EDITED: People are focusing on the wrong thing here, focus on the fact that Lightfall costs a lot more than The Taken King did and The Taken King gave us so much compared to what Ligthfall is bringing. Barely anything in Lightfall will be new.
Food for thought.
The Taken King included:
* 6 new PvP maps
* 3 new PvP modes
* Sparrow Racing
* 4 new strikes
* 12 new Exotics
* 3 new subclasses
* Plus dozens of new legendary weapons & armor
Lightfall is bringing us:
* 3 new subclasses
* Old PvP maps from the vault
* 1 new PvP map later in the year
* Reskinned moon and old season wepons
* Increased difficulty across the board
There's obviously more to add to these lists, this is a quick comparrison.
What happened Bungie? Dropped the aid of other studios and decided to self publish to underdeliver yet continue to keep charging as if you have multiple studios working with you and still working with Activision. Corporate greed at it's finest.
Content is hard, don't overdeliver.

I have fond memories of TTK but man you've got rose tinted eyeballs.

This post has to be clowning. TTK was amazing at release but after you did the single (admittedly amazing and still my favourite) raid for the umpteenth time that was it. The entire narrative grinded to a halt until Rise of Iron. Crucible maps... I guess I'm lucky I don't give a damn in which confined space I shoot at people while they shoot at me. They could add 12 new ones in Lightfall, my reaction would be the same as it is now. The entire pricing argument is hilarious to me. $100, more than TWICE what TTK cost. Damn, that sure sounds awful. Until you realise that OP is omitting the fact that the $100 price tag covers all releases until Final Shape and the $50 version includes the first season. Oops. I can understand some people aren't too enthused about D2 right now but Good Lord complaining about the price in the way you did makes no sense.

2 Repliesthe taken king also had a content drought for nearly a year.

The taken king 40$ was 1 DLC. Lightfall 100$ is 1 DLC and 4 season passes and 2 dungeons.

So no new exotics in lightfall? I thought i saw some in one of the trailers. Weird...
-
The Taken King was Destiny at its best. Awesome strikes, awesome destination. Damn, Court of Oryx!!! The closes D2 came was Forsaken. The rest is junk. That’s why Destiny slided for me onto the reduced price pile to buy. No more seasons, just DLC play and forget until next DLC. I don’t see TK in Lightfall. Just another money grab. Reduced price pile at this point.

4 RepliesLightfall is $50, not $100, and if you're going to compare the two at that price point, you need to include everything that comes with the $100 (4 seasons of content, dungeon key) In terms of "added" content you are comparing Y2 of D1 when Destiny was barren and they needed to add major things, to Y6 of D2 that has only one year left and they are doing the minimum. While I agree that "bang for your buck" has certainly diminished, your comparisons are inaccurate and just come off as Bungie hate.

2 RepliesEdited by nonchalantone: 2/26/2023 2:36:41 AMYou can't argue with suckers and whales, my dude. Let it be before they crucify you! Lol "A fool and his money".....Bungie knows this, and has the formula down pat. Hype trailers, sell the product, then nerf EVERYTHING once they've bought it. Happens every season. You won't win with the defenders on here. They're just gonna hit you with the "it's my money" comment, like they JG. Wentworth in this piece!! Lol!!

It’s cause Bungie likes charging more for less.

1 ReplyEdited by Entity: 2/26/2023 11:38:24 AMMechanically speaking, Taken King doesn't have nearly that much to offer compared to the lightfall expansion lol so many old and dated system back then that are straight up Archaic

I don't think anyone can argue d1 dlc did core content far better then d2 has. New strikes + New pvp maps and modes kept the core playliats fresh. With d2 were getting promises of changes to lake o shadows and arms dealer and awful battlegrounds added. Come on now I also don't think anyone can argue that looking at base lightfall vs ttk would be a ttk W. Of course lf will be better if you count its 4 season passes + dungeon pass alongside it - but that's not factoring in the $60 extra for them. Ttk had more then base lf Lf + all its extra content = more then ttk but also more $
-
Wow. You can get 3 1tb hard drives with that money.

14 RepliesTaken king was also just taken king Lightfall is the dlc plus 4 seasons for the entire year.. You can’t compare one dlc with an entire year

1 ReplyEdited by BozzyTheDrummer: 2/26/2023 6:03:52 AMIf you’re going to compare expansions, that at least make an effort to not exclude everything coming in Lightfall just to make you’re point hold any weight 😂 Lightfall will also include 1 new raid and 1 reprised raid, along with 2 new dungeons. It will have 4 seasons worth of content, weapons, armor, etc… regardless of your definition of “content”, that’s still more than what was provided in TTK. Not to mention the dungeons and seasons are a separate price.
-
You undermined your entire post by admitting that your content lists are incomplete 🙄
-
Increasing diffukty and NOT including sparrow racing is reason enough to justify a price increase.
-
2 RepliesDestiny players are the dumbest gaming community. Lightfall is also $40. The ANNUAL PASS is $100. That’s for all of the seasons plus 2 dungeons. $10 each plus the 40 for lightfall itself.

3 RepliesThings get more expensive as time passes. Cokes used to be 25 cents 🤷🏼♂️
