My Friends Bungie Account for Hacked Please Help

I am not sure where else to post this or who else to contact but if I can get any traction I would greatly appreciate it. Recently my friend's bungie account has recently been hacked. My friend's bungie name is now North#2699 (Originally Gold#2699). The hacker got access into his steam account and email and was able to get past his 2 step verification. He has since recovered his steam and email, but not before the hacker linked his Xbox account to my friend's Bungie account. The name of the linked Xbox account of the hacker is NorthOfD2. I am writing this forum post on his behalf of my friend to avoid the hacker seeing this post himself. My friend has played destiny right from the start of d2 and throughout most of d1 and has over 7k hours of play time on steam alone in d2. He has thankfully provided me with screenshots of his conversation he had with the hacker via steam messages as proof of the situation. My friend needs the hacker's Xbox account removed from his bungie account so he can have complete control over his bungie account again and would greatly appreciate any assistance from Bungie in doing so. Here are the screenshots of conversations between the hacker (Trials) and my friend (Gold): https://gyazo.com/e5df023644c613d8400725c7cb266735 https://gyazo.com/a2c95892a0cd8eea0dcf17806f0a090a https://gyazo.com/b0e2faf279aeefe4fae6f73aedcffcab https://gyazo.com/f44b29bf2c692c7bf561d07bd544350e https://gyazo.com/905e49264a27851674a4753e675c7bab
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to the #Help forum where you can find answers and troubleshoot any Destiny in-game / bungie.net / companion app issues, courtesy of other helpful players and Mentors. • Hello there, In order to unlink an account, they will first have to disable cross save and/or unlink accounts, to do so they must be able to authenticate all of the accounts. Bungie cannot forcibly de-link them. I would suggest contacting the platform concerning gaining access the platform account. If you are unable to gain access to the account, then they will not be able to deactivate cross save or unlink it from their current Bungie.net profile.

To clarify, my friend did NOT participate in any recovery services, the email was leaked which allowed the hacker to gain access to the steam and email, and ultimately the bungie account. We have since recovered the steam but the hacker remains to have control over the account through his xbox account on his bungie profile.

      • Wow, that’s an interesting read. Did he pay for a recovery or something? I’m just wondering how that person got his account credentials?

        • Since bungie will not help you I would report the Xbox account to Microsoft directly with proof. I would also log onto steam and clear out my vault and every piece of gear on the characters and then delete the characters. I would make it pointless for this person to have the account. Your friend should create a new account if they still want to play destiny.

        • That really stinks... My friend posted about something very similar a few days back in this same forum where her account was hacked and her name was changed (you can check my posts to find hers). Thus far no one has been willing to help... I truly hope you get a better response, and if you do, please point that person to my clan mate as well. Good luck.

          • Reddit is a better place for this to be seen. Or Twitter.
