Why the long jumping puzzle to get to pet the dog?

This isn't a complaint. The area is kind of cool, but seems pointless. Traversing it is easy enough but I'm just mystified why so much effort was put into creating an immense area with some spoilery turrets just to get to the dog after the Seraph mission ends and you have already found all the drones. If the final door had opened and the dog was on the other side it would be enough hoops already jumped through to get to that point. It seems like a lot of unneeded development went into the area. Or maybe I'm just missing something else that is in the area. But now the dog is freed, could we have him along on some missions, please???

  • I agree that the whole area was way under-utilized. I keep expecting to engage with a host of Fallen the closer I got to the final location, but instead all that we did encounter were turrets that were easily defeated.. Besides - just how big is this space station to have such large area?
