Pinnacle RNG is beyond a joke
My Warlocks has had 24 pinnacle drops since my last pair of boots, and 17 pinnacle since the last chest piece.
This kind of droughting needs to stop. I really hope you have an overhaul of the system coming for Lightfall, as I am just sick and fed up of running pinnacles and getting a slap in the face instead of a reward.
As it is, I haven't bought Lightfall yet, and this is makiing me wonder if I should bother.

1 ReplyJust stop caring. There's nothing worth even being max level for. All loot that matters can be earned without any trouble and there's no point in stressing about a system Bungie intentionally designed to screw you over.

Yup, not doing that s#it again. In a game where they can automatically boost or reduce your level for some activities, keeping a light level system AT ALL is a bad joke.

I think they will just roll that across the rest of the game next year. Leveling is pointless. It's not a skill.

Remove power level. Simple enough. Make it character level only, and significantly increase the EXP required per level. That turns leveling from RNG to a time investment. You put in the time, you deserve to see the fruits of it. Some RNG is okay, with limits (like a way to directly get them after X amount of runs without it), but RNG largely should not be the focus of a game.

I know what you're talking about and it's pretty annoying. Today I finished the weekly activities, I was one point away from raising light and just in my last 3 activities, 3 helmets, all of the same power. Now I have to wait another week to raise that level. The RNG of this game is crap.

5 RepliesI'm convinced that Bungie has rigged the "RNG" to slow players down again. They were caught throttling XP in year 2, so this is nothing new. There are way too many people complaining about this very issue, and it's highly improbable that you should get 3 pinnacles in a row and all dropping boots. Another new low for Bungie.

I wish they’d just remove Power Level entirely and go based on Character level instead, but only for the purpose of equipping new gear (i.e. new season drops, level cap raised by 2-5 levels, new season armor and weapons drop at new cap so you level up to use new gear). Power or character level should only serve to lock new gear behind needing to level up, not the damage you take and deal. Just make normal and hard modes for activities for that. Idk why D2 uses both character level (currently useless) AND power level (tedious). Using just a character level means [b][u] time invested, not RNG, gets you to max level[/u][/b]. Edit: also, make it take a lot longer than current to level up. I can make a new character and get it to max lvl in a handful of hours, making it even more useless currently.

They really just need to do away with this system all together as farming light levels each season just gets to be incredibly boring and ends up being more of a chore and timegate for fun challenging content that is actually rewarding.

Have you been utilizing powerfuls to fill those gaps? If you go straight through all your pinnacles without doing so you will see minimal power gains. Use lost sectors exotics and powerful mission loot that drops at level to fill these gaps. Also let powerful rank up engrams cook at vendors. Even more advanced method: I don't take any armor, weapons or engrams from a current season pass so when a new season rolls around I can go on the companion app and pull the piece I need from the previous season. If I've already used the piece I then pull engrams. This only works well with exotics engrams if you have every weapon and it's guaranteed armor. Hope this helps for future leveling.

It’s like the more you chase pinnacles the more frustrating it gets ….I stopped a while back . I’m doing less and less wash season . I’m still enjoying D2….it’s a mess but playable 🤷🏼♂️

1 ReplyPinnacle grind just needs to be removed, or guaranteed progression. No more of the random drop with chance of no progress for weeks. Happens every season for different people where they just go nowhere despite doing all pinnacles.

Ok, I really didn't expect this post to blow up like it did. One thing I've discovered over the past 2 years is that when you're levelling, and pinnacle RNG is being an a-hole - vent. Write an angry message on Bungie.net forums - the Karen-ier the better. It looks like I've outdone myself this season, and unbelievably - it's had an immediate effect on my RNG! My next 2 Warlock drops I scored the Chest and Boots. Hopefully those of you who also responded with the "Yeah - My RNG is rubbish too" may have also scored some good loot. recently. Now.... it's been quite a while since my Hunter has seen a Class item. A Helmet would be nice too. :)

I was getting exotics for my pinnacle drops. The same three or four per character. Wears on you pretty quick knowing you have to infuse an exotic to level up your legendary gear. I forgot some pinnacle engrams in my inventory to start this season so I only get 1580 or 1581 pinnacles, I leveled the artifact up 10 pts already but still have only gotten one or two pinnacles at 1582. They need to use upgrade modules that give a plus one two or three by themselves without infusion, problem solved.

2 RepliesI finally hit last season's cap a week and a half into the subsequent season. I don't think I've ever hit the cap during a season. I complained into the ether on this one and the responses were the same as these. People don't want to understand, so they say something thoughtless like: " There are plenty of resources for pinnacles, just go do those, problem solved" except the problem is not solved. I could go do those things and still need the Titan mark to get that one level up but no, I got a pinnacle energy weapon or helmet over and over. My time investment is not being respected, that's the way I feel.

4 RepliesNo one says it can't drop duplicates. You still need extras for leveling multiple guns and armours. And if you have it drop only what you need everyone will hit max level too fast. What could happen though is badluck protection. Game should go "okay that's your 3rd chest piece, next drop will guaranteed be something else". I did King's Fall today. I wanted ANY armor, a primary or heavy. Literally would be happy with 7 out of 8 possible drop types, not being picky at all. You -blam!- right I got secondary weapons every single -blam!- drop the entire raid.

6 RepliesCool thing about destiny….. you don’t need those pinnacle drops. You can just level up by playing and get xp. So instead of complaining just play the game, and eventually you will get the drop you need. Right now the only thing in the game that pinnacle matters is trials because it does away with your xp bonus and your light is your pinnacle light only.
