In the clip Noble Actual it shows Six's Helmet some years after the glassing of Reach, also during Halsey's speech at the end of Lone Wolf, for those who don't know, glassing is when one or many Covenant vessels bombard a planet with plasma until every square cm is destroyed, water evaporated and solids i.e. grass, rock etc. becomes a substance similar to glass, does this mean that Spartan-III's are resistant to glassing- I don't think so.
What about y'all?

Jun is MIA. Why do you think they always say: "Spartans never die, they're just Missing In Action." There's a death scene for everyone exept for Jun.
-
Posted by: azombiepikachu Then why don't you contemplate why the grass and rocks and stuff survived it too!?!
This is several years later, they grew back.
-
Here we go again..... The Helmet is more of a symbolic representation of what happened to Six and the rest of the Spartans. They died for Reach, and that's their resting place.
-
Noble 6 is a magnet.
-
Six blew up the carrier that was glassing that co-ordinates on Reach. They sent in the units to kill off the survivors instead, most likely because glassing requires vast amounts of energy, and energy is costy, better to send in some units to finish the job, not that much left anyway.

If you don't believe me, turn subtitles on.
Posted by: ZackBlink Spartan-III helment cant be ivisable becaues kat's got puctured by sinper shot.
Not sure what "ivisable" is. But Kat's helmet was punctured by a very unique piece of Covenant technology. The Needle. The Needle is a highly concentrated piece of bromotrifloromethane know to you lay people as "blam-ite" what happened was they got EMPed and her shields were down. Then a Covenant sniper fired the Needle directly into the posterior phalanx of the helmet. Obviously the weakest part of the helmet. Also it is widely know that bromotrifloromethane easily disintergrates the particles of the unique blend of herbs and spices... I mean the unique blend of alloys that make up the SPARTAN-III Helmet I hope I cleared that up. : )
-
did you read the data pads? it would take every covenant ship available hundreds of years to glass every square inch of the planet. they just glass the primary areas and besides in the novel they didn't glass the whole planet either cause they were lookin for something
-
Well, since no-one else has said it yet... I'm afraid if I told you, I'd have to kill you.
-
I agree with the statements on here about the fact that this area of Reach was already destroyed. I site the fact that in the last "mission" where you fight till you die the area is already burned, and the atmosphere already smoldering. Glassing also is simply a term used to indicate that fact that a planet is uninhabitable. Not a literal term for turning the entire planet to glass. In the 40's during the Manhattan Project that referred to the damage from an atomic bomb as "glassing" something. It took me a second to figure that part out as well.

Murphy's Law.

********SPOILERS********* In Halo: First Strike the covenant are searching for an artifact that seems to be buried in the cave system underneath CASTLE Base; for those uninlightened people that's where Jun took her. I'm assuming the mountain thing in the background is the mountain where CASTLE base is. ********SPOILERS END*********** Hope this helps. :)

What about y'all?
SPARTAN-III Helmets are made of a unique blend of polycarbonate materials including strong metals such as steel and iron ore and a number of durable but flexible plastics. The visors are also impressively manufactured with the use of a tempered glass base set with the addition of polarized lens material for use for the extra-vehicular activities. It would really take a lot to get a crack in the visor... which I doubt I took on Lone Wolf but oh well. I'm not suprised that my helmet survived the glassing of Reach. I mean I got smashed with a brute gravity hammer and it wasn't damaged at all. Its all science my friend! OH and one last thing... WHO THE HELL CARES
he does apparently no need to act like that
Posted by: MarkyB plus if he was so monumental his helmet would have been found and stuck on ebay
*grabs his whip and fedora* that helmet belongs in a museum!

nothing can with stand a direct shot, helmets dont stop dead on shots they do however deflect shots that might graze or clip your head. this is why our helmets designs in modern military hasnt changed much.
Posted by: Dpwn3rrr yes they do, in fact the state in the Halo First Strike book that the covenant never miss an inch of planet to glass, ground and all, but they didnt glass mountain base because of the artifact.
if you read data pads they say its impossible to glass an entire planet it would take to long. the ai thinks the term is bad because you cant glass the entire planet in a plausable time frame.
-
In my opinion, they already glassed that area of reach. I mean look around. There are no trees or plants. So he took his helmet off and tossed it on the already glassed area.
-
This
Posted by: Yacob521 they dont glass evert inch, only enough to poison the atmosphere
Been awhile since i've read the book's, but in one of the handful of reach datapad's i've read it's mentioned that the covenant wouldn't actually be able to glass an entire planets surface because it would take their entire fleet years to accomplish working non-stop.
Posted by: Dpwn3rrr yes they do, in fact the state in the Halo First Strike book that the covenant never miss an inch of planet to glass, ground and all, but they didnt glass mountain base because of the artifact.
Probably. That's probably why jason jones has spent a few years working on pre production for the new IP so they don't have to retcon stuff down the road when new content comes out.
