Trials of Osiris is already really unbearable to play, at least give solo players (or people with busy friends) a CHANCE to try and enjoy it.
It is getting really annoying that, when Trials comes around, I have to ask "Is there freelance?" If there isn't, I just have to barrel through the pain of matching against 2/3 stacks (which is notably not fun).
It's crazy how a gamemode that appears less than Trials has freelance every time it comes around (IB), but Trials doesn't.
Edit: the pvp elitists found my post, oh no.
I have friends who play this game, but they, unlike me, have jobs, and can't play all the time.
Freelance is good because yeah, there's a chance my team has people who don't know what they're doing, but the enemy team has that same chance.
Trials would not die if Freelance was a constant.
Carries would still be popular because those players have shown that they are good and can consistently get people to the lighthouse. Freelance lacks said consistency, but still offers an opportunity to people who don't want to do that.

2 RepliesNo, all of the "really good players" need fodder for the weekend...
-
Would love it. But the gate keep elitists want it to be team base. Even tho you don’t get anything good from trials anymore and that no one cares how much someone goes flawless 🤷
-
I’ll do you 1 better.. Give control the same rewards as trials.. if I win 35 games of control I want decent rewards as it’s a lot friggen harder to win than trials. Especially solo 👀
-
1 ReplyNo, the only reason you can q solo was because people kept begging for bungie to allow them to do. Bungie has stated that the reason they implemented solo q was to allow guardians to judge for themselves if trials is for them or not. Now you guys have rewards along with solo q and the ability to play non flawless pool on Sundays. Freelance should not be a thing as trials is meant to be a team based mode.

Destiny is an online multiplayer game the fact that solo players expect to have the same experience as a fireteam who communicates is mind boggling. Freelance is easy mode so honestly I wouldn't care its a great place for lesser skilled players to be carried.
-
No. Freelance isn’t healthy for the game mode. It’s a mode that’s designed for the play, not solo play.
-
Please no. I'd never be able to play with my trash friends again
-
No because the actual teams need easy cannon fodder to get adepts

2 RepliesYou miss the point of why solo players are allowed in Trials at all. It’s not to make Trials a casual friendly game mode. It was to fill up the player pool. Trials is a mode that cannibalizes itself, because it is hyper competitive due to the goal of winning 7 games in a row for the best loot. When it is only teams the weaker teams will never go flawless, and in the old days they may struggle to even get the 3 win reward. So the weaker teams leave, and the mode gets harder and harder for all that keep playing. Constantly chasing off the bottom percent. So Bungie finally allows solo players to play. This adds lots of players the weaker teams can beat. The rewards are restructured so all players, but especially solo players can still earn lots of rewards. With the hope that maybe they decide to create their own teams to try and go flawless. Trials can still cannibalize itself, but it’s a slower process now. Putting in a permanent feeelance will hasten the process again. I am FAR from a PvP elitist. I love my average skill player lobbies in SBMM, and don’t want to ever go back to 100% CBMM all the time. And I think unless Bungie changes the major goal of Trials, 7 win flawless passage to get to the lighthouse, then Freelance should never be a permanent option. You were only allowed in the party so it had more people. You don’t get your own private room with the same free drinks and food, just because you don’t like anyone else there.

1 ReplyI would love permanent free lance, it would keep 3 stacks sweating against other 3 stacks, and allow solo queues to actually enjoy the game mode. The ones that lose are the 2 and 3 stacks. Since they'd be forced to face other 3 stacks, instead of getting easy wins against solo queues.

Edited by DHawk12: 9/23/2022 4:12:51 AMPermanent freelance trials would destroy the standard playlist, I’m not going to list all the reasons why but that’s just a fact. That said, I actually wouldn’t mind since I find freelance more fun anyway. I’m sure bungie will include trials when “fireteam preferred matchmaking” is added next season as this matchmaking factor is going to replace freelance.

7 RepliesNope. Trials is designed as 3v3 mode. Just download official destiny 2 app and find a group/made ur own with players ur level
-
24 RepliesUhmm no? It'd literally kill normal Trials and completely change the gamemode from its original purpose which is coordinated team vs team. AND if they did that they'd need to rework the title and its gilding for carrying people which they wouldn't want to do.
-
8 RepliesAnd put it in Control. Stop artificially plumping up the cushion for teams AT THE DIRECT EXPENSE of Soloplaying.
-
5 RepliesJust remove the flawless pool. Sweats purposefully reset their cards to farm that pool
-
I'd love a Freelance Control too. Those stacks just have it too easy against us solos.
-
They probably expect you to send out friend requests when you're playing solo.

9 RepliesEdited by X A: 9/18/2022 4:44:04 PMPeople keep saying that freelance splits the player base even further. If that is true then why aren't you listening. Players are voting with their feet when the option is there. If players want to play trials in a solo queue why can't they? Ultimately you are disagreeing on having freelance because it doesn't benefit you, you prefer to have mismatched games to hopefully win easy. Perhaps stop doing trials as a stacked player and run solo to test how wonderfully brilliant you are. Just a thought

I see alot of people arguing over freelance and how it divides the already diminishing player base, instead of looking at the root of the problem. Like: why is the player base shrinking? What makes players want to play Trials? What makes trials not enjoyable? What would invite more players to play? Also Bungie in my honest opinion relies to much on data instead of actual game feedback. For example Gambit has a small player base, but how many players are playing it for the Pinnacle or exotics? If the pinnacles and exotic catlysts were taken out how many players would actually play Gambit? This is also why there is this huge feeling of disconnect from the player base because Bungie doesn't have anyone with boots on the ground actually going through all the same problems. If your own company can't enjoy their own game for more than 2 days a week what kind of confidence does that bring the players? When I try to recommend destiny 2 to someone it becomes a hand holding simulator because the new light system is atrocious, and there is so much stimulation overload that most people just give up on the exhausting process. How can a game stay healthy when new players are not joining and remaining players are canablizing each other. I really hope Bungie looks at the root problems and not just try bandaid fixes like freelance/capture zone, etc.
-
1 ReplyMore than happy to let solo's have permanent freelance buuuuuuuut then people want to split the player pool even further with flawless pool and dividing the player base of an already lesser populated game mode by 4. So basically pick one, freelance or flawless pool, because realistically the game mode won't survive in the long run with both
-
8 RepliesWe need to get rid of Freelance and the option to play Trials without a full team
-
1 ReplyYou’re just bad.
-
98 RepliesFreelance only sits a minimal player pool up even more. If you think freelance is better then you clearly have not tried to get on LFG for a team…. I MEAN IT IS A TEAM BASED GAME MODE!
-
Ask your Clan mades too play Trails with you!!!
-
No, Bungie pls. don’t do that. This Game have the Option to join a Clan. This Game is designed to connect with other guardians. DESTINY IS NOT A SOLO SHOOTER!!!
