After light 3.0 classes have all been said and done, I looked over all the warlock subclasses to see how each feels. I was here to see void to arc be released in light and I can say this is a severe downgrade for arc and solar. Arc and solar have now been left to rot besides ionic trace spam, which does not work at all in endgame content where nothing dies from one ability and the new melee is suislide but an ability, and well, well being the only good thing as benevolent dawn is beaten and dying, bottom tree is six feet under, pheonix dive and daybreak are on life support, and half of our aspects are boring and stalee in pve as they are pvp aspects.
Void was fantastic and lives up to a subclass besides the fact the nova bombs and nova warp need a little love. Solar... is just, depressing in all sense of the word, the best super in the game was buffed, one of the worst supers in the game that wasn't on its bottom tree was body slammed, pheonix dive was just twisted like a pretzel into trash, healing support lock has been gutted and left to die. Solar besides starfire/pheonix protocol, snap build, and dawn chorus (which is now wiped) is incredibly disappointing, the only "justification" being well. I would rather have well nerfed so the other parts of the class can be buffed along with arc
Due to wells overarching power, all other subclasses have suffered as everything is balanced around it. Arc which had a lack of viability in endgame content before and has it even worse now, is trash without the new sunstar helmet and crown. Chaos reach, the only thing back way when keeping arc warlock relevant, is now dead and frothing on the ground. Stormtrance, a super designed for destiny 1, where ad clear was harder, is still horrible even with crown in pve, the loss of transcendence killed the little live it had left. The new slide melee is just a suicide button in pve and arc souls do little to nothing in dmg and utility in difficult content. Jolt is walmart arc web for a role that something like sunshot and trinity ghoul can easily fill. (See edit 3)
Warlock on solar has nothing but well (and healing grenade immortal build which everybody else can do in a way too with some type of healing nades), and arc warlock has nothing at all, its time to stop nerfing warlock stuff into the ground bungie. You did this with chaos reach, nova warp, removed an entire subclass like sunsinger instead of reworking it, you nerfed shadebinder 9 days after unlike behemoth and revenant which wandered for months. You have nerfed daybreak now to irrelevance, stormtrance without transcendence is garbage, you completely nerfed healing warlock out of the water, and some more. You guys need to learn balancing, not shortcut fixes to satisfy the time limits of balancing other classes, balance don't just break something and leave it in unusable pieces. Stop quick "fixing" warlock stuff and balance it like your supposed too.
Edit ✏️: you guys down in the comments are saying well and pheonix protocol, guess what 1-2 or builds does not justify the whole class, all solar has is well and we'll only, the only reason for warlock in endgame content most of the time and I mean most not all is WELL. Saying solar is okay because of that is like saying again arc titan was good because of t crash only and that was lla it had. That's just stupid. Dawn chorus works, but the super it works with is now the worst super in the game.
Edit 2✏️: a subclass is only as fun as it is viable and good. As soon as it reaches its breaking point in harder content it stops being fun and becomes a chore. This is the problem. With pheonix dive and daybreak, they have so incredibly limited potential that's prohibits them, a build can only go so far to improve something's viability, and often more then not if it's trash before even after a build it won't be better, exceptions being t crash and pre light 3.0 arc staff with raijus harness. The struggle will inevitably make people play the better more after a time boring builds. Arc has this problem in the whole subclass.
Edit 3 ✏️: found more builds with solar and it is not as bad as I originally thought, it does have decent builds, but it's trade off balancing is a bit off. While it does have good builds like the immortal build, why would you run that over void except for the super well? Void has devour, which is much more easily kept up then restoration and gives grenade energy. With it's fragment compared to restoration it still outlasts it. To top void doesn't have to have a the same element exotic for it to work, anything can work unlike solar, which needs solar weapons to extend the duration. Not to mention the other classes can do this to an extent but just one less stack of restoration. I get that restoration is good, but sacrificing a valuable dmg grenade is awful, and the snap last I checked is only good at point blank ranges where you are 100% likely to die, just to trigger an ignition by hitting all the projectiles. What more it sounds like now is it was just tuned improperly in its strengths and totally forgot void exists when making it. The winters guilde build doesn't seem bad by a long shot and seems a good contender for solar.
Sunbracers aren't the greatest in endgame content, winters guile seems ok, dawn chorus builds are ok but it's been wiped from the game for some reason :/, pheonix protocol is the go too still, and that's it from what I know for pve. The only reason the infnite snap build uses pheonix dive is because it has a very small niche where your snap gives you class ability energy. But again, besides this build it never gets used plainly due to the fact it's just bad. It either needs its cooldown reduced and the amount of class ability energy it receives from things, or it needs to become an aspect that has a 15-30 second cooldown that scales with recovery, since it's not a class ability anymore in that scenario it loses it's ignition property and keeps it's healing property for allies only when heat rises is active, without heat rises it only heals you.
