I took a break from destiny, and have been playing a bit since the recent FOTL.
I remember talk in the past about duplicate drop protection, and if I remember correctly, it was mentioned that when getting random exotic drops, or random exotic engrams from Xur, that it would be more likely to get an exotic that you don’t already have.
This isn’t a whine about “I keep getting the same thing over and over!” I’m more just curious because I have been getting a lot of the same items in a row, of exotics I already have, while there are several that I don’t have.
Obviously this only applies to random open-world drops, and random Xur engrams, I’m not talking about specific loot pools.

4 RepliesNope there isn’t, any exotic that’s part of the world drop loot pool can drop multiple times in a row. Each class has like 9 exotics locked behind lost sectors and 1 exotic locked behind shadowkeep. Based off your collections, you have every possible world drop exotic on your Hunter as well as weapon so Xur engram won’t give you anything new. The guns you are missing are quest locked or behind a raid and/or dungeon so only your Titan and warlock will benefit from Xur engram
