Why is standard light fall $50 when it should be $40. Then Light fall plus annual pass is $100, It should by $80 like witch queen.
Seems totally wrong.
What used to be 40 and included the first season for the year is now 50 plus still have to pay extra for the seasons. Yet there is now 20 more on top. So, they are charging everyone full price for 4 seasons and 2 dungeons ($60). 0 pre order savings.
Witch Queen was 40. Witch Queen plus Annual Pass + Dungeons was 80. Witch Queen + Annual Pass + Dungeons + Anniversary was 100.
So you pay way more for less and that is the 'bundled' price.
Bad choice. You lost players because of it.
Also, I thought Destiny 2 was FREE to play? Yet they gouge the die Hards and they like it. They also forget that Eververse exists that is supposed to keep costs down and pay for content.

1 ReplyAAA studios can never have enough money. But judging from a recent "very poorly worded," now deleted tweet from a certain someone.... Seems like the sentiment within Bungie is: "Who gives a -blam!- since majority of players readily buy the product anyway?"
-
7 RepliesInflation.
-
1 ReplyA lot of things are raising in prices recently. Unfortunately that's how inflation works. Something which the video game industry has managed to avoid keeping up with for decades. The bigger problem is that, despite a highly increasing rate of inflation, the average joe isn't having their wages increased enough to keep up with it.

11 RepliesNot gonna reply to anything in this thread. All I’m gonna say is that I didn’t realize how many D2 players are “economic experts”…
-
You might wanna start reading newspapers.
-
7 RepliesActually it's correct. WQ was cheaper than previous dlc Beyond Light was the original price Bungie brought it down for WQ and are bringing it back up for Lightfall.
-
Just consume product, then be excited for next product.
-
3 RepliesFunny. What used to be the price of a DLC is now the price of a single dungeon, or even an eververse armor set now that I think of it XD
-
2 RepliesAhem, 1 inflation exist
surprise!!!
Also you don't know how much content is involved. A combo of those two can easily justify 20 dollar increase
-
Inflation..? 🤷♂️

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 12/6/2022 11:44:29 AMNo one can tell me Bungie is suffering. Not with their latest deal and with what Sony paid them. This is not about recession - this is about greed. Especially with their copy and paste mindset. Now it's $100... next year it will be even more. And even if I think that one hundred are not much for a full year of entertainment, it's the lack of "entertainment" because of recycle and repeat what bothers me, which makes it practically worthless. Here's something for everyone who wants details. Are video games really more expensive? ...or is it "just" Bungie with his increase of plus 25% for Lightfall.
-
Pretty sure I paid $100-110 when Witch Queen Deluxe pre-order first dropped (live in US). There was no savings then too, but the price drops throughout the course of the next year leading up to the next DLC launch.
-
2 RepliesThe whole industry is raising prices because the billions in revenue generated each year from microtransactions is still somehow not enough for publishers and developers to pay their employees a living wage. Just wait for games to go on sale. They're usually 20-40% off or more 6 months after release.
-
Inflation? Idk price is terrible none the less.
-
We all know how this works - just wait until a month in and it will already be reduced in price… Wait until Christmas and it will be half price…I don’t honestly think there is anything that would make me pay a premium day one… The last three years we get a new world that has zero need to ever return…

For me, the issue isn't the price. Here me out, I play MMOs, and generally $100 per year of content is generally around what you can expect for MMOs to pay for subs or new content. Here is the major issue though I want to ask people. Has Bungie ever released the amount of content over a year comparable to an MMO? Answer: Once with foresaken + annual content I would argue Bungie was 'close' to releasing MMO amount of expected content. Close key word. Right now, I think the community needs to start holding Bungie accountable. You want to be an MMO and charge MMO prices for a year's worth of content? Make that much content then. Yes, I understand Game dev is hard, and making/keeping an MMO releasing content is one of the hardest in gaming, but Bungie dug their hole, they the revenue and are a major studio now. No excuses to me anymore. We should be seeing the fruits of their growth in D2 at this point. No more excuses on 'can't make X content anymore' like foresaken or TTK, you need to hire or bring in studios to help with content like other MMOs (FFXIV, Blizzard IE).

Well, still haven't pre ordered lightfall, and it looks like i won't be getting it at all then. $100 for a subclass, dungeon/raid, and mediocre seasons is not worth it. I'm tired of having to pay the price of brand new game and then some, just to play the same bug riddled game and activities I've been playing. Only for them to remove the content a year later.

Edited by Spawn Of Apathy: 12/6/2022 2:15:26 AMSupposedly the base expansion also comes with season 20. What’s happening this go round is buying the Deluxe edition does not get you any deal in the price of the individual components. No bundle price. With WQ if you got the Deluxe edition you pretty much got the Dungeon keys for free. In Lightfall that will not be the case. Expansion + season 20 = $50 other three seasons ($10 each) = $30 Both dungeon keys ($10 each) = $20 So there’s no financial advantage to buying the Deluxe edition over buying everything ala carte. I think you get some cosmetic items too, but nothing extraordinary. Even if I will surely play enough to get my money’s worth, it still kind of sucks. But it’s not like everything else isn’t getting more expensive too. Maybe they’ll lose some preorders. Time will tell on that. Will those that opt out be offset by the number of players that still buy in for $100? Who knows yet.

39 RepliesDon’t buy if broke wtf is wrong with people if bungie wants to charge 100 bucks for year then they should.Stop sounding like a entitled brat if u want to make a game then u can charge what u want.Me for one haven’t bought it yet and don’t know if I will know why because I will see if it’s worth it and make a judgement call but I not going to tell a company how to price their products. -blam!- I N G ❄️

The price of games is going up and compared to what microsoft and sony are adding to all games for next year, this is a minimal increase. Between pay and the crazy cost of electric at the moment costs have rocketed for every business and anyone who thinks they can just swallow all those rises is being ridiculous.

7 RepliesEdited by Avelithe: 12/6/2022 11:50:44 AM(Deleted) Edit: I didn’t post this to argue. I don’t mind a healthy and engaging discussion, but when people attempt to convince me that I’m wrong over an opinion is when I lose interest.

Well that is just inflation for you. Salaries also go up.
-
You do realize the usa increased the supply of dollars by more than 40% in the last two years? More dollars chasing the same amounts of goods. Inflation.
-
2 RepliesStarting in 2023, base game prices for Sony will be $70
-
3 RepliesIt’s called inflation.

37 Replies100$ for an entire year worth of gaming, is a steal.
