Headlong Mission -- This mission is -blam!- absurd on Legendary.
It's one of the two missions people are moving down to Classic for. I won't say Strand is bad, but the Headlong Mission Boss design seems to punish the very thing Strand is intended for you to excel at. Exploding Enemies leaving Arc pools, Flame-Stomp Boss, and an ever present Wall of Fire forcing you to keep moving - great stuff, if it wasn't filled with HP sponge enemies-- THAT EXPLODE, so you DIE when you use Strand's PREMIER ABILITY COMBO which is Grapple->Melee.
Solution Proposed:
- Remove the Arc Pool/Exploding Fanatics.
- Reduce the boss HP by 30%
- Add additional grapple points
- Remove that stupid -blam!- gap on one of the platforms that sends you down to your death when you swing with any inertia into it,.
-
I tried this mission, hated it. Decide to pass on doing the campaign, and start playing more PvP. I am not good at it, but enjoy it way more than the campaign. The campaign is simply boring and I hate strand.
-
I thought it was one of the easier missions. The one with Rohan dying or Calus are way harder.
-
Did you know there’s a cheese
-
You can go on the platform right from entrance on top (where the snipers are) with strand…Nobody can hit you (only nade from boss with little damage)… just shoot the boss then… The laser-wall rotating will hit you, but with some resilience it doesn’t kill you…
-
another case of skill issue
THAT EXPLODE, so you DIE when you use Strand's PREMIER ABILITY COMBO which is Grapple->Melee.
Idk that happened to me one or two times and then I thought "oh man I should be careful and look if there's any of those guys before I do that". Crazy enough, I haven't died like that again in that mission unless I was just blindly meleeing the groups of enemies

2 RepliesIt’s actually a well designed boss fight, this community is just used to very very linear battles. One of the few fights I enjoyed in this trash heap on an expansion
-
That was the mission I dropped down difficulty. It all really seemed silly and pointless by that point. You know, all the feels you want your player base to feel right before the end.
-
I thought it was fine.
-
2 RepliesIf no one’s ever played Halo: CE, Halo 2, or even Halo: ODST, then they’d never realize how much of those games’ missions were copied. Almost entirely, and reskinned for this Lightfall Campaign.
-
1 ReplyIs headlong the one with 2 terrorists and cabal in a small room?
-
1 ReplyHow are people dying to these missions. you don't need high stat armor all you need to do is shoot the boss that barley shoots back and when he dose he can't aim.
-
5 RepliesBungie doesn't know how to make challenging content. Full stop. I got through Headlong, but I stopped at the Calus fight. No exotic, or high level gear set, and certainly not the strand subclass was worth the utter cluster -blam!-ery that fight was. My suggestion for players, play the campaign on classic because you wont miss much, and play Wo Long Fallen Dynasty for a decent challenge.
-
3 RepliesThat was easy compared to the boss fight.

1 ReplyEdited by Sturm with no Drang: 3/4/2023 4:08:00 AMFor anyone having trouble, Heir Apparent was a godsend for a little breathing room. Just gotta focus on prioritizing the Hobgoblins and hitting hard while trying to stay ahead of the laser grid and away from the Minotaur Boss’ stomp. Seriously though, I feel like they did way too much all at once for that mission along with the recent LF changes and I had to give up after about an hour of dying on Legendary so many times. It’s doable for even a casul like me, but it’s definitely not fun.
-
Legendary just isn't for you. Big Learn to Grapple moment
-
Headwrong and emptyheaded.
-
Also.. Cheesefall The number of cheese spots for boss's is laughable. Especially the constantly firing hydra's that jus spam aoe attacks relentlessly. The whole game is cheddar at this point. They can't create anything original so they jus throw mad ad spawn & bullet sponge boss in a tiny space. The tormenters are total gash. They are literally a collection of attacks that nullify your load out. Anything that kills your super is jus lazy. And there's literally no way to avoid their attacks while your forced to jump around a dumb arena.. So.. a rather mature English cheddar is the order of the day. The game doesn't deserve much more.
-
It's what "the community" wanted.. As in Gladd & Ditto & whatever other tee-wat was moaning about.. It's too ez.. maths class didn't find any struggle so you must make EDZ patrol endgame hardcore waaah blah wamp 🤣
-
Just like how people will dive into the day 1 raid when they can’t handle it, people will dive into legendary campaigns when they can’t handle them.
-
Annoying but doable on any class. Bring witherhoard and kite using strand to yeet from one place to another. Bring a LMG to pop some ads and rinse and repeat. Once you get to a solid light level and do other characters it becomes a lot easier. The first time is a doozy.
-
I encountered this problem with almost all bosses. They put too many things in at once, add respawning ads to it that all do splash damage. It felt like I can t have a few second to regenerate. And the worst part, making you parcour all they way to the boss every time you die ...
-
Edited by teamz: 3/4/2023 8:39:04 PMThe final two missions were a doozy for me. Died way too many times. I spent more time running in a circle than anything else. Eventually got it done by slowly chipping away at the bosses and never ever staying still.
-
Skill issue. I solo’d both 20 light under with no issues. On Legend
-
If you’re doing it with multiple people only one of you has to pick up Strand while the others run a much stronger subclass. Agree that the mission isn’t fun or designed that well.
-
It was my least favorite mission. Doing it with 3 players took the longest. It was absurdly difficult for my crew. Got past it, everything else felt like a breeze compared to that.
