Press L3/shift to sprint
is there a real reason for us to press the L3/shift to sprint? this game in one way or another has RPG elements (not really a mmo) so I understand you want to keep "walking" in the game but it's definitely not a 30 minutes quick game and it's action-packed so you're running all the time.
D2, by far, wears out analog sticks which causes stick drift, especially since there's no auto sprint by default and most melee abilities require you to slide to activate them. it's a pain when it comes to expensive controllers.
I don't know if these "feedback" forums are looked at by the people who matter but here goes nothing.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk!

You can literally change this in customiznable controls. What is the issue?? I’ve mapped sprinting to just moving LS before...?

I find sports games wear out joysticks the fastest, but yeah, my controllers rarely last more than a few months.

Edited by Scratch: 10/10/2022 6:43:45 PMGood Idea, Personally, I'd be happy with the reduction of redundant input. If you're sprinting and slide you go into crouch/walk and have to hit sprint again. Why? This just leads to extra/unnecessary wear and tear on the controller. If I want to sprint then slide into a crouched/walk, I can accomplish that by sliding then stop pressing forward on the stick. If I'm sprinting and want to slide then continue sprinting this could be accomplished by simply holding the stick in the forward position. There really is no need to hit sprint again and again and again. Same with dodge If I want to sprint/dodge/continue sprinting we could just hold forward on the stick and dodge If I want to sprint/dodge/walk we could just stop pressing forward during the dodge. Simple, intuitive, extends controller life. Great QoL option. Besides all the chea... er *ahem* all the✌️performance enhancement device✌️ users can turn on auto sprint so it's only hurting hones....er*ahem* it's only hurting the decen..er*ahem* it's only hurting those who don't use✌️performance enhancing devices✌️ to not have this as an option. Peace

1 ReplyDamn you controllah playah actually posting good information ugh man this just makes me angry

8 RepliesMost games have an option to auto sprint which you can toggle on off. Bungie rather makes an emblem to virtue signal accessability

2 RepliesThe mechanical dynamic between normal movement with guns ready or sprinting with guns lowered is way too cemented at this point. Auto sprint would be fine tho.

It kind of reminds me how when Xbox one first released how cheaply the controllers were made to make a profit. It would be nice to be able to assign it to LT, as Halo Reach was set up for sprint. Even the Halo"s from 343 are assigned to the analog stick.

1 ReplySounds like you're too heavy handed.

Edited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 10/11/2022 12:37:39 AMYeah I've broken the L3 button on a lot of controllers by playing destiny 🤣 auto sprint would be an amazing feature and would definitely save me a ton of money on controllers ❤️

I bought a scuff controller and mapped the sprint and finisher to the extra buttons on the bottom. The price is high for one but we’ll worth it. I’m also pretty sure there is a controller that just came out that has easy replaceable joysticks.

On Xbox, a lot of fps games have: > Left Stick Click = run > Right Stick Click = melee attack I honestly got sick and tired of activating these so I purchased a Series 2 Elite Controller. I only ever have the 2 smaller paddles permanently fitted. The larger paddles are never fitted. > Left paddle = run > Right paddle = melee attack. The controller is not cheap but it’s soooo much more pleasant using those paddles instead of having to constantly click. It’s the small things in life.

Strangely enough, my right analog stick wears down faster than the left. Maybe I use finishers too much lol

5 RepliesYeah I killed 5 controllers in 6 years... so I just gave up on console and moved to pc this year. (Not the only reason, but one of em.
-
3 RepliesWhat game are you playing were you need to slide to melee?
-
Get an elite controller a bind the thumbstick press to one of the paddles.
-
Can't you change the controls though?
-
I asked for an "auto sprint" feature a few years ago. Some commenters said that from their perspective it could harm other skill from working and such (for example, melee abilities).

It's not just d2 which wears out analog sticks, this is a problem with shooter games in general. Most of the ones which have sprint stick to l3 being the sprint input on consoles. It's an industry wide issue which has been a problem for years now. No widespread solution has been implemented yet, but plenty of games will let you change the binding. I know you can change bindings on pc, but I'm not sure if they've added that to destiny on console yet. If they have, you could probably bind sprint to a different button and select a less used option for the analog stick.

Autosprint scripts to slide backwords are one of the tell tail signs of a XiM or Cronos Zen user.
-
Then you would have to be able to shoot while running which would make strafing to fast for most players in the crucible.
-
My left analog stick tends to wears out faster though.. And I busted my previous controller's left analog stick. Really need an autosprint.
-
Have you never played FPSes? You constantly sprint in almost all of them
-
Having to press a button to sprint isn't a problem, nor does it need to be a focus for accessibility anytime soon imo.

2 RepliesI have a macro for my computer that auto-holds shift anytime I W key, but yeah would be nice to not need a macro/also have a fix for controller.

I messed up one controller like that (I don't play a lot) so on the next one I put r3 to be sprint. You just press once and it works. You press it straight, so it doesn't get messed up over time either. Auto sprint would be the best option, however.

Just give me auto sprint, please.
