How do people have a shard problem? I've been sitting at 30,000+ and growing. What do people spend them on at the moment? (Not including upcoming changes)

They are easy to farm, anything that gives legendaries and engrams so most content. Europa Brigs are a fast easy source imo, Another is opulent key chests on the leviathan (I find royal pools are a great source of keys to drop) You can easily get over 30 shards an hour from my experiences by dismantling legendaries and thats playing casually.

There is a way to farm legendary shards, it's called play the game. And no, this isn't meant to be some smart as answer, it's meant to let you know that the best way to get legendary shards is from dismantling legendary gear, which you get from playing the game. On top of that, just looking at the amount of time you play the game, you've played Destiny 2 for about 5700 hours across all platforms (I'm at about 6400 hours played for reference). I'm sitting at about 125k legendary shards from simply playing the game over that period of time, it's baffling to me that you are having an issue. I suspect you are wasting your shards on one or more of the following: 1. Ascendant Alloy from Rahool: This is a flat out waste of 400 shards when they can be obtained from other sources, especially if you are running low or your shards are draining quickly. 2. Buying "god roll" weapons from Banshee or Xur: Don't listen to every Youtuber that says "you MUST buy this weapon now, it is a GOD ROLL", the vast majority of the time it is mediocre at best or at the very most hardly better than what you already have. This can easily be a drain of hundreds of shards per week. 3. RNG slot machine from Saint-14 or other vendors: Do Not waste shards on these vendors, it is a complete waste, especially trying to spend 250 shards on an Adept Trials weapon that is barely better than the normal version you probably have. 4. Infusing EVERYTHING: Don't bother infusing every item in your vault, it's not worth it. Each Upgrade Module is the equivalent of 10 Legendary Shards, this can easily be a Legendary Shard drain. Again, not really sure why you are low on Legendary Shards to begin with, but don't waste them on pointless things if you are really having an issue. Edit: Updated 9500 to 5700, accidentally doublecounted deleted character hours. My point still stands.

Play?

There need to be more ways to earn ascendant alloy too. They should be added to GMs/master NFs and Trials.
