I'm genuinely curious and just looking for some input because from what I understand, most Playlist activities don't require a power level anymore and the ones that do have power levels attached to them just depower you anyway. The only thing I can think of where light has an advantage at the moment is trials of osiris. So what is the general point of having a light level after light fall? (P.S. I haven't been able to log into the game as of yet to see for myself what new additions are in the game, I'm just going by what I've seen/heard from patch notes and updates.)

1 ReplyAs I've said since the early days of d1 it's not a power level it's an access key

5 RepliesIf power level grind goes, I go too. You have to remember that some of the Destiny community are MMO style players, and we are your enemy. We want the opposite of what you want, so Bungie is left with a tough choice: Please the smooth brains that don’t like to grind, or please the advanced gamers that like to play MMO’s. And to your next statement “then go play an MMO”, I say to you “go play a simple minded game like call of duty where you get your guns straight outa the box”.

Ikr...start at 1600 and they 150 something points but after campaign you get max infuse so there is 0 need or reason

5 RepliesThey are making changes to retire light levels. They can't just big bang it, there needs to be a steadily integrated replacement. I think we will see some transition in the next season.
-
1 ReplyAll they had to do was make everyone light level 100. You do quests or story to open activities. Once activities are open, the modifiers apply. You level up via artifact but it would only boost open world & activities Bungie noted already. The rest with set negatives would simply take away from the 100. No need for ANY light levels or other junk. Ultimately, though, I think 90% of our time is spent chasing light levels and keeps the game moving...so I can't see bungie removing the light levels.

24 RepliesWhy is there level in a majority of games?
-
I wondered the same when I read the dev note saying how they were making everything harder by capping light levels. What's the point of light levels? It becomes just a gate to certain activities that force a certain light level.
-
It will keep you longer in the gaming loop. Nothing special about it.
-
To bore you into grinding more and more and playing like a zombified fool
-
Its just to keep you on the hamster wheel, and lock you out of end game. But to be fair you do get quite a bit of blues and throw away loot by just doing the campaign
-
2 RepliesLight level is for endgame content, not laziness.
-
It makes a difference, too 🤣🤣 Reems of meaningless words called patch notes Yes it's really that broken
-
3 RepliesMysteryverse You make some valid points and I agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

2 RepliesIt’s to make a barrier to entry for endgame content
-
Got to have that hamster wheel....
-
All apart of the hamster wheel, they keep you constantly grinding to play the same content you were playing last season.
-
-
Because if there was no power chase playtime would be cut in half there would be like nothing to do and Bungie doesn’t want that.
-
1 Replyexactly there's no point to grinding power levels for the artefact which kept me playing longer( always ground out to ten above max with the artefact). i dont raid but i do enjoy the dungeons now i cant over power them im done once i have maxed out. cant be arsed doing the same old strikes over and over again
-
2 RepliesTo control you and make sure you help fill in the horribly boring ritual playlist. So glad I quit.😊
-
1 ReplyThey've already stated it's going away entirely next season. They would of had to delay LF in order to impliment it in season 20.
-
Next season they not gonna increase the cap for pinnacle nor power since they gonna change it in final shape
-
Because the content won't keep you on the game.
-
efficiency, laziness both the same thing really

Edited by max: 2/28/2023 8:43:48 PMLight level is a number they use to let you do 50% of the full damage without telling you that you do 50% damage Instead they say 'maximum effective light'
