Just curious.
Tried using Google and couldnt find any other shooter that uses CBMM.
I feel Destiny is the only one due to “DEDICATED SERVERS” being absent.
How many shooters use SBMM or MMR??
Seems to be a lot.

1 ReplyYou asked the wrong question, what you should of asked is how many other games have dedicated servers

1 ReplyEdited by Dante: 9/26/2022 8:19:35 AMi dont think many games use SBMM for QUICKPLAY matches where you dont even have DEDICATED SERVERS or any sort of REWARD leaver penalty is just cherry on top i think when they said they want to focus on pvp they mean focus on killing pvp

9 RepliesSbmm on a casual mode? Thats not a thing in other games. Its extremely light if anything, strict sbmm is usually for competitive modes. Destiny is currently the only game that treats the most casual mode as the competitive mode. Not to mention dedicated servers are a thing in 99% of multiplayer games now a days. Destiny is behind its time, sbmm doesn’t work in peer to peer servers but hey at least the low skill players are enjoying themselves

6 RepliesAll casual game modes are cbmm except for cod and maybe one or two other ones and sbmm is one of cods biggest complaints and why its done so poorly
-
1 ReplySBMM is fine if higher skill players get rewarded for ppl suing harder games. Tiers, cosmetics, weapons, armour. If the high skilled guys are going to be separated to protect the lesser players then just reward them for their skill. At the moment it just feels like a punishment for taking the time to improve.

3 RepliesThe question should first be how many games use p2p connection for their servers. This game has to factor connection because of how bad the servers are. Also alot of these games claiming they have had sbmm have been outright lying
-
10 RepliesBungie really had the balls and brains to put sbmm in a casual playlist but not in the actual competitive playlist (trials)
-
9 RepliesEvery successful game uses sbmm, that’s all I know

5 RepliesNo shooter uses cbmm except destiny. Sbmm is in every shooter and the ones that hate and call it out are often high elo/mmr players. Destiny seems to be all over the place, destinytracker show we have mmr and that what team balance uses but it also has sbmm which is vague. What is Bungie using to gauge skill and what is skill in destiny terms? That need to be defined and clearly spelled out regardless of who it may offend and those who know they are skilled but want cbmm to circumvent sbmm are dangerous if left unchecked.

5 RepliesShh you will upset them and then they will start talking connection like they had better connections under the other system. And if that goes away they will come up with some other reason other than they don't want to play others like themselves.

12 RepliesThere is a TON of posts dunking on new CoD having a sbmm in. Who is doing the dunking? Streamers and sweats! These people have literally become the plague for pvp games. They will use their popularity to ruin games for the majority of playerbase.
-
3 RepliesNon, but in fairness, shooters like cod and halo are losing a lot of popularity with each release
-
5 Repliesto anyone saying CoD has CBMM in casual modes: I found this in the first article i came across...
Update: And here’s Treyarch confirming that all past CODs have SBMM in casual playlists, reinforcing that a lot of this is also kind of just a perception issue:
5 RepliesDoesn’t matter if it’s sbmm or cbmm ….it’s destiny , it’s complete sh%t fest ! It’ looks great but plays so badly ….ghost bullets constantly yesterday. Control is now back how it was last season ….mercy after mercy ….predictable and boring . Destiny is a game for everyone which is a impossible task . But people taking destiny pvp seriously and bragging about their kd or kill count is hilarious and a bit sad .

1 ReplyI don’t know the answer to this, but I also wonder how many have attempted to introduce competitive elements without providing even a simple cosmetic reward to chase for “ranking up” through the skill tiers. I think SBMM is required, at least in some form, but I also wish they overhauled the whole reward structure to compliment it. 🤷♂️

2 RepliesThe proper question is "How many Shooters have 2008ish Halo Era Peer to Peer Networking"? For AAA titles, I'd bet 0. Everyone went to Regional Dedicated Host Servers a long time ago, except Bungle. This CBMM / SBMM joke really isn't a factor because Bungle will put anyone in the world into your game. All they need to do is buy some DLC and they are in. So connection simply doesn't matter when I'm in Western Canada playing against people from all over the world - except USA.

8 RepliesEdited by AendettV: 9/26/2022 7:49:22 PMThe MW2 beta uses CBMM. I expect this to be the case for the full release as well. Edit: Chill out people, I was wrong. Muting the toxic ones and moving on now.

2 RepliesFor casual game modes nearly all, SBMM is usually only for ranked/competitive modes, I think destiny stands alone for having a quit penalty for leaving casual PvP game modes as well.

17 RepliesEdited by High Charity: 9/26/2022 2:49:32 AMMost of them have CBMM and you pretending otherwise makes you look absolutely idiotic you trumpian -blam!-.

Edited by Lemon: 9/26/2022 4:12:15 PMnearly all games use cbmm but the player vs player games use sbmm only on the competitive playlists if they have one. If they don’t have it’s usually cbmm. (Only pvp game that uses sbmm all through out is cod from what I can think of, and the game is in big probs because of it. It’s extremely tough there.)

4 RepliesMost games dont use sbmm for their quickplay matches. Or at least its a very very soft sbmm (like overwatch) Sbmm is strong in competitive game modes tough, since there is a need of balancing to truly be competitive. But d2 players tends to think QP should be played like comp x) Soo...eh.

2 RepliesThe modes in Destiny that use CBMM are a Iron Banner, Rumble, the rotating 6v6 playlist (Clash, Mayhem, etc.), and Trials. The modes that use SBMM are Survival, Elimination, and Control. Destiny has a "hybrid" of dedicated servers and P2P servers. I'm not sure what the type of server has to do with modes being SBMM or CBMM.

3 RepliesI quit many sbmm games and only played short term on others. If the new fortnite anticheat gets adopted by every dev then I will probably return to some games I quit.
