I just want a cowboy hat bungie!
I've run spire countless times and I've gotten everything there is to get on my hunter but the cloak/hat. Why do you hate me!!!!!?

Took me countless runs of grinding the final boss and swapping checkpoints within my Fireteam. It will happen…one day.

1 ReplyI legit have ran through the first encounter specifically probably over a hundred times by now, and somehow the titan helm nor the machine gun have dropped at all from there. I can practically speed run the beginning and first encounter in like 15 minutes at this point. I wanted that helmet very much so figured grinding out the first encounter would be the easiest then I can proceed with the rest of the dungeon (solo player here) but the helmet will not. Drop.

1 ReplyKeep farming I got it after a couple hours. But it do feel like bungie gives players that don’t play often better rng than players who play every day. I came back after a month break and my luck has been insane with rewards lately.

Welp, two more runs in and I got the machine gun to drop but still no hat. Bungie why you hate me!?

Just keep running it . I got it both for hunter and warlock , titan is next who knows how long that will take . Just my opinion but it looks good with the hunter skull helmet .

4 RepliesSame. I've ran Akelous drfinitely more than 70 times. I stopped counting after 70. Final boss I didn't even count. No cloak. It's insane. Absolute madness.

Yet they even recently lied to our face once again that there is no individual weighing of certain stuff per activity. Who even believes anything these guys say anymore? I've had to run 75 spire checkpoints for one hat. Meanwhile i got 30 boots. The rest was mostly the auto rifle that has been reissued again. Some long arms dropped aswell. Yea guys, game is not rigged at all btw.

2 RepliesIt's working as intended. It seems that every time there's an item that players want/need, they reduce the drop rate. I'm not sure where I've seen it, but I saw a chart that basically showed its lowest drop rate from the dungeon, lol. It's funny because when I run new stuff like raids and new activities I'm always getting cloak first no matter what, that's always been my experience, now I'm just getting weapons, arms and chest lol.

I get that it's a cool item and it should be harder to get, but I think the exotic is less rare.

Loot overall is just bad in this dungeon. I ran boss cp for 4 hours this morning farming the sidearm. Guess how many sidearm drops I got…

While this doesn't make up the entire playerbase, its got a big enough pool to make it a viable sample size. Braytech shows that around 3-4% of the players have the Cowboy hats (regardless of class). Any other armor piece from the set is owned by 13-14% of the playerbase. Basically, it looks like the hat has ~1/4 - 1/5 of the drop chance that the other armor pieces have. They obviously knew what they were doing upon adding them and wanted to give players something to chase, but it definitely stings. EDIT: Wanted to give a massive shoutout to Braytech, its an awesome platform that isn't appreciated enough. Everyone talks about DIM, Light.gg, D2 Armor Picker etc. but it always seems like people forget or don't know about Braytech. Its got the best interface of any of these sites (looks just like our in game menus) and has a ton of utility. Check it out if you haven't before!

1 ReplyMy RNG for this dungeon has been surprisingly good. I’ve got roughly 11 full clears and have farmed about 15 checkpoints for cowboy hats. Received the bow 4X. Have all cowboy hats.

I just wish it would stop dropping carbines and revolvers. I’ve had nothing but those minus 2 sidearms, 2 scouts, 1 nade launcher and 1 machine gun. Just barely enough armor to scratch out three pieces each on a character. It’s made me not want to run it.

I found it difficult at first. Only started dropping this week for me and only on repeated runs rather than the first. Still need the cloak for the hunter but have the hat for warlock and titan

Edited by Klaus_Reaper (Adept): 12/26/2022 11:12:36 AMThe moment i got that Sh*** carabine and that tiny range hc we've been getting from dares & Xur...oh my god i almost throw up....that was lazy, why not put those weapons with the ikelos ones? maybe create more guns? or just leave the new ones with the armor.
