Your RNG Is Based On The Amount You Play!

Yes, I stand by what I claim. The more you play the game, the worse your "RNG" gets. I've been investigating this for quite some time, asking random people I play with and get feedback from my Clan mates. There is NO probability based RNG, like most would assume. It's the time you spend and how potentially powerful your drop can be. If you play content with a character you use less than others, then you can be sure that it will rain exotics upon you. I have plenty of players confirm this. Some of my buddies even keep one character as a spare to trigger that RNG. I can clearly say that it has worked for me. But why, you might ask? Everything points to the fact that, yet again, Bungie wants to stall more active players so casual players won't get left behind. I really do not appreciate what is going on and think that RNG should be random without the interference of the devs. Having to grind like a maniac just to repeatedly get the same two or three drop types is insanely annoying. I get that Bungie want's to make a buck with their game, but they also need to respect the time people into playing the game as well. If you don't believe my then just try it. Neglect one of your character for a while and see what happens. What are your experiences? Edit: It's mind-boggling how people see how people treat this like a conspiracy issue. It is common practice to implement mechanics that appeal to our psyche. So what these people think what loot boxes are? They are considered to be harmful and are illegal in some countries, and proof that studios and publishers use anything to generate revenue by stimualting our psychological needs. Especially in gaming. #dopamine

  • I can't believe people actually believe a conspiracy as stupid as this. rng cannot get better or worse, it is always random. If I roll a d6, will my chances of rolling a 6 be higher the longer I wait to roll it? no, my chance of rolling a 6 will always be 1/6

    • RNG is based on how much crying individual players do on the forums. Example, I’ve never made a negative post about the game and my RNG is great. Just a joke btw

    • I have a friend that plays half as much as I do. He always gets the raid exotics before I do. Sometimes multiple times before me. Don’t really care as I’ll eventually get it.

No. If you play a lot and know how to level efficiently then it's usually 2 or 3 weeks to get pinnacle cap and that is without the raid and trials pinnacles. The only time you may struggle is when you just need 1 or 2 slots to hit cap. Since pinnacles came out with shadowkeep there was only the first 2 seasons that took 4 - 5 week's until I worked out the best way to level if I had the time to do so. After many season of consistently reaching pinnacle cap by week 2 or 3 I've worked out an average of about 15 hours a week of playtime is more than enough to do what needs to be done to hit pinnacle cap.

Yep last season I didn't play at all on my warlock got on and it was just random exotic engrams popping up like every five rounds in crucible or gambit or strikes. Did the same thing this season and I got the exotic bow and the hat in the same run of the new dungeon its definitely like you said.

            • I play a good amount and I have every single exotic in the game. The only one that took a long time was Vex, and I got the most recent rng exotic, the bow, on my 1st run.

            • I took a break from D2 ever since they announced the sunsetting of weapons and armor, came back mid of last season bc people told me subclasses were fully customizable and they've made improvements in the game. During last season, I, literally, dropped at least two random exotics each week for the first 3 weeks, after that, the RNG "came back to normal" and have only seen one until now. Granted, have played a LOT less in season of the refurbishment. I wouldn't doubt that it has the same "mechanics" as Pokemon Go and other mobile games: If you take a break, when you return the game rewards you to "hook" you again.

            • Whenever I take a few weeks break, I get random world Exotic drops out the booty. One time I got four in the first gaming sesh after a two month break. When regularly playing, I get one every other week maybe.

                • Yep. You are right. This season is trash, so I play in it a lot less. But, I'm already 350+ season level and done almost everything, I got more exotics and legendaries with good stats then when I played daily. To bad for Bungie, I won't buy Lightfall if Traveler won't be destroyed in opening mission and we do not lost our light. At the end of mission we should decide to join hive and follow sword logic. If it ain't happen - then next year become teenagers sugar story which is disgusting.

                • You might be on to something, I play my Titan regularly with my Warlock Clos behind, exotic drops are uncommon to a rarity. My Hunter on the other hand I haven't played since the Leviathan showed back up a few seasons back when we were swinging scythes around...just today or yesterday had three exotics drop within an hour, two in the same mission. They were crap but still I've never seen that happen.

                  • This is nothing new. It's been an open secret forever now. Confirmed by my own observations (almost at 8k hours in D2 now, not proud of it lol) and many many others. I have done plenty of raids, dungeons etc etc. All with random people from lfg. Every single time i took a massive break myself before raiding, guess who got lucky with that new raid exo... Same happened when i was seeing the short end of the stick. If i got a penny for every time i played a raid while playing active myself and having that one guy in my raid group who said he hasn't played in a year or is completely new and got the raid exo first try, i would literally be a millionaire right now. Bungie has always stayed away from even remotely commenting on this but it's an unspoken fact that they rigged the rng system to benefit new or returning players with that loot gratification to make them addicted (again) and to punish players who play a lot with terrible rng cause Bungie knows those hardcore players will grind the stuff they desire out anyways. Both lead to free player engagement which satisfies their investors. Same strategie casinos use. Those machines are all rigged and far from true "rng". So nothing new. Just sucks that this practice is actually "allowed" by law apparently. Bungie is literally scamming their players actively and easily get away with it by removing feedback regarding this and just ignoring it.

                  • It definitely does seem to be this way. And it makes sense for Bungie to do this. Because they know the more dedicated players will grind and grind until they get the drop they want, whereas casual players are more likely to stop playing if they don’t get it on the first or second try. So Bungie gets casuals to play more because they get the feeing that they’re really lucky, and hardcore players will play non stop until they get the drop. It’s really shi*ty on Bungie’s end, but makes sense, it increases the overall playerbase

when pure poetry hc was released i was grinding strikes for it, for around 5 strikes in a row i was getting loot from chest consistently after that i got 1 engram for every 3 runs~and then i could go on 5-10 runs w,o anything to drop from the chest lost sectors farm, for the 1st 10 runs i was getting like 1 exotic every 3 runs ~ after that i could do sometimes 15~lost sectors in a row and end up with nothing nightfall farm, for several runs i was getting exotics/ascendants to drop consistently and then i could do several runs in a row and get absolutely nothing and then when i take a break for a day or 2 this seems to repeat everytime
