More true today, but the raid race... if it ever had any credibility, lost it all when PC joined as a platform in Destiny 2.
Unless you separate the platforms or enforce technical parity, the Raid race as a legitimate contest is a farce and always will be.
Facts.
And even if you separated by platform or at least divided console and PC it still wouldn't solve the issue because of the huge technical disparities amongst PC user specs. You're not winning world's 1st unless you spend 2k+ on your rig....
In what reality is that in anyway reasonably fair? It isn't.
Related, but not exactly the same thing... the recent winners of the newest FFXIV raid's world 1st were using unsanctioned add-ons... basically undermining the intended technical parity to ensure fairplay and an honest competition. They were shamed and disqualified, btw.
In D2, if you have a 2k rig runninng 200+ fps you have a significant technical advantage over 99% of the rest of the player base... and it's unreasonable to expect any player to have to invest 2k + in a PC rig in order to compete. But, for some reason... this is okay? It's not. Delusional if you think it is... in any way, justifiably fair.
Tldr... the raid race is a farce, they should just add a contest mode selector and if you clear it within the 1st week you should get the emblem.
Because until there is cross platform technical parity, these contests are pay to win beauty pageants where the results are dubious.

7 RepliesEdited by Sohsuh: 2/4/2023 11:54:43 PMThe funny thing is that in the gaming world Destiny is seen as about as hardcore/competitive as checkers. Nobody cares about Destiny accomplishments except for the 1% of players who for some reason revolve their entire life around it. Right now there are tons of people who have day 1 emblems who, in those weird PVE nerds minds, "didn't deserve it." Every single day 1 has had people who cleared it go and help people who didn't clear it. Clanmates, friends, family, etc. People see strats and watch videos on day 1 every time. It's hilarious that the reason these slobs care is because they want to feel special. That is literally the sole reason. They feel that the emblem isn't as special now. That's it! LOL. I mean, how can you not laugh at that? A bunch of people who care so much about an extremely casual game that people getting an emblem 1 day after them is something that they are legitimately upset about. It's unreal. The funny part is nothing is changing for those people clearing it on the first day. It's not going to be easier for them. They will go in just like any day 1 and get their clear. It's other people getting it a day later that is upsetting them. It would be like a store having a 1 day sale and you go in there and get the item you want and you're super excited about it as if people will be lining up to high 5 you afterwards like "Hey man you did it! You really did it! You are so cool for doing it!" Then the next day the store extends the sale for 1 more day, and some other people go and buy the same item, and then all the people who got the sale on day 1 start lining up outside the store to yell about how their item is no longer special. Their item is now meaningless because other people were able to get the sale a day late. "My new TV looks like crap now because some other person I don't know got the TV on sale a day after the sale was supposed to end! Gosh darn this really burns my toast!" Wake up people. It's a video game. It's a super casual video game that nobody should care that much about.

Everything is a drama?’ 😂

4 RepliesWait till people find out you take more damage at higher frame rates from certain damage sources it's often better to just play the game at 60fps (in PvE).
-
I’m impartial to the situation, by all means players who feel this strongly about a video game should definitely go get that day one emblem, not like it’s gonna help them elevate to a better status in life 🤷🏽, enjoy your little work of art that has no value.

4 RepliesFound the console user. Cry me a river.

5 RepliesWhat I would want is contest mode to replace master mode raids. Give us a 24 hour emblem and a different colour emblem for beating the raid on contest after the first 24 hours.
-
5 RepliesI just want to know how you have to spend 2k+ (assuming that's US Dollars) on your PC to have a chance at competing in world's first. I'm an experienced PC builder (about 27 years), and I know PC components can be expensive right now, but I can build a machine with retail parts for a third of that, and it will exceed D2's minimum specs by a huge margin. You don't need 4K, 200FPS, 64Gb of RAM and an SSD to play D2. It plays well on much less.

I’m trying to understand how you could come to the conclusion that you need a $2k pc to get the first raid completion, but I can’t…

7 RepliesJust incase anyone was taking this post seriously, this is the opinion of someone that has a grand total of less than 20 raid clears and hasn’t done one in over a year.

