I read the twab and was disappointed in the buff. The super isn’t being used cause it is terrible in pve.
The super can’t even kill a champ and sometimes not even a yellow bar in end game pve.
I didn’t want a faster trash super, I just wanted chaos reach to be fun again… feels like I’m tickling bosses/champs now. Maybe add jolt…
This post is strictly talking about pve btw.

I wish there was an exotic that allowed you to insta dump the super because you lose out on a ton of overall DPS due to how long the animation lasts

4 RepliesDuring an interview they were asked if they would ever buff Tcrash or Chaos and they (I don't remember who was being interviewed) answered by stating that's what Cuirass and Geo are for. Ain't that funny. This wasn't even long ago either I think it was a week before Plunder launched so it's clear they have their mind set on the current power of the two supers.

Damage would be fine over duration.
-
1 ReplyPlease for the love of God don't increase the duration. Duration is the issue. The longer the super, the less dps you have overall because you aren't using your weapons. That's what makes Gathering Storm and Thundercrash so good. Sure Thundercrash has its own risks depending on the encounter but so does Chaos Reach, and it's not like anyone is asking for a nerf to Thundercrash, we just want Chaos Reach to be closer to on par with these other dps supers, because that's what it is. "Use it for ad clear", NO. That's what stormtrance is for. Chaos Reach was designed to destroy bosses and once upon a time it did, but everything else got buffs and updates, Chaos Reach was left alone or nerfed. It needs to catch up.

2 RepliesGive it a Divinity debuff on enemies, shoot wherever the Chaos Reach is connecting to the enemy for a DMG buff/Crit point?

4 RepliesEdited by Gibbon, the Ape Defector: 11/5/2022 2:41:20 AMChaos Reach feels weak but the numbers suggest that it has some strengths, notably in total damage. (CR has as much damage as Thundercrash, and Geomag has as much damage as Falling Star.) So this presents a problem in buffing it in either its range or duration. It probably wouldn't take that much of a buff for the total damage to go through the roof, which would obviously put the ammo/energy efficiency meta under threat. But if you don't touch the damage and you just increase the DPS by shortening the time window, that presents a different problem where chaos reach starts to meld with the Thundercrash identity. And not just that; it wouldn't take much buffing in this way for it to overtake Thundercrash because it's damage from a distance, whereas Thundercrash is technically a melee super, which is how it is justified in such large burst damage. TLDR: Buffs in either direction, toward duration or damage, cause issues very quickly. So cooldown was the perfect solution.

I always thought Chaos Reach was meant to be an add clear super, not a DPS boss super. But what do I know, I'm a Hunter.
-
It's fine as is. Geomags (pre nerf) were not oppressive or OP - should have been a PVP only nerf. Otherwise, it's a duke nukem build ability wise. Chill - read other's input - locks kinda in a sweet spot now
-
2 RepliesThey should just make it so you can hold fire button to overcharge it. (This would reduce the duration but increase the damage.)
-
1 ReplyNeither needs to happen, just change geomag perk to make it instant cast like celestial changes GG. The actual damage is comparable to falling star so if all of you whinelocks say how impressive and strong thunder crash is you should be saying the exact same thing about chaos.

Edited by mja calg: 11/4/2022 4:17:16 PMI too was disappointed. Having a super ~ 20% faster that sucks damage wise doesn't improve it , except in certain fuzzy headed minds (i.e. someone whose gamer tag rhymes with WellyBreen). Extending the duration simply makes you a Stationary Skeet that much longer, so that shouldn't be a consideration. They need to make GeoMags do more damage, because other Arc Exotic pieces simply are better than it is. But Hunters get another tool in the Super ranged Arsenal, where as they Nerf Warlocks (both Arc 3.0 and Solar 3.0 underwhelm).

I would appreciate a little more damage again.
-
I don't think they're ever gonna buff it. The best way to use it is as Super energy for Ager's Scepter. As a Super, it's just not worth using for anything except as last ditch add clear, unless you equip Geomags, which is just a waste of an Exotic slot that's better reserved for more useful Exotics, like Crown of Tempest or Getaway Artist.
-
Edited by Meatbaag: 11/3/2022 8:56:14 PMOr a new exotic that works similar to Celestial Nighthawk. Unload chaos reach in a single burst for 1.5x damage increase for example. Won't affect PvP, make it worth using in PvE.

I’m pretty sad that tickle fingers barely got changed. Especially since they removed its feature to have a longer duration if you casted it with a fully charged melee and grenade since the introduction of 3.0 arc
-
Edited by Art0rias26: 11/4/2022 8:02:11 AMDont do duration, you need burst high dps over a shorter period so you can continue dps with weapons to bring it in line with other class supers and dps
-
4 RepliesAre there any supers in the game that can kill a champ outright? 🤔
-
1 ReplyDuration buff is more of a net downside. Pure damage buff would be the way to go.
-
4 RepliesAgreed, I'm thankful for the duration reduction but the only way this thing is viable right now without a damage buff is with geo mags. We want it to be good so geo mags make it great, not average with geo mags making it good.
-
118 RepliesPut. On. GeoMags. It extends the duration of the super, and therefore it’s damage output.
-
7 RepliesThey are reducing its regen time by two minutes effectively, congrats were going back to pre nerf chaos in crucible.
-
1 ReplyI would love for the addition of jolt.
