Lagging & Teleporting opponents (Crucible/Iron Banner)

I'm 1000% certain that my connection is stable and working just fine, I personally don't seem to be having any issues when moving my character about the maps but everywhere else I'm seeing opposing players occasionally teleporting and running headlong into walls for a solid 3-4 seconds before suddenly they're not and they're right in my face, or I'm getting shot directly from behind walls when I'm nowhere near them. I know Destiny has been having some problems as of late but it just seems to me like it's getting worse and worse every week, surely this is a server side problem and not an issue with us the players right? I'd feel a lot better if others told me they've been having the same connection issues when their network is running just fine.

  • Shooting someone with an crafted iterative loop point blank range in the chest. Only 80 % of their shield taken and no kill. Happened several times. Frustrating games this week.

  • You're not alone friend. This is what happens when skill based matchmaking supercedes connection based. The player pool pulls you into a match with people with similar skill (well, it's supposed to, not like it actually works) and has no bearing on the connection stability throughout the entire lobby. This is why you only encounter 1-2 people on average that seem to "lag switch" for those of you familiar with Halo multiplayer years ago. If the connection of the entire lobby was muffed, EVERYONE would be having the same issue constantly. Unfortunately not the case. When each player seems to have their own set of refresh rates, ping, and packet loss, this is what you get. There are delays in lobby that result in players seemingly "walking into walls" and then magically appearing somewhere else. On their screen, your player has no connection instability so they see you as you are, whereas on your screen they blink all over, immune to damage (because at that point in time they aren't sending stable signal), or teleporting. Incredibly frustrating. This also helps to hide those few that like to Net Limit in their games on purpose. Not everyone is cheating, but with this issue being prevalent in almost every match to some degree, the actual cheaters can get away with it more often. Connection>Skill and Bungie needs to work awful hard to fix this. Also, TAKE RIFT OUT OF COMP.

  • I have been looking for this. I was like "Is it just me?" I have had opponents that I swear were hacking and somehow able to use Mirage from Apex's decoy ability. it is just terrible.

    • It's horrible, and it is not normal lag. Something broke with the netcode or infrastructure in the new season that is causing certain players to just stop updating accurately for short periods and causing all kinds of crazy issues I haven't seen since D1.     • You're not alone. Everyone in my clan is seeing the same behavior, some more than others and some barely at all. But seems to have an uptick in frequency when more people are on in the afternoon/evening timeframe. You can search on Twitter for "iron banner lag" and see a lot of people complaining about the issue there as well. Seen this happen in strikes/seasonal activities a little bit here and there, but this is quite a bit worse.
