Grapple shouldnt have a 1+ minute cooldown. Hell I dont even think the cooldown should exceed 20 seconds. The grapple is the entire point of strand. Specifically the mobility it adds. This goes for PvP and PvE. I lose a grenade ability so that I can grapple, at least let me grapple frequently.
And if theres a concern about it changing the meta too heavily in PvP (which is fair considering woven mail) then add an armor mod that allows user to do increased damage against guardians that are in the process of grappling so that there's more of a risk/reward mechanic to it and woven mail isn't an easy cheese and can be countered.

I think it should be in the melee slot, and be no cool down how fun would that be lol
-
Yeah, I disagree with the “reduced cooldown in PvP”. That’d get toxic in a second. But for sure, the Grapple’s cooldown in PvE needs to be much better. Especially since most of the story training had you waiting a few seconds for it to come back. However, after “unlocking Strand”, you either forgo the utility/mobility of Grapple (for a real grenade) or you keep it, and watch that same grenade cooldown linger… while falling to your death…

Edited by madmacstoo: 3/4/2023 11:22:18 AMWhy produce a marketing video showing Guardians grappling around Neomuna like veritable Tarzans when that is simply NOT the case? I'm feeling slightly conned.

2 RepliesI suspect in pvp it’s to keep controller players happy it’s probably too fast for aim assist to lock on
-
1 ReplyI dont even have 100 discipline and you get the grapple back hilariously fast with demolitionist + the fragment. I dont even use kickstart mods. This dlc is terrible in many other aspects, this isnt one of them. Educate yourselves you troglodytes.

Im good with the timer as it is.(I say this as a hunter who gets 2 charges) As for the warlocks/titans yeah i can totally understand wanting faster recharge cause like... its just fun! But it has a punch attached which is very good(when on par with enemy level). So, I understand the cooldown. I guess just run demolitionist weapons and a grenade kickstart for a recharge starter boost.

17 RepliesGrapple comes with a melee akin to shoulder charge. That is strong. Want more grapple up time? Build into it...
-
The only thing keeping my hunter from immortality is the lack of grapple. If it was available all the time, you would be almost unstoppable in the loop. Having said that, I would very much like my +20 back from powerful friends….please🙂
-
You can usually pick up Spider-Man and/or Miles Morales on PSN dirt cheap for your grapple fix. That way, you can keep using your new old 3.0 subclasses in D2.
-
7 RepliesI switched to the threadling grenade as soon as i could. It pretty much means u have to run demo on a weapon and keep ur disc high. I have np keeping my grenade up most of the time but can see why the grapple should be lower cd compared to the other 2
-
They should implement a code statement where if grapple is used to just traverse the area it'd be a shorter cooldown, but if used to attack an enemy it's regular cooldown.
-
I've been using the grenade that suspends on hit. Longer cool down but I still manage to have fairly quick cool downs. Grapple is not the way. It's a gimmick. Go with crowd control. It's infinitely better.
-
Grapple has an instant cooldown if you grapple to a tangle you or another player create. There are several ways of making tangles. Also you can grapple off the same tangle multiple times.
-
1 ReplyEdited by NerfPaladins06: 3/3/2023 11:21:14 PMIn pvp it can stay the same but in pve only the melee portion should go on a long cooldown. The traversal usage in pve should be like it was in story, on cooldown after a grapple but resets when: • you hit the ground after grappling air • you grapple a point or a tangle
-
Maybe in the campaign, in PvP it shouldn't even exist in the game due to how the game handles movement and hit registration. Lose-lose.
-
THIS. I seriously thought the cooldown on the campaign version of strand grapple was going to be the standard cooldown because it honestly doesn't even feel all that broken in pve. It's just more fun that way. Idk why they decided to make the cooldown so long but thY literally makes it not worth the grenade slot at all.
-
Thread of generation made it feel better if you haven’t tried that yet.
-
Bare miminum let me spam grapples when I have woven mail on or something in pve.
-
Upvote for a fix! I will gladly burn a fragment to have two, but that cooldown needs lowered 50% as well to stay in the loop.
-
Yeah. It definitely feels like I’m forced to use it with a tangle, but also when playing with tangles, I can do 5 rapid grapple melees back to back and make another tangle with the cooldown never ending…. So it bypasses the cooldown anyways, and the long cooldown doesn’t effect much. It’d be fun to have a movement exotic that reduced the cooldown but also removed the punch, making it into a pure movement tool. As it is, for me at least, I play only with the tangles and they’re quite devastating, but that leaves it on a 15 second cooldown, with problems when tangles spawn in the wrong place, tangles get destroyed, or worst of all, the grapple hits an enemy next to the tangle and I have to get kills with a demo weapon to get it back up. It’s certainly fun on warlock with each spamable grapple punch making 2 unraveling threadings, but the cooldown is cringe and makes it feel weak without a tangle.
-
Pick up Thread of Generation from the fragment thing. Gives back energy based on damage dealt. On warlock with unravel on a boss and just dealing damage to it, I can get my grenade back in 20-30s. This is with shackle on so it has an even longer cooldown.

Edited by Infamous067: 3/3/2023 7:50:12 PMLol there is a fragment that grants grenade energy for simply doing damage. Max out discipline and equip a few grenade mods and you will literally have infinite grapple. I paired my build with necrotic grips so Im going around spamming grapple AND poison at the same time on top of spamming the weavers. Oh and yes the poison will also stack with the fragment so you get the grenade instantly
-
Infinite rockets... that is all
-
Fragment: gain grenade energy from dealing any kind of damage.
-
This is not Spiderman; just a copy of Spiderman. This is Destiny 2, where your guardians are NOT Legends. Hahahahahahaha! Become Legend. NOT! Hahahahahahaha!

2 RepliesAnd from what I can tell, haven't actually unlocked strand yet, the grapple won't finish recharging until you hit the ground if you use up the charge...... wtf is the point of that?
