Let me start this off by saying that sbmm is good for the players below top 20% of players.
I am myself somewhere around the top 4-2% of players, have been using non meta weapons ever since season 12, last word, dmt, glacioclasm, adored, these are my most used weapons. Sure dmt and last word have been meta at one point but ive used them before and after the nerfs so do what you want with that information. I have about 8k with last word and 7,5 k with glacioclasm, about 2k with adored and 3,5 k with dmt. And i have used solar 3 shot gg forever since d2 came out.
What im trying to say is that ive gotten this good with skill and weapons i like to use, and are not meta weapons, but good overall. Now my point is that im sure there are other players like me who have played without the top 10 weapons every season and would like to try new weapons all the time. This causes an issue, i am only facing pulse and shotguns in pvp, a.k.a, meta weapons, i have no chance against tryhards who use nothing else but op weapons, when i try to use something different than my usual loadout.
Now im not asking for noobs in pvp but we who actually want to play pvp but literally cant due to tryhards them using op weapons. All im asking is for a second look at cbmm, the servers been laggy, shots sometimes register late, tryhards only, i would just like to play pvp without having the need to use my best.
"But you should always try your best, just git gud and stop crying (edit: funny how this predicted this posts comments and only seeing negative stuff, classic forums), these comments i have gotten before in forums, and i made me realise, i was looking at their stats in pvp and their latest pvp matches to see what they used/played, and i ran into a problem. A lot, and i mean a LOT, of these tryhards switched over to rift/mayhem/clash in order to keep their kd, so i tested this for myself, and lone and behold, new lights, people using really bad weapons, no map awereness, the tryhards are exploiting this and are making more new lights quit destiny, now bungies answer to this would be to add sbmm to everything making things even worse for top players. So you really have to question, was sbmm better, or worse?
I think its good in general, but the neglect bungie gives to us who are naturally good and like to use all kinds of weapons, is making me slowly and slowly turn away from pvp. I love pvp and season 15 was amazing in terms of pvp, but this is just really bad, like really bad.
My fix for things would be to revert sbmm and actually take time to look at the core problems in pvp, the loot, inbalanced lobbies, no new maps, no new gamemodes, weapon balancing, maybe by doing this yall could look at why pvp is actually dying, and why i matched the same players for 7 matches in a row.
Bungie, from a player with 5k hours put into destiny, i really want yall to reconsider this, i have tried to be respectful and show yall facts as to why sbmm is bad to us so called "top players".

19 RepliesI'm top 10% and don't feel neglected. I like sbmm :)

28 RepliesITs bad because it forces you to play against other top tier players? That's not bad, that's what you have EARNED. Don't take it out on lower skilled players. As those so called tryhards do. SBMM is needed. AS well as ladders. And an ACTUAL RANKING SYSTEM.
-
I feel like the top players have gotten what they wanted for a long time. And now bungie is switching focus to other players.
-
So when your kd drops far enough you enter the lower skilled bracket and can test all the guns you like....since you know it's not about kd right?

Edited by SolarCerberuS: 10/16/2022 5:36:19 AMProblem is the 'top players' are only so due to them being matched against those with lower skill most of the time. Lower skilled players are not going to want to be stomped continually hence why sbmm is needed. Im slightly above average often run non meta build and can still enjoy the game you just need to alter your expectations and not expect to be able to roll everyone and anyone. Some builds are viable others are not thats the fun of trying them out. Stop caring whether or not you are a 'top player' as if you cant handle your own skill level you either stat padded your way there, or just expect an easy game. Run what ever build you want when your stats start to fall you will be paired against players at that level and you might fair better at that lower skill level as its likely your true skill level anyway, same goes for many that claim to be better than they actually are.

Edited by RabbitTears: 10/16/2022 12:31:37 PM“I’m in the top 10% and don’t want to try hard all the time” What the -blam!- you think was going to happen when you sweat against people not your skill level? Now, you’re vsing the other sweats that actually care about this games pvp and crying about it? Dude, doesn’t know how competitive pvp works 😂 if you just want to chill stop trying start losing and get in a chill skill set. Not that hard.

Mad skillz 🥴

You are in the minority, therefore irrelevant.....
-
Keep in mind that the PVP population in this game is the minority in terms or the overall player base. PVP is an afterthought now and given the obvious neglect all the game modes have endured I’m sure you see it also. Accept SBMM it’s here to stay.