Using a pc or not. It takes incredible skill and coordination to run these raids day one. The preparation, the communication and the dedication is o a completely different level then even hardcore raiders have. No matter the rig they would still be top in the world. Everyone keep saying you dont have to watch or have to raid etc etc. We are all nerds and we are gamers, here to pay the game at our level. It you comment like this your level is miles off the then what most of us have.

5 RepliesI love this time of year. I just love delicious salty tears!

21 RepliesIt doesn't matter, saltadweebo and his crew of automatons will win it again all while running muted coms on stream to really entertain his audience. Then we'll get told we are all garbage and anything we use needs nerfed. I'll be washing my hair. All weekend.

2 RepliesLet’s face it, Bungie doesn’t care enough to separate the two even though there is massive differences between console and pc.

Never seen someone just shooting Dregs so fired up. The raid race is just a show case for streamers. Most of us can’t be bothered to hit our heads against the wall for hours on end and are waiting for it to be over so we can go into the new raid and actually enjoy the new content.

9 RepliesIt doesn't matter because it's a video game 👍 Personally day 1 you should have the option of contest mode or normal... or just leave contest mode up for a week so everyone can participate..... or just leave contest mode permanently as an option so everyone can try to get the contest mode emblem (and harder content is fun AF)🤷♂️

2 RepliesNo one gives a -blam!-. Let the most dedicated players who have invested battle it out.

Unless the Raid exotic is a guaranteed drop during this 48hr race I personally see no reason to run it. For those who are running it for the challenge and emblem, I wish you all the best of luck. 👍

8 RepliesEdited by Hession: 2/5/2023 5:29:34 AMThose 28 full raid clears really giving you experience ehh? With 489 dungeon clears i'd think raids would be easy?
-
Edited by Why is this happening?: 2/5/2023 4:36:29 PMThe only people who actually care about it are gatekeepers and content creators whó rely on things like this for engagement, and are obsessed with flexing and feeding their egos. The average player couldn't give less of a shít.

Okay so I’m your title you had a point. Worlds first only matters to the turbo virgin stat checkers who think destiny matters in the real world. But the quality of your rig would make almost zero difference.
-
1 ReplyIt's a lame marketing ploy. Nothing in video games matters. I'm sure there's lots of stat bros that disagree, and I wouldn't take them seriously either. Wearing a raid jacket you have to pay a premium for has got to be one of the most mock-worthy things ever, lol

2 RepliesGuess what? Nobody cares in the real world. It’s like the Matrix. Nothing is real. Especially this empty game. Hahahahahahaha! There is no spoon. Hahahahahahaha! Welcome to hollowness!

Meanwhile i have been doing day ones with a mid tiers PC.... You dont need a week to complete a contest mode (aka day one) They mase it 48h to prevent the issues from previous day ones btw. (Since bungie doesnt know how to code their game)

1 ReplyLiterally only weirdos care about this subject at all. I'm a fairly avid raider and couldn't care less. Only complete fn losers even participate in the whole thing. 6 RepliesWhat tf is your point here? You complain cause you can't turn your little controller quick enough or what is happening? PC literally ALWAYS and constantly gets nerfed. You have more aim assist than any other game and still can't compete? The tradeoff used to be more recoil to make up for the insane aim assists you guys get. Now Bungie even added all that recoil to mouse and keyboard. Controller is WAY more overpowered in destiny as an input method and you still feel you can't compete? Get better then. The game is dominated by controller players. They have all the tools that work for them. Theres plenty of controller players who can do way more than mouse and keyboard players cause of all the assists. Yet you still want more? Do you need Bungie to add random 360 spin mechanics to mouse and keyboards that they have to randomly deal with or when is your entitled little brain satisfied? (Besides the point that raid races are terrible in general, contest should indeed be optional and leave the option for normal always. Raiders already are a tiny minority of the playerbase, theres way too few that are THAT dedicated to want to play contest.)
