Tiger engine

Stop mindlessly parroting clueless content creators. None of you even knew what it was called until yesterday. Changing a games engine isn’t like changing the engine in your car. This is an incredibly stupid topic.

    • But you’re right. People think they know everything, it would probably be easier to make a destiny 3 than change the engine on the current game

      • It's actually nothing like a a car engine, it's more like a tool set

        • Changing a programming engine is way harder than changing a car engine. The whole game would have to be remade with that new engine or a emulator used which would cause even bigger problems when thousands of players try to use it at once. You are talking a years work at least so no new content in that time and then even a new season would take more time to create... this also covers things like events which also would have to be cancelled. Why do you think that NO game switches game engines and studios if needed update the existing game engine. In the past when a game studio switches game engine it is when they are starting development of a new game. In the past studios have switched engine during development but they had to scrap everything they already have and start from scratch. Before you say "OK make D3" are you willing to walk away from the game for 2 to 3 years as this is the minimum time it would take to create a new game. In that time you might have events but even the seasonal content would stop as Bungie would have "all hands" on the new game.

          • Keeping the engine used for halo (20 years ago) with minor updates and then renaming it is best practice for AAA company with millions of dollars in revenue?

            • Seriously? This is just now being talked about? I thought people knew for years that Tiger was the name of the Destiny engine, and that its just a fork of BLAM!? Its obvious thats why the game is in shambles. How people are just figuring this out truly baffles me.

            • It happens all the time on these forums. The reason the streamers and YTers have power if because of the sheep that religiously follow them

So in case anyone missed it, the posts title was click bait so the poster could tell people throwing terms like tiger and game engine around is dumb and uninformed

              • I love it. These people are mindless and it hilarious to see them complain. They act as if they had been asking for a new engine. For years.

                • If it's "an incredibly stupid topic" what does that make you for posting this?? 🤔

                  • I get the frustration but come on bro, you guys act like being away from the game for only 24 hours will kill you. Im not some tech master but I assume handling a live service game with an insane amount of coding could eventually pile up issues. I mod my skyrim and even that is hard especially when my mod list is around 500+. I can mod my game perfectly and still find a new bug or issue and I have to either manually fix it or pray for a modder to patch it up for me. Im not saying the decisions bungie has made are acceptable (especially when it gets to pvp) but cut them some slack, they are human beings at the end of the day. If you don’t like it then by all means go ahead and make your own live service game and try to make it better.

                    • No. Many of the player base have been giving this feedback for YEARS. Just because now all the sudden people are finally listening including content creators doesn't make it suddenly invalid. The current engine can hardly run the game and staying with it only means expansions will get worse and worse as they're not allowed to sunset anymore but somehow have to dumb down anything new for this terrible engine to run it on top of maintaining everything else in the game. Not a single person is arguing that it's a super easy fix, at least not that I've seen. That's never been the argument, the argument is that it is completely and totally necessary for the game to continue without it just getting consistently worse. We need a year of less content to give Bungie the time to be able to manage such a task or we need D3 and need it to be built on a modern engine.

                    • It's probably not the engine, as they are just code and can be upgraded or rewritten as needed. It's probably just people rushing through their job, or Bungie not having any standards for coding practices. Or both, or none of those. What do I know? I don't work for Bungie.
