Hot take: Crucible was never meant to be competitive

You wonder why crucible is trash or things are constantly getting buffed/nerfed? Well, heres your answer... Pvp in this game is never going to be a priority and you guys are try to make it priority. Heres the thing, This is and always will be a pve looter shooter. Its impossible to balance every single variable thats currently in the game. A good example is all the different rolls that a weapon can be dropped at or forged. Another example is subclass 2.0 where you can make different builds that may or may not trigger different effects. With the introduction of AE, It made things alot worse in this regard as a new variable has been added. This isnt CoD or Battlefield where there is a set number of ways to build a loadout. Each gun has set number of attachments that you can use while being locked to a certain type. The next thing is that this game has zero competitive future but yet people are trying to mold it into one. The reason being is the paragraph above. The games focus is on the pve content (and unfortunately its battle pass as well as eververse content). From day 1, crucible was meant to be a side activity when you got bored of pve. The mode is meant for you to kill time while showing off your new drop to your friends, Not a sweat infested MLG tournament. Want someone to blame for your favorite weapon getting nerfed? Blame the toxic wannabe pro player who is playing this games pvp wrong. Toxic sweats have this tendency to turn what was supposed to be fun for all into their hēllish playground where its their way or the highway. So break out that weapon you wanna try and tell Mr iMakeUTakeLs to shove it. After all, Why sweat when theres no possible future of going pro. In the end, Why is crucible bad? Its because its a matter of perspective. What you think is bad maybe someones good. Either that or your that high k/d player whose gonna post some salty comment below claiming i dont know what im talking about. This game caters to no-one, Not even you sweats.

  • I feel like they should just get rid of pvp and manly focus on pve content. No pvp player will take you seriously if you state “ I’m amazing at d2 pvp”. Congratulations you’re good at the one fps that takes less skill than CoD. You gain nothing from pvp. All the good gear is from the easy -blam!- raids and dungeons.

The game needs both PVP and PVE because it came as a package for Destiny originally. However, Bungie needs to stop trying to make this game into a competitive shooter. The game’s gameplay and movement is enough to create a natural cadence for competitiveness within players. The problem is most players need to be honest with themselves about how they play and the game needs to be balanced correctly for balance and fun versus META shifts and cheesiness. Personally, the game started dying or struggling in D1 when Trials was introduced. That was the time when PVP became extremely toxic and players would do anything to win. The second boost of toxicity was when Combined Arms was no longer an option in the game when we transferred over to D2 with static rolls, no random rolls and slower movement became a factor of play. These were the two worse moves for the franchise no matter how players think. This is coming from a player who doesn’t use the META and mostly runs double primaries as their preferred behavior of play due to it being the most competitive means. The more Bungie tries to focus on Trials and the competitive scene, the more the game continues to die internally due to changes that are unnecessary because they are trying to “even the playing field” by stripping the “power fantasy” players have mastered both in movement and gameplay.

      • No it was meant to be about cheating. Cheating with P2W exclusives, cheating with unequal starts, cheating with unequal weapons, cheating with teams Vs solos, cheating with diehard playing as a lifestyle players being pitted against beginners, cheating with grossly "imbalanced" Subclasses and Classes, cheating with exclusive builds and more. Destiny 2 is proud to be a cheaters game, made fun of or more usually straight ignored by the PvP community.

      • Sorry to break it to you but it was the casual players and bad/inexperienced players who wanted it more competitive not the "sweats". With the implementation of sbmm it was made into a competitive pvp scene. The only ones asking for sbmm was those players. Also it was these same players who complained the most about weapons been broken and busted. Not the sweats or streamers. Sure streamers (mainly yt streamers) would make a video of "this gun is busted" but that was only to promote the weapons and hype them up for the viewers to use. Not a single time did they ever say "this gun needs nerfing asap in said videos". At most they'd probably say "this gun will or might get nerfed" which is entirely different from begging for the gun to be nerfed.

      • Being that the game devs have and are continuing to make comp modes, you're just wrong from jump lol. You say "people are trying to mold it into one" which is true. Those people are the game devs lmao. It's their game and they quite clearly think comp has a place in their game. This post is massive cope lmao.

        • That's no excuse for making the movement feel as nasty as it has this season. Complete state of disbelief that anyone would think the game should feel like someone is hiding in a corner controlling your character at the same time you are. Everything else that you typed is excuses. Its one thing to see how people act when they aren't getting their way but what's really telling is how they act when they are. This season the people that have been getting their way have failed in that respect and all they have to offer is excuse after excuse for the broken.
