Unplayable for me. Can't beat Calus after 97 attempts
The game is too hard for me now. 97 attempts (Classic) still can't beat him (9 hours at this one spot). Looks like I got skilled out of the game. No point in playing if I can't beat the campaign. :(
I just wasted $50 on a game that I can't even enjoy. I am not even mad. Just sad. I play games as an escape from the BS that is my life. I do not need stress coming at me from a hobby. :(
Edit: I eventually beat it. My biggest problem was getting booped off the platform on the second stage. I got so good at the first stage, I was clearing it in a few minutes. Final clear was at attempt 111 (Eleventy-first for Tolkien nerds :p)
Still think they made things too hard. I want to go back to the days where I could tear through the campaign in <2 hours and get to grinding. Took me a total of ~18 hours over two days.
This game seems to be a massive psyche experiment to see how long they can keep you engaged as time spent in-game is central to higher stock prices as it leads to a higher probability of a player spending money on ancillary products like rank boosts or silver for cosmetics.
Sometimes, when I play, I feel like I am in a rat maze. :/

1 ReplyThere's a cheese spot under the stairs that you can use if it helps, and for the second phase there's another cheese spot to keep you out of danger. Unfortunately, I saw it after my team beat their head over that mission. If you don't want to cheese it, the method that we used was to be constantly moving. When the first tormentor spawns, revert your focus to it. Again, constantly keep running around the sides of the arena on the walk way. I'm not sure if you're doing it with a team, but we had one in our group focused on moving and clearing out the platforms that are between walk ways. It seems like a lot to handle, but it's not. The Tormentors make it feel relentless, but if you keep running around on the catwalks while your taking shots at them, they'll eventually just walk off the edge. In every single one of our runs, not a single Tormentor was ever killed in that room. Osteo Striga and Witherhoard are two of the guns that make doing damage on Calus easier. Glad you finished it! I tried the first mission on legend, and it wasn't bad until fighting a super jacked, spongy Tormentor. I immediately said "nope" out loud and chose to just do the regular campaign, and did not regret the decision. I also am not playing to be stressed out, I feel it. Calus kind of sucked, even on regular too, but he wasn't bad. After my first death on that, all I could think about is how awful he would be on Legend. 111 tries is more fortitude than most, feckin' grats dude.

Edited by Grim: 3/5/2023 9:16:57 AMOn classic? your joking right? Whats your load out you have to use some good dps weapons use any GL or heavy GL cause they got buffed with lightfall. If you have witherhoard its really useful as well for that tick damage. If your still stuck then run it with a random at most you only need one other person to get the adds off your back and while the random takes aggro off of you then you melt calus with a GL or a trace rifle if have that instead. Its a two phase the second phase pulls you in closer and calus chases you around with dual swords so be prepared to run around and avoid him as you continue to try to melt him.

Have you tried using Rat King w/ Catalyst for the Calus fight? Should help relieve some of the pressure from the adds. (΄◉◞౪◟◉｀)

the boss is easy just long, it is just run dmg boss, kill tormentor, dmg boss, kill tormentor, dmg boss, 2nd phase has no hp. also if you can't do it on normal you just suck I'm sorry but normal boss is so easy anyone can do it.

2 RepliesDon't feel bad. This is not a well designed boss fight for a single player. I was able to handle the entire campaign solo with only a few spots that gave me any trouble, but this fight is incredibly unfair. It's so unfair that I legitimately feel the fireteam size weighting is bugged for that fight. Either that, or it's simply overtuned.

We were ignoring them, as they didn’t seem to do much. We used strand, and I went with Osteo while he went with Thunderlord. Edit: I was 1760, while my son was 1680.

Don't use Strand that's what I did. I struggled on legendary always getting knocked off the platform on last stage, then I switched back to void tether and found it much easier and completed it first try. Fusion rifles take calus's shield off quickly and machine guns do good head damage to him (12k) per bullet, I found snipers and grenade launchers weak against him. To be honest on a friends advice I used the new quicksilver autorifle on him and then as soon as I had the 3 grenades ready I popped them at him for 30k and every 5th or 6th bullet fired a mini homing missle that hit for an extra 5k which all added up and made it manageable. I've also heard the new bow is good aswell but don't use them myself.

I used a scout + shotgun + Ghorn combo. Stay on the first platform kill the adds that spawn and come to it, when the tormentors come keep rotating till dead, and keep hitting the boss when you have chance. Second phase you want to use strand to keep distance from calus and keep hitting him with shotgun and rockets, he has less health than phase 1 so he goes down quickly This was on legendary at 1740ish light level, high resilience and void resistance mods are useful.
