It represents the spaghetti code of the game 2. It’s constantly breaking The weapon represented these things in a natural manner because of A) how frequent bugs were and B) how the COMMUNITY equated it to a running gag. Players, wether they want to accept this really, play in a sandbox that has never achieved balance in and out of PvE. This resulted in Telesto being the embodiment of the sandbox to a certain degree and a target to the phrase “Does Bungo test their own game?!?!” When I saw that Bungo had Telesto themed cosmetics, my initial thoughts were “Oh, they made cosmetics for the memed gun.” and “Haha cash grab haha.” Pricy af, but then again it’s the eververse so it’s not surprising. I dunno if it’s me, but I can’t help but feel that Bungo accidentally dampened the Telesto meme. Part of the reason why might be because Telesto has not had a major spree of breaking the game/causing bugs. This “simmer” period has resulted in a lighthearted legacy to players, blueberry or not. Telesto being the source of an ARG would’ve been an AMAZING way to do a secret mission or secret event. It would’ve been a much better publicity stunt as opposed to “Telesto has gone and taken over our Twitter account.” Bungo having to specify that there is no secret data really put salt in the wound for players -blam!- missions like Zero Hour and The Whisper. Speaking of Twitter, the Telesto Twitter takeover feels out of place. Sure, the Twitter account has had character takeovers in the past and jokes have been made about Telesto being sentient and the “Final Shape,” but it feels… forced. I’d rather see Paul Tasso get roasted or Caitil poke fun of RE: Village fans than a see meme gun try to spit bars. Maybe I’m acting disillusioned and making a mountain out of a molehill, but man Bungo really missed an opportunity for a a great ARG. Now if you excuse me I must get my Telesto emblem.
