So guardian ranks and commendations really dont mean anything...
... For example theres a challenge to get 750 commendation score and you need it to reach rank 7, hardly anyone in the playlists actually give credit back (I give to everyone) even if you hard carried them through the nightfall for example, nothing.
Potentially you could go an entire season and never reach that 750 score meaning you're stuck at guardian rank 6, then it resets for the next season? So all the grind youve just done to try increase it for 3 months was for nothing.
You've pretty much tried to make reputation an RNG grind.
Put it this way I see a gaurdian whos rank 6 and has only done the bare minimum to reach it, I see another one at rank 6 yet they've solo flawlessed every dungeon, flawlessed all the raids, soloed every GM and wins a flawless card everytime trials is around, serious question how does that number let me tell them apart when you have it tied to an RNG increase instead of actual skill?

If the game doesn't inspire friendship, its because its literally just not inspiring at all, but hardly does Destiny even seem inspiring, even on the back end. That company is just hollow. Trying to force it will most likely make it worse because now people are more defensive. At least its optional... Ooooh wait, they require it to progress things... Sh*t... Its actually WAY the opposite with this game because everything is a fight against other players, even in team activities. They create the elitism, they create the separation and can't understand why nothing is working, which shows they don't really know how this stuff works. It shows in the description of Tier 11: [i]"The stories of you grow in myth and legend. Secure your place in the upper echelons of the Tower by achieving feats deemed unachievable by most and earn exaltation through recognition from fellow Guardians."[/i] Holy sh*t Bungie just literally told us to do this stuff just so we can get recognized as the superiority. WOW! Its probably deep rooted in some sort of mentality that I can't quite put my finger on... Oh wait... and that's why friendship can't be inspired. Who would have guessed it needs to happen without intervention beyond chance, and certainly doesn't come from superiority over others?

They need to either let us give commendations in the last action report, remove the countdown timer before you're sent to orbit, or make it longer. Especially on PS4, the character models don't even load before I can pick anything

Half the time the commendation screen times out before it loads so I can't give out commendations. Sucks that this replaced clan xp.

They spam random commendations to people at the end of an activity and hope they are reciprocated unto them. Surely Bungie cannot be so out of touch and delusional as to believe that this system would be useful [i]at all[/i], to anyone? Even the "Guardian Ranks" system is a trashy slap in the face to veteran players. I've done flawless raids, solo flawless dungeons, gone flawless hundreds of times in Trials, have every possible seal and title in the game, done dozens of sherpas, crafted many guns, played since D1 beta, and accomplished everything in that game too... and I'm only a "veteran" Guardian??? It's just absolute nonsense. A player with 5 hours or a player with 3000+ hours is the exact same rank.

Creating a "triumph" that extrinsically rewards the giving of commendations takes away from their value. I want all my commendations to be meaningful, not just a "you did it!" participation medal for doing a thing with some randos. But that's where it's going to be because of this challenge. However, this only perfectly applies for low-level content. Because there are pinnacle-content commendations like for raids/dungeons and trials, that brings meaning to them; if you notice, those commendations are more specific than "you're fun because you were in my lobby", [u]which is exactly what Joybringer is[/u], change my mind lol. And because of this, if I'm curious about someone, I will only care about their raid/dungeon and trials commendations because their intensity and specificity makes them telling, whereas Joybringer isn't telling at all. [b]It's just thrown around as a meaningless courtesy.[/b] I have a slightly intense approach, but I think there should be no external rewarding of having or giving commendations at all, because their purpose is to tell you who this player is. So if you reward people for having them, then those rewards force patience and friendliness and so on, and [u]make these virtues just a to-do list[/u] on the loot or triumph grind.

They probanly could have made like 7 strikes with that time and resources and 4 PVP maps and 2 Gambit maps. Why they invested in Guardian Ranks and Commendations is beyond me.

3 RepliesIm just not sure how they expected people to use the system. Everyone i know just spam clicks the first person they see and the first commendation that pops up x2 at the end of every game. No one is watching someone make a play in a random game of pvp or a strike and thinking "hey that guy was level headed ill give him a commendation". Lmao

I think there might be a multiplier for 750. I have given 4 and received 4 but Im at 17? So might not be as long as we think.

Only thing I don't like is I had a person or well a few people actually deliberately not give me one. I understand they aren't forced to and at the end of the day it is just a few but come on you know you'll be helping me as well as I am helping you since I gave you one.
