The drop rates for red border weapons needs to get looked at man.
For one its hard enough to get one to drop.
2. When it does drop, it may not even be a craftable weapon.
3. It is a craftable weapon but you already have the pattern for it.
This makes grinding for the pattern you do not have ridiculously hard. I have gotten repeated weapon patterns (red borders) of those I have already unlocked. How is it that the RNG is so bad that I cannot get the other 3 out of 6 weapons from DOE?

Pattern weapons .00001% Non pattern weapons 99.999999%

1 ReplyFor me, all the crap weapons are craftable, the good ones are not. I find it rather tedious having to do this calibration thing 5 times, when 1 should be enough to craft it and then using it, improves it....but nope, they lacked the common sense. I guess its either lack of common sense or it was by design.....grind, grind, grind, grind.....the only thing Bungie knows.

I have not found a red-border Throne World SMG since Witch Queen launched.
-
I've finally crafted one of the seasonal weapons which unfortunately was the sub since the last 6 deepsights were the sub. I'm one away on the linear and the machine gun but have not yet had a side arm or shotgun to fall...some kind of rng.

7 RepliesWhat's up with the pattern for Taipan-4fr? I have had several of these weapons drop, and the pattern progress still shows 1/2. I have also had 2 of the Ammit AR2 weapons drop, but the pattern progress is also at 1/2. Are these patterns bugged or what?
-
1 ReplyMaybe it is just my rng, but, I seem to get one red border every expedition run, if I have the weapon treasure map plugged in.
-
1 ReplyIt's obviously RNG because I've gotten red bars consistently and my clan mates have struggled as well
-
11 RepliesWhen playing long stretches of playlist activities red borders drop often. Are you talking about seasonal weapons or raid weapons? Your post is unclear what exactly you are talking about.
-
Crafting weapons are breaking the game. That's why the drop rates are low.

Personally, I think many of the weapons require way too many red borders to unlock in the first place. 2 or 3 at the most to unlock a pattern makes sense. Season of the haunted felt super grindy to me. Mostly I am talking about the leviathan. Lucky for me, I mostly HATE crafted weapons. Sure there are a couple worth grabbing, but mostly I feel like the grinding aspect is soo bad I much rather settle for a slightly worse roll. There is grinding in game of course, some of it I actually do. Mostly though, I hate that kind of crap. Either integrate rewards in a way that doesn't force me to mindlessly 'speedrun content' over and over, or allow ANY content a small drop chance in ANY activity. Regardless of how we get there, I feel like the evolution of the game, of ALL games to be perfectly honest, should be towards disconnecting rewards from overly grindy, repetetive, or difficult content. I would like to see most bounties gone entirely. Please hear me out... The problems with bounties, many quests, and specific activities bound to certain rewards, is they take over the function of motivating & manipulating player behavior, often in an ill-conceived ways. Sometimes they actually motivate players to approach a given activity with self interest as their primary objective. A better approach would be to let the players choose activities based on the actual appeal of the activity! Without all the dumb do X to get BLANK objectives in the way, encouraging players to think in terms of team tactics and game tactics would be a lot easier (like people playing control actually capturing control points). Im not saying don't have rewards, nor am I saying to remove raid rewards from raids. Just give a small chance that they drop outside those specific activities. As far as rewarding performance, I suggest the following: create a 'master list' of fireteam friendly, 'good' tactics based on activity. Any time players fulfill these behaviors, they get rewarded. Such as: resurrecting a teammate when its a good idea to do so (not when they died out in the open with no cover, and trying to res them will just get you both killed). That kind of thing. Bungie could grow that list over time, keeping players apprised of it. Because of the nature of items (or general directives, or guardian S.O.P.), the list would naturally double as a master list of tactically appropriate behaviors within certain conditions, or activities. In other words, they would teach the players. To be clear, non of the 'behaviors' on this master list would ever require purchase. The end result of these changes, would be that players feel free to play what they want to at any given time, Bungie would (finally), get a clear picture of what players actually want to do, and rewards would finally play a part on teaching better situational tactics. As far as I can tell, Destiny doesn't teach players ANY good pvp tactics AT ALL. Like zero. I had to learn those things on youtube, and I have played since D1 beta. The crucible 'commentators' say a ton of useless crap that boils down to poorly timed 'pep' talks, utterly useless and often incorrect score and control zone updates, 'try again' comments or "yay, you won" comments. I shut of NPC voice and Music years ago. Did ANY commentator ever suggest any good tactics? Nope. The closest they got to that was awarding a "Sly Fox" award if you don't die while the other team has all three control zones in Iron Banner. Gunship

