquiti Dream Machine, so there are a lot of settings to mess with. Hope this guess more folks into the game, GOOD LUCK.

3 RepliesSo I don't know if this applies to any others with this issue, but I've seen a handful of posts describing almost or exactly the same issue that specifically mentions ps4 controllers. And that for some reason disconnecting it and rebooting solved it for them. It's definitely not the solution for me because I've gone above and beyond to make sure it wasn't only disconnected, but no trace of it remained. No driver or disconnected device listing etc.... I did think it was weird though that the last time I was actually able to launch the game, the ps4 controller had started to get quite laggy or would seem like it was cutting out for a few seconds flashing red before kicking back in. It wasn't the battery or anything it was late so I was like whatever call it a night. I haven't been able to get passed that spinning symbol black screen ever since. This is just plain weird! Next things I'm considering trying: Even though I've only seen any mention of this for the game on xbox, that issue's fix since lightfall says it's something about old content and that the workaround is to uninstall/remove the old content/dlc. Get it launched and then you can re-install the DLC packages. Worth a shot? I still haven't seen any kind of post or acknowledgement from bungie or an official source that this is a known issue being looked at when they often do so for oddly random stuff that seems like not a lot of people would experience.

1 ReplyI've been having the same problem. Weirdly enough what has worked for me has been letting the loadscreen sit for a long time (15 mins to an hour? Not exactly sure what the right range is), closing the game (via task manager for me), and launching it again.

5 Repliesall i know is that my dxdiag has 5 errors related to destiny 2 losing connection. and the game worked perfectly fine the day before the maintenance and lightfall update. played and streamed it pretty much every day without issue, with the exact setup i still have, nothing at all changed except the lightfall update. no applications updated, no settings on pc, literally nothing.
