Playing against a stacked team as a freelance player absolutely sucks.
Why remove freelance?
-
I’m a D2 vanilla player I’ve played countless hours through thick and thin of this game I took a break for the past 6 months I only started playing again recently back 2 I was excited to play freelance iron banner to get that shader but seeing thats not a thing anymore I will be permanently uninstalling D2 I thought about getting the new expansion but -blam!- that bungie always been the knee to the streamer’s/sweats of the community
-
1 ReplyLow player count made the queue times sucky for teams, so bungo instead of making some fundamental changes to pvp that would reinvigoret the crucible, went with their usual cheap route and just simply consolidated the player pool.
-
1 ReplyBungie really said we’ll get rid of freelance so more stacks can verse more solos.
-
Bungie is continuing to consolidate the modes in order to have 1 big player pool so sbmm works better. It’s not working but that’s why freelance is being discontinued.
-
Because Bungie cares about your mental health. (They lie BTW)
-
1 ReplyWhat? Don't like losing every match? Working as intended. How else will Bungie get you to play their game?
-
It's garbage 6 matches 0-6. Why does bungie actively ruin their own game?
-
I thought it was a bad idea initially but after playing quite a bit solo. Never saw more than a 4 stack on the other team and I would have a 4 stack on mine. My biggest gripes are the inconsistencies in the connections and the scoring that doesn’t make any sense. Lost a few games where my team had more points than the other. Makes zero sense.

Because they added fire team based matchmaking to iron banner
-
Because they added fbmm.
-
2 RepliesI'm solo. Almost to my second reset. Not one stack. You must have the world's worse luck... I guess?
-
1 ReplyWhile I agree with your post, absolutely kicking in the -blam!- of a stacked team entirely solo feels incredible.
-
Because the packs of Streamers (Bungle free advertising Division) could not pub stomp each other, as the solo players were all in the Solo PlayList. So to keep the streamers around, Bungle removed Solo and forced the Solo players into the normal "Pub Stomp" list.
-
Because PVP is in such a terrible state in the game that they no longer have enough player engagement to dream of supporting a split population so they are instead acting like they have fixed the problem with their great new fireteam based matchmaking. So now we have SBMM, lobby balancing, AND fireteam sorting all while deciding the outcome of the match before it ever starts. Quite a bit under the hood for a company who "fixed" connection problems at the launch of D2 by simply removing the players ability to see the connection quality of other players in the lobby. You know what is funny though they really think people believe what they say. The only thing I believe from them was their slide deck explaining how they have come to believe the best way for them moving forward is to be a fast food type developer where you get it on a bun and out the door.

2 RepliesPretty sure they stated they’ve rolled out a system that matches you mostly with fireteams of similar size, making freelance redundant. They’re planning to roll this out to other modes, including Trials, over time. Was part of the changes to IB this time IIRC
-
Hotel-Why no Trivago?
-
I have the same problem, I solo play and its constantly pitting me against 4/5 or 6 stacks while my team at max has a 4 stack. They said freelance is gone because the matchmaking is 'good' now that that doesnt happen anymore...... Guess not.

1 ReplyEdited by GeneJumper: 2/3/2023 2:05:26 PMI solo q and have almost never come up against stacked teams. When I have they have been awful, worse than me, I wanted them back next match ! I don’t care about wins/losses , as long as matches are fair and fun, which they have been thus having a good time this IB For me this IB with no free-lance is vast improvement!
-
when solo ib now biggest team you can come up against is a 3 stack thats it has protection now on that.... and ib has been fairly fair the only thing thats killing it for me is void bubble titans there uptime is way too quick considering they get shield uptime aswell it needs to be rebalanced in my opinion
-
Guessing consolidation due to low population, I played in 6 stack emote parties and played the same teams numerous times, only fun thing about it, yes its that sad.
-
No enough players.
-
Better to keep the pool bigger. As a solo I never did freelance anyway and if this many people want freelance then surely there will be loads in the playlist to match with?
-
Op, why no read it was being removed?
-
I've played approx. 4h, got to like 6k rep and didn't see too many stacks. In one match there were two four stacks on both sides.