The 1 good thing about red borders this season is being able to dismantle them for the pattern. Having to get x amount of kills x5 on weapons that are mostly useless was more of a pain than getting the red borders. Was able to finish a good few weapons that I had the red borders for but the thought of grinding out all those patterns stopped me from doing

6 RepliesEdited by cycofreak3: 9/17/2022 3:41:04 PMVow of the Disciple and the other raids should be lootable without restriction. They're only useful once a month and getting 2 guaranteed red border weapons per week is far too slow given the drop rates are so poor otherwise.
-
I think weapons that have already been crafted should have a seriously reduced (maybe even 0%) drop rate and all uncrafted weapons in that set should get a small bump with every finished weapon. Also craftable weapons should have a much higher chance of getting Deepsight than uncraftable. Playing through IB last week I probably had 7-8 Deepsight Out of Bounds, but if I run as many Expeditions or Ketchcrash I'll be lucky to get even one Deepsight No Remorse from the 15 or so I'll probably have drop (I swear I get that shotgun every time). On a side note: the only weapons (and armor) that should be dropping from seasonal activities should be seasonal, the fact that there are upgrades for the star chart to increase the odds of seasonal gear is an absolute joke. I'm not running the seasonal stuff for gear that already drops from other activities, engram drops, and unfocused Umbrals. There are already enough loot pools for that stuff, the seasonal pool doesn't need to be used for that gear.

Imo the first 5 drops of a weapon should all be red. RNG is rough enough to get the weapon you want… but then add in hoping for a red weapon on top of that? Gtfo It’s made drops in general disheartening
-
3 RepliesKingfall don't drop them for -blam!-
-
I've been running Ketchcrash junk and Expedition and ran sooooo many of them even with the weapon map... still no red boarders dropping. Actually getting depressing. I don't want to grind this anymore. Ugh
-
Leveling them up needs to be shorter over all!!
-
The drop rate this season is horrible

Edited by Starkiller352: 9/17/2022 9:08:27 PMRed bar world drops should not drop from seasonal activities. It is so annoying grinding seasonal activities for hours trying to unlock the patterns just to get my 57th red bar palmyra B Edit. Also seasonal weapons obtained from the seasons pass should always be red bar

2 RepliesLol red borders for me excite me more than exotics
-
Red borders weapons not a problem. Having a witch queen main story red border weapon as reward in Expedition - that's a problem! If it's seasonal activity it's must drop only seasonal loot! Bungie must stop adding world drop loot everywhere! We already have crucible loot table, strikes loot table and gambit loot table. Separate loot to activities, stop giving people blue gear when they hit hard cap, make red border weapons a guarantee reward for completing weekly challenge is seasonal activity. Stop making your clients angry!

4 RepliesThey have changed it so the first DOE each week (I think legend) gets you one you don’t have. (Other than the rare sword). Just run DOE once a week until you have them all or the ones you want. Way less stressful.
-
It's abysmal man. I'm not chasing any red borders in seasonal mode or dares mode until they buff the rates. Very frustrating doing a seasonal activity and getting world drops over and over. Class items should not drop from these events once you get them unless in pinnacle drops.
-
Working as intended. Anything to keep you on the hamster wheel.
-
Need to be increased and/or weighted to drop for things you don't have unlocked yet.

1 ReplyDrop rates for craftable weapons could be a bit more generous. Although I just unlocked the perk at the star chart so I'm guaranteed a craftable red drop from the 1st ketch activity each week, however as you pointed out it's not guaranteed to be a weapon you need and could be one you already have crafted. Normal red border weapons drop like crazy for me and could be toned down.
