It may be an unpopular opinion, but personally if Scorch can’t kill players in PvP, Child of the Old Gods shouldn’t be able to either. Its not a common thing to be killed with it I understand, but I don’t see why something like that is able to kill opponents whereas setting them on fire can’t.
Before anyone says “well you wouldn’t understand,” I’m a Warlock main. I’ve used both Scorch builds and CotOG and there is a night and day difference. If I had a Blowout for everytime I scorched someone down to 1 HP and they didn’t die from the burning, you’d think I was in Iron Banner.
(Edit:) Please actually read the post. If you respond and it looks like you didn’t read it I’m just gonna laugh at you.

1 Replydid you know that you can shoot a child of the old gods? And if scorch could kill players, then a touch of flame fusion grenade would 1 shot any guardian

Ok, I know where you are coming from but please do consider the following. You are comparing a class verb to an aspect. The child of the old gods is a bit more powerful because of this. Meanwhile, scorches are only meant to be SMALL damage ticks, and you're forgetting the most important thing about scorch, It. has. a. scale. where COTOG is just out there vibing, the only thing that really affects the little guy is what rift you use, it's a constant and if you sit in it like a dummy you are GOING to die. Scorch on the other hand has two main uses in PVP IMO marking targets for a few seconds to know their location and for the occasional earth-shattering Ka-Boom via Ignitions, but tbh it's mostly for the former unless your goal is to run a napalm death machine in PVP. Besides, the main reason scorch may not kill in PVP is SO you can get those great ignition plays, It may not be as consistent as a child of the old gods but oh boi I did find much joy in the one collate incandescent sniper shot I got, not as satisfying as a cloud strike collate but its damn close... Either way, I hope you find new and better ways to explode people in the PVP arena, good luck and have fun

You can do the same for Arc holes as well. Probably Strand creepy crawlers too. Unskilled abilities should have no place killing.
-
3 RepliesYou have to be pretty terrible to die to the child. I came up against several void warlocks this weekend, and I didn’t die a single time to that ability. I either walk away from it, or I shoot it. Actually I did die one time because the game glitched out. I literally ran across the map, but the game kept giving me the tick damage even though I was no where near the child. It was one of those bungie things.

Scorch has nothing to do with Child of the Old Gods A viable comparison would be Arc soul vs Child of the Old Gods Tell me which one is at disadvantage here
-
Sure but make give child the ability to proc ignitions. No, I didn’t think so.
-
Tbh U probably do have that many blowouts, albeit deleted now
-
2 RepliesOne is a additional effect on multiple abilities and the other is an entire aspect on a long cooldown, only effects a single area, can be destroyed and has travel time. Now tell me why child shouldnt be able to kill

I agree. It already slows and drains your hp. It tracks like -blam!- crazy.

1 ReplyWhy isn’t this a poll question? Child of The Old Gods hands down

Seriously, all the broken and buggy crap in this game and this is what you write a post on? If Childs is killing you…. That’s a learn to play issue

Can’t believe I’m finding someone else who’s saying this. Totally agree CotOG should be treated like Scorch and can’t kill. It’s easily the most obnoxious thing to play against imo. Once the fanfare from Strand dies I’m kinda expecting Voidlock usage to increase and some small nerfs to follow. It’s melee is pretty silly too
-
But you WOULDN'T understand, child of the old gods kills you because you can either leave the aoe or shoot it. Scorch doesn't kill you because you can't get rid of it you just have to let it run its course.
-
5 RepliesLol this is such a bottom of the barrel scum take. It does 11 damage every 1 second, how terrifyingly OP right? Pathetic.
-
It's slow so you should die if you're slow to move.
-
If the void soul was destructable id say nah its fine if it can kill. Though with the bugs that randomly happen where barracades and void souls become immune is where i say yes, it shouldnt kill, but instead pull you to like 2 hp as a baracade or scorch burn might. Till thats fixed im with you, but after it is(assuming they ever fix it) then sure let it kill.

4 RepliesScorch is easy to proc, because it comes from solar aspects/fragments/melees/grenades/weapons. Child of the old gods requires an aspect slot and a class ability usage, melees/grenades/weapons/etc. only help as far as getting another class ability up. Therefore, of course child is going to be more effective.
