Everytime we reach the last third or so of a season the community starts to lose their -blam!- about how the game has died and bungie has turned to -blam!-. Realistically this has been the way of things since the beginning of the franchise yet everyone acts like its the end of the world.
We blame the seasonal model yet content droughts were significantly worse when we had dlcs. Warmind is a perfect example of where a story is released and gets blitzed through in the first day. Then the rest of the dlc content gets obliterated before we are stuck twiddling out thumbs until the next trailer comes out.
I think that unless you are genuinely hooked on destiny for the GAMEPLAY and not the hamster wheel of grinding new content this problem doesnt affect you as much. But when the value of the game is equated to ‘new gun, me play’, when new gun is not out yet the community loses their minds. It happened last season, it happened after witch queen despite that being an expansion (and a season!) and it happened in year 1. Yes we want bungie to improve and give us the best that they can but outside of seasonal/in game content they have delivered some good stuff in terms of QOL and balance changes, and we know theres a ton more next season.
I dont see how we will ever be satisfied, this is just the issue that comes with the community of a live service game. We can get a ‘season of core activities’ but if the content inside is equal to that of seasons then it will be played through just the same and we will be back to square one. I dont want to be cliche but if you feel as though theres nothing to do and you arent playing for fun then don’t.
**Taking a break is one of the healthiest things you can do if you dont feel healthy playing this game.**
When I look at other games such as god of war, we say how great they are, but once the story is complete its generally over and you stop playing. If destiny as a live service model can keep us going for as long as it does after the main story is complete then it must be doing something well to be a consistently popular game regardless of dropping numbers and the end of a middling season.
Ill be waiting for the un-cancelling of those preorders when s19 gets a creamy trailer with black armory weapons or some -blam!-.

Some are posing as consumer champions. Others seem unable to stop playing a game they have an unhealthy relationship with.
