I know nobody cares because this is just one anecdote and I know they said it had low population but hear me out.
For about 3 years rumble is all I have played in terms of D2 pvp aside from comp and trials. I quit playing 6v6 entirely because I was tired of the lobby balancing, I was tired of super O'clock, I was tired of matching fireteams, I just didnt like how unpredictable it was. I dont think 6s are a bad mode but they were not for me and for my purposes I was happy with the alternative which was rumble. I wanted to get better without teammates, and wanted to have a degree of control over the map and the flow of the game as opposed to 6s which I saw and still see as just total chaos and a mixed bag of great and utterly unplayable experiences.
For years every time someone asked how to improve I told them to play rumble. When someone complained about stacks, about ability spam, about lobby balancing, I have always said play rumble.
The mode has its flaws and it does not appeal to everyone, I recognize this. I recognize that from a utilitarian point of view it serves no purpose and yeah sure makes sense to put it on a rotation because you would think no one cares. But myself and many friends I have made love rumble, it is all D2 PvP is for us. We find the other modes to be chaotic, unpredictable, pointless, unenjoyable. 6v6 is not an option for me, I'm just not going to play pvp casually anymore and Im okay with that because I dont play much these days anyway. But it was still nice to hop on and play a few and its pretty disappointing that I wont be able to do that anymore.
Im unsure why things continue to be taken out of the game. It started with the content vault getting rid of paid content, then the master modes for raids got put on a six week rotation because of the weekly featured raid system which is annoying for PvE players, and now a PvP mode that has existed for eight years with a small but die hard playerbase is being put on a five week rotation, I just dont know why this is necessary. I guarantee, 100%, the vast majority of the daily rumble playerbase today is not going to migrate to other game modes, they are just going to not play anymore.
Attempting to streamline players into high population activities by taking low population activities out of the game or limiting access to them has not been cool since the inception of the DCV. Please add things to the game stop taking them away. Why does this continue to happen.

Think I've played 2 games of rumble in about 2 yrs, they should just let Pvp die!

It looks as if they are straying away from Solo play and thats disheartening.

Tbh they see the future content, we don't. You gotta read bungies smoke signals man. Numbers have been declining for a solid 18 months now, n I'm not talking just game numbers. Google searches, YouTube & twitch views all on a decline, just this week I've seen 4 very prominent creators saying they're gutted they put work into vids & no one's watching anymore. Even that mini telesto event, even before people knew it was a gimmick, very little twitter talk, twitch peaked at about 9k viewers, to compare it was 300k for corridors of time. It tells you people are losing interest, they stopped caring, n that's very very bad. So if bungie know next season is the same copy & paste cookie cutter bs (it will be) numbers will continue falling. I don't even think lightfall looks that good, going off bungies pricing model, it's the same cost as shadowkeep & includes a free season like shadowkeep, n that was pretty awful. If these 2 things don't go over well, mm will really suffer & they really could need as many people in the one playlist as possible. Just today, weekend, I've had 5-6 min wait times between banner games, some games started 4v4, n this is without sbmm.

1 Reply100% with you, couldn’t agree more. They should just allow it to be a niche mode. If they really want to increase the player count, they could at least try making improvements to it first.

1 ReplyFree for all game modes should always be able to be accessible it's a staple of fps games and a good way to get better at the game if you are trying to get more skilled and it is really nice how short the matches can be if you are short on time for whatever reason

1 ReplyEdited by Ranthop_II: 11/18/2022 11:13:36 PMThe way I see it, when Rumble comes back around two of three things will happen; - People will love it and Rumble will be the best game mode in the Rotator. OR - Nothing will happen and Bungie will have effectively buried their FFA mode. - The one thing that will definitely happen is part of the community will start hosting FFA private matches, more than they did before. So in a way Bungie will be pushing people into private matches.

1 ReplyRumble should stay. It’s the only game mode that you can’t blame your team mates and they can’t blame you.

I haven't played much rumble mostly because regardless of whether I win or lose I feel like I need to check my blood pressure after every match, but its always seemed like a lot of the more "respectable" PvP players gravitated to that mode because of some of the limitations the other daily modes could have at times. Was definitely hoping it would make the cut even though I don't really play it all that often. Other than player population there doesn't really seem to be a reason for it to have been moved to the rotator and one of the things that I do like it when I play it every once in while is that the ability spam and supers and heavy seemed to be less and a lot of the people played it in a way and with a certain kind of playstyle that has sometimes seemed like its being extinguished from the game. Things might be changing as far as that but in the past it was nice knowing that I could play rumble if I really wanted to. And going forward with IB and quickplay being SBMM there could be quite a few players around my level (which is middling) that don't really want to play those modes due to the way they work with that matchmaking unless things are different than they were this season. Even a lot of streamers and famous people were in rumble this season and those are generally people with skill levels high enough to do pretty well with SBMM. Unless the matchmaking changes make up for it there will be no daily mode where you get to decide how casual or competitive you want to play for a lot of people.

I sympathize. I liked elim. And I didn’t even see it on a weekly rotator. Trials is not elim. (It doesn’t happen every day of the week) and it’s way to competitive all the time.

I'm with you man. I think your argument strays to other topics and people are trying to tear you apart for that but your points about 6v6 and rumble still stand true. The concept of lumping the one and only ffa mode in with rotating 6v6 modes is absurd to me and hopefully bungie will come to their senses about it.

2 RepliesI love rumble and they're moving it to the rotating playlist.. Also, let's not forget the rotating playlist is a joke regardless. Why can't we que for the game modes we want when we want? We gotta wait until a specific week.
