Rumor is Bungie is going to a monthly based subscription next season. Why would I pay a monthly service to play recycled content and laggy craptastic pvp. You mean to tell me they want me to pay a monthly fee so I can play laggy -blam!- pvp matches that are piggy backed off player connections? Are you effing kidding me? Bungie you do that and this game will die. Or is that your intention?

It's not going to happen, but if it did, I think it would be hilarious to watch the community outrage. Personally, I'm going to cancel my preorder and only buy the dlcs because these last several seasons have been so bad, so a change like this wouldn't affect me. Still, it would be so much fun to watch.

We also had rumors that the next enemy type were gonna be "zorpalods". Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

If they do that, it will be great. Everyone loved it when Fallout76 did it. Right guys? Guys? Anyone? Seriously, subscription will mean I’m done. Subscription models for games or apps are terrible.
-
They’ve already sold season passes via the deluxe version of Lightfall so if they were really going to go the subscription way then I would have thought they’d already have started. But I’ve been wrong before.

Prove it. Then we'll talk. 99% of rumors in the video game spotlight are either wishful thinking or trash, usually from the same people who as a kid would claim their uncle worked at Nintendo.

13 RepliesIt's basically like fortnite crew or eso plus. You pay for exclusives and minor bonuses. Not alot of people will pay for it but its there. If you don't want it don't buy it, why do people get riled up at stuff in the shop that can be paid for or not paid for? I could see if it allowed a pay to win element or pay to play element beyond dlc but this all stems for childish jealousy and self inflicted fomo when there isn't any to begin with.

Wow that will kill it for me!! Unless they add amazing content to justify it.

3 RepliesGreedier and lazier every year

Edited by SAXplayer7: 12/25/2022 6:17:11 PMMaybe we could cancel after a month??? So we pay like 4 dollars for the first month when there’s more to do … or even at the end of the season … that may be the strat👀

I would be fine with it only if we got dedicated servers

I don’t see them doing it across the board. They’ve already been selling season passes and expansions for LF. Odds are, if true, this will be an option for players want access to all the playable content but don’t want to buy each and every expansion, dungeon, and seasons. So it will be a model similar to that of ESO. Price would be a big factor for this. I doubt they’ll make it cheaper than buying everything in a year via the Deluxe edition, so $5/month is out of the question. Not unless the season pass is not included for that price. $8-10/month is more likely. The other thing to consider is if there is a subscription based model that could mean for people that play across multiple platforms they no longer need to buy expansion content on each platform. Like the season pass, it is recognized on all platforms. So a subscription model would be good for people who can’t afford a single $50/$100 drop on a game. It would be good for people who play on multiple platforms. And it would be good for newer players that just joined and don’t want to spend $150 to have access to everything for the year. What I would worry about, because with Bungie now it’s a legitimate concern, is Bungie trying to get cute and having multiple levels of the subscription or still leaving out content that still has to be payed for separately. Like if the subscription covers expansion content, but still no season pass. Or it gets the season story and activities, but not the premium track of rewards. If they do it it should be a one-and done thing, other than maybe cosmetics in Eververse. A subscription player should never get a prompt to pay for any activity or mission.

4 RepliesI’m out of it goes that way, no question about it. I don’t subscribe to anything.
-
The only way I think it would work is if they made everything a guaranteed drop and removed all RNG.
-
Your information is wrong It was an idea that has been scrapped at least for now. Nothing has been implemented or will be implemented for the foreseeable future
-
That would probably be for new people wanting to try it out and not have to buy whole season or something. Sortof like game pass only managed by bungie.
Rumor is Bungie is going to a monthly based subscription next season.
A lot of people have already paid for next year's content so even if that were the case the subscription thing wouldn't apply to those people unless of course there's something really awesome attached to it. There just really wasn't very much info in those leaks. People made a lot of news out of what appeared to be a few lines of data mined information. If anything it looked like possible plans for how to make starting and staying with the game more enticing to new players in the future.

4 RepliesJust gonna leave this thought here: we already have a premium subscription (seasons), and then a 2nd premium subscription on top of that (Dungeon pass), and then the DLC.
-
If the content is actually worth the cost, I don’t see this as a negative. A massive issue the game has is how do I pay to get into it. New players face 4 major dlc purchases, a year worth of seasonal and a dungeon pass with the 30th pack…. How does a player whose new to the game understand this. Simplifying this makes perfect sense to me. If it’s let’s say 10$ a month, currently I’m paying as a vet player full yearly dlc price which is what? 80$ a year? Then dungeon pass is 20$, and seasonal if you bundle it what 20$ more for buying ahead? I think at 10$ a month it works out to be pretty much the same but removes all the complexity. Personally I’d rather buy what I want and always own it while the servers are live, but after trying to get some friends into the game, I got to see how wildly insurmountable buying into the game was to them. I also haven’t looked at the rumours at all

I'll happily give it a try if it means at least some of that money will go to i.proving the game. I doubt it but hey, worth a shot
-
4 RepliesI find a subscription based model far more honest than the current "freemium" model. If done correctly... With the networking being improved, and or an overhaul of the engine so that old content can be unvaulted. I'd be fine.

After all these years it’s not gonna happen unless Sony start giving out Chinese burns

4 RepliesI could see it going either way, but guarantee you this: I don't subscribe to ANYTHING except maybe a few streaming services. That would be the straw that broke the camel's back for me and lead me to walk away for sure. I know we low key already pay a subscription service anyway, but at least they trick me into believing otherwise right now. It works. Subscription based games are a giant negative for me unless I could pay like $5 a month and walk away at any time. Then you could subscribe 3 key months out of the year and be living it up and sit out the nonsense like Plunder or this season. I'm sure they realize that and would probably try to lock you in for a year. The current model is a better Jedi Mind Trick. I suggest they stick with that until a potential D3.
