Retrofit escapade
Thanks for ruining an amazing weapon by nerfing the volatile detonations on this weapon. We are sick of using linears! We loved having an awesome machine gun but now you've ruined it because why?

Bungle: "linear rifles are dominant for damage so we are going to adjust them down." Has it occurred to them that linear rifles are dominant now because nothing else is viable? No of course not. What are you going to use? Swords? Grenade launchers? HAH rockets? Meh. Lmgs are for mobs, they barely tickle bosses, except for the void one that oh wait... if you want line rifles to stop dominating, buff other weapons. This is purely Bungle's fault based on how they design their game, requiring you to do as much damage in as short a time as possible. Of course people are going to pick whatever one weapon does the most damage. If that ceases to be line riffles people will just switch to what ever the new highest damage is. The actual player base who aren't whiny try hard gate keepers or streamers are getting sick of power crunch. Power creep is a problem yes, it will kill your game eventually if it goes unchecked, but power crunch won't kill a game eventually it kills it *now*, and people are getting sick of indulging a small minority of players perversion for abuse and weakness fètishes.

1 ReplyI mean, 40K DPS with the highest total damage in the game for a non exotic weapon after they fixed volatile rounds. The gun is still top tier. Volatile was breaking encounters and giving ridiculous DPS that was easily over double things like 4th horseman or Lord of Wolves with crazy uptime and total damage. Everyone knew it was going to be nerfed/fixed at some point. As for being tired of Linears, Bungie is trying to mix up the Heavy meta for lightfall. That’ll likely involve buffs to swords and GLs DPS and likely a total ammo buff for MGs.

1 ReplyThere is a clip on YT where they compare the damage now and before. It's not nerfed, it's nuked lol I feel sorry for people who spent so much material to enhance it. I used the regular version with TL. It was shredding everything in Insight Terminus GM. Now it's just another LMG. Volatiles in general feel much worse, so Hauberk also got "nerfed" kinda.

And this is exactly why I don't go farm any 'must have' weapons in any season. As soon as they realise something is fun and a little op they jump in and nerf.

Always love how the nerfs come out within days but fixes to progress breaking bugs continue to persist.

There's doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the gun by itself. It still shreds.

It was bound to get patched but I still feel pretty gutted. It was just so satisfying and fun to unload on bosses and watch a gajillion explosions burst out of them. Now it just looks lame.
