Lobby balancing becomes irrelevant when everyone in the lobby is the same skill. The only reason we need lobby balancing at all is because SBMM doesn't work perfectly Even if the teams are technically "balanced", it wouldn't be fun for a 0.5 k/d player to be playing with 2+k/d players

  • Here's the thing though, not everyone in the lobby is of the same skill which is where my hatred for "SBMM" comes from. If I look at DestinyTracker after the match and I'm the only one on my team with four-digit elo where everyone else has 1600+ elo then I'm going to bad mad at the matchmaking and furthermore the team balancing. I know Bungo doesn't officially use DT's elo system but it is the closest thing we can use.

  • SBMM and Lobby Balancing are two different things. SBMM helps keep games competitive at an individual and team level. SBMM also ensures mostly even teams regardless of how Lobby Balancing works. Lobby balancing keeps games competitive at a team level only. Players can still be matched against others who are nowhere near their skill. In your post, you lament the introduction of SBMM, but what you really want is improved Lobby Balancing. Finally, if you're constantly losing games, it's probably not your teammates' fault. Bungie didn't design their game to only screw over you
