I really don't mind Disjunction and don't understand the hate

Right, so hear me out. Disjunction is a VERY large map. But it has a good mix of close range, long range, and verticality. It has sniper lanes, but plenty of ways to break line of sight. Players seem to laser-focus on the upper-middle lane or the swamp. Somehow, so many people don't use the lower tunnels or the cliff-side paths where the map is much less open, along B flag. There's rooms and choke points and alternate routes to snake around the long-range lanes. It's to the point that my main running path is to start at A/C cap, and then run to the lower tunnels because nobody else is at B by then since they like to hold on the upper-middle sniper lane. It's a VERY rare encounter for me to find someone else using the opposing side's tunnels which also means I could just bypass B and come up behind them. While everyone else is scoping down the swamp and middle lane, I could already be at the opposite A/C flag while skipping those open lanes entirely. My only complaint is the giant spawn box on either side making the walk of shame a pain in the tush. But then again, so does Convergence's spawn.

  • It's big, boring, and plays so slow always. People just camp in spawn, lane with scouts/snipers. Nevermind the massive peak advantage one side gets over the other. It's an objectively terrible map. Just giving us Frontier would've been better than this.

  • Its made to be a large map but the weapon types that would benefit from that large map are terrible to use. There's too much cover to use scout rifles, there is not enough range on pulses that arent messenger the only way to effectively get kills and slay out is still the basic HC shotgun or SMG shotgun.

  • I love it. Probably for all the reasons that good players hate it. It's huge, it's a maze, it has a variety of areas, and I like the esthetics of the environment. Yeah, the hike in from spawns is long, but I learned to benefit (most times) from that. My first time through it, I had no idea that map had even been added. (I took a few months off because of work responsibilities). The map loaded, and I was like "what is this........?". Then the madness ensued. New map, and I was totally lost. I was absolutely pummeled from one side of the map to the other. And I was laughing like a fool the entire time. I enjoy playing a brand new map blindly for the first time. And it started coming up in my rotation quite a bit, so I got more exposure to it. I enjoy seeing it come up when matchmaking is done and I'm flying in. Maybe I'm still in my honeymoon phase with it, but I am enjoying playing it. As I stated before, I don't know that I am really a good enough player for a lot of the complaints that other players have with it to really bother me. (But that is the allure. I love a challenge, and I'm not a stellar player, so it is a self scratching itch). The maps that I really do not like are Eternity the ones that are in Eternity's AO/locale. I don't know what it is about that realm, but I really don't like it. I've hated it since it first came out in Trials. Personal preference/quirk. I just don't like that place, and the maps are not as enjoyable for me. But I still play them, and I still have fun. They just suffer by comparison to the other offerings. Caveat: I am not by any means a top tier player. No real ambition to be either. I just enjoy playing (and improving). I used to be a primarily PvE player, especially in D1. At some point in D2, the Crucible bug took hold, and that is my favorite mode now. I mainly haunt the Freelance Survival playlist. The bulk of my playtime is spent there. If Iron Banana is in rotation, I'll play that quite a bit (and this last one that was basically Team Death Match was awesome! That was a fun change of pace for Iron Banana). I might grab a few Control matches to add some variety or if I have a bounty. I will serve as cannon fodder when Trials is active. Rumble, Mayhem, you name it. It's all pretty much fun to me. I just really enjoy PvP. But I still enjoy PvE, so long as there is matchmaking. I play solo quite a bit, so anything with matchmaking is a plus.

  • it kills chances for up close engagements, which are the most interesting. it's also literally a remake of frontier, without the charm, in a game that map wasn't designed for.

    • It's big, slow and boring. Killing opponents on this map makes them camp to play their lives. - Boring Then, if you're lucky enough to get on a team full of straight line Pitbulls, that are running around killing everything, it takes a while for opponents to show back up on the map, just to get it all over again. - Boring Running into opponents spawn to get any sort of action, just to turn around to run all the way back to potential action. - Boring Sparrows should be active for this terrible map, because pacing sucks, BIG-time.

      • It has, theoretically, everything you want in a decent symmetrical-ish map. There's a lot of paths for literally every type of player. It's even surprising vertical in some areas whereas most Destiny maps are 'two stories' in some spots but there's a few spots in this map with '3rd story' positioning. Problem is Bungie should rethink zone placement in Control. Put B smack dab in the center complex so the swamp and fields are viable flank routes. Rift works fine as well as [a CTF would].

It’s a fine map. Looks interesting, the lanes are there, multiple levels. All good. Even for long range enthusiasts, who used to poo-poo “tiny and crammed” “other maps”. Well, the usual. It’s the floating intro what bothers me! :D

I really like that map. It offers something different to the others. Like you say, people get drawn to that middle lane, but there are lots of opportunities to switch up your gameplay.

      • My only complaints are that the spawns are so far back that it takes forever to find enemies after spawning in and that it seems to be weighted a lot more than other maps. Scout rifle stuff also just isn’t fun with how fast the High Impacts can delete someone. Jade Rabbit and Polaris especially with how sticky and flinch resistant they both are.

      • I've only played a few matches on it outside of IB Rift where it was specifically design for that mode, and I thought it worked for that. I don't know about Control or Clash though. It seemed to have good loops and free space to move which is the 2 most important things in a map. Maybe it's zone placement in Control? Visibility? Too many angles to cover? Not sure. I don't see a lot of people mention specific issues with maps and such in the game. It's usually "this map sucks" and little else.

      • I think the main hate is that it is not a great map and we get so few maps. Then add on that most maps are the long range variety, not a popular map. After playing COD this month, it is really shocking how few maps we get in D2 and really how the only main game mode is control. I am a D2 main and playing another game has made me really see the sad state our PVP mode is in.

Wasn't people begging for larger maps for years "D2 Maps Are Too Small for 6v6", is all I saw everytime I looked at the forums Then they get a larger map and are like "WTF Bungo, the new map is too big", and people say Goldilocks is indecisive I want to watch Trials matches on it

It's the best designed map in the game that has 3 sides that support different kinds of playstyles. You really have to commit to the path where your loadout is favored and look for angles and engagements where your weapon will win. Rift worked really well on it too.

          • Certain maps get nick names. Like run simulator for example. Disjunction is a run simulator. If you die it’s a long run back to the fight. The map is too long and too large. You don’t want games going to time limit, they turn into a slog. Slow pacing is bad. The map is bad. PvP is bad. The majority feel that way. You guys are absolutely entitled to you’re opinions though.

            • I dig it honestly it has slot of different combat scenarios. Vertical. Snipe lanes. Long range fields. Closer range forest and tunnels. Labyrinth like spawn points. I find it to be great
