I use the below examples as two classes who are able to embrace their void 3.0 identities well and live out that power fantasy. I think it's great that they can do this and its how it should be. That being said, I believe a couple of things need to change so that void warlock can do the same.
Void hunter. Stealth assassin. Activates invis multiple ways at will. Dodge or throw smoke and go invis.
Void Titan. Reinforced tank. Activates powerful over shields at will. Place shield or hit with melee and they get over shields
Void Warlock. Life stealing vampire. Can not activate devour at will like the other two classes can with over shields or invis. (Not without wearing the secant filaments exotic and placing a rift) I propose two things that would allow void walkers to be able to have the same level of power fantasy and identity.
1. Return grenade absorb to activate devour. (This was a core part of the vampire power fantasy and without it we have no way of activating devour on command like other classes can with over shields or invis. (Yes I know there are ways to do it but none on command)
2. Add the life steal melee option from D1. (This wouldn't activate devour anymore than is already possible but would be a nice addition as an alternate melee option that is in keeping with the vampire identity of void walker)

5 RepliesEdited by Hawk_Man!: 11/4/2022 3:43:46 AMThe question is, how would we charge grenades? They can't be the same key binding on a controller. I think this is the big reason the consume nade functionality went away. I think is should be added as a chaos accelerant functionality for the suppressor nade or something similar.

3 RepliesEdited by CORPERATE COMMANDER: 11/5/2022 11:59:47 AMYou know you can set it so abilities kills start devour with warlock every other class has to pick an orb of light up . But i do understand it was pretty cool before just absorbing grenade to activate devour and never understood why it was removed only prob is we'd need a new fragment to do it since charging grenades would be out the option unless you were really good at timing it right

I don’t identify as a single class so I downvoted without reading first. Sometimes I’m a Titan and I be walking around and BAM suddenly I’m a hunter. Kind of like real life…. I’m walking down the street and BAM all of a sudden, I’m a girl! You don’t know how hard it is to deal with.

1 ReplyDude, as a titan main, warlocks devour is 5x easier to activate. Titans requires you to pick up an orb of light. So you need void gauntlets, an orb mod, a weapon for that mod, then you have to still go and pick up the stupid orb in the middle of combat and then we get it. Warlocks simply gotta chuck a single grenade that with a proper build they can get back in a couple seconds. Calm down.
nibbles crayon
1 ReplyI'm a titan main and I endorse this proposal

1 ReplyDownvoted.... no need.to read lol 😆 😂

2 RepliesEdited by Verke0: 11/4/2022 8:19:05 AMVoid warlocks are the only subclass that need to charge their grenades to get the enhanced version. They should just delete that (even though it looks cool) Eating your grenade should be tied to the devour aspect.

6 RepliesI won’t say no but they plan on needing invis again, how many times is that.
-
2 RepliesImo, devour should apply overshield not heal. Let solar be good at healing.

Definitely a great idea

3 RepliesI like your ideas. What if it was either a melee option or replaced rift, like PD is for solar? You could pick devour over a rift, just like picking PD or a rift. Otherwise maybe add it as a second melee option. You would have to pick between a devour melee or the current one.

If consuming grenade was back, you couldn’t use it with chaos accelerant. They did it that way on purpose so you can use both aspects.

1 ReplyHey Guardian. I can't deny your point is pretty valid. I don't play Warlock much so I'm not really familiar with their own nature/game fantasy but reading your thread it seems reasonable what you're asking for. Now, I don't remember exactly how Devour works, if it grants health immediately on kills or just Recovery, but maybe for balance reasons it would be fine to have instant health in PvE and maybe just recovery in PvP in order to avoid almost unkillable Warlocks around? Of course this means that also Overshields and Invisibility should be correctly nerfed/balance to follow the same direction.

I do lile those ideas, and I think no. 1 is the way to go

These changes sound good to me
