How many times do we need to say it?
WARLOCK IS NOT THE DAMAGE CLASS! Learn to make sacrifices in your gameplay, if you want the insane neutral game and ability up time that warlock has then of course the super is gonna be weaker
English

So when did other classes not be able to ability spam and have high up time? Oh wait all classes can modify their ability up time with builds fragments and mods? Yup, so not specific to warlocks.
-

if you want the insane neutral game and ability up time that warlock has then of course the super is gonna be weaker
Tell that to literally anything but stormcaller. Everything wipes out mobs AND gets strong supers but Stormcaller.
-
How many times do you need to be told?
THERE IS NO DAMAGE CLASS
-
Stormcaller is not a support subclass. Nothing about it supports your team. Chaos reach is clearly a super meant to do damage. Stop making bad excuses.
-
Ah yes arc souls do not support the team
-
Do Arc Souls even get a single Fragment that interacts with them?
-
"Sprinting recharges your class ability"
-
Oohhh. Right that is a thing. A thing. Doesn't synergise with Getaways, because why would it, but at least it's... A single thing.
-
Edited by ACROCANTHUS: 9/17/2022 3:13:38 PMLiterally just as viable solo as it is in team. Calling it a support aspect is laughable at best. And my point still stands. The subclass is just not a support subclass. Pretending like it is, is a joke.
-
Chaos reach is meant to kill tough adds. Thats why you can aim everywhere while using it. If it was meant for single target damage like a tcrash/ blade barrage/nova it would be way harder to switch from targets to targets. Also stormcaller is probably the best add clear subclass at the moment, and you want it to ALSO be a dps monster ? Are warlocks too much used to being OP or they are just dumb ?
-
Best ad clear subclass? Tell that to Heart of Inmost Light, Striker with Armamentarium, or just striker in general with the Storm Grenades. Plus I have guns that clear mobs. Who wants to use a super for that?
-
Edited by ACROCANTHUS: 9/17/2022 2:50:51 PMOr it can aim everywhere because some bosses move and you need to track them, you know, like Rhulk. When chaos reach was first introduced, it was used to burn down primevals in gambit. That's boss damage. Pretty sure there's a vidoc where bungie devs talk about how it's going to do insane damage. That's boss damage. You can also aim your two blade barrages in different directions, does that mean it's meant for taking down two tough enemies? No it doesn't. Calling SC the best ad clear subclass is definitely an exaggeration. Sunbreaker literally locks down doors with significantly less building than stormcaller. Literally the only op thing warlocks have had recently is well. They're not dumb. You just don't care because it's not your problem that another class' abilities are falling short.

Idiot, there is no damage class. Every class does damage

Says you apparently

Edited by Infamous067: 9/16/2022 8:57:30 PMHow many times do we have to say it “warlocks were never designed to be a supportive class”. Back in D1 warlocks were the dps kings because of nova bombs, this supportive role BS was forced on warlocks at the beginning of D2 because everyone complained how all classes felt the same and the game lacked supportive playstyles. I never picked warlock back in D1 to be a support bot, I chose warlock because I wanted to spam supers as much as possible and deal big boss damage. Hence the nova bomb. Back when chaos reach was released, it dealt a ton of damage with geomags, it was sitting at the top and out of nowhere the pvp crybabies got the geomags nerfed and then you all cried some more and got it nerfed again and because for the heck of it bungie nerfed it one last time which was the nail in the coffin. The last nerf is what killed the super because it meant doing more ticks to get kills which means less overall damage. But sure you go ahead and be delusional and probably say chaos reach is an add clear super, if that was the case then Stormcaller wouldn’t exist lol.
-
As soon as you say "Back in D1" you take the loss here. This ain't frigging D1. That's not an argument.
-
The point still stands though, the Nova Bomb still exists and is better than it was in D1. Well is the only support option for warlock. Just as invis/tether is for hunter and bubble is for Titan. We don't call any of them support classes for having a single subclass designed for support.
-
Bubble has been nerfed completely out of the meta. "Who's bringing Bubble? " is something you haven't heard spoken in like over a year. Support Titan? No not a thing.
-
Edited by The Hermit IX: 9/19/2022 6:31:34 AMRegardless of it’s ability to function it’s still designed for support and so is tether. I get so tired of reading players trying to pigeon hole Warlocks as a support class. Warlock Void and Stasis are 2 of the most powerful subclasses in the game. Players that insist on saying Warlock is support don’t know how to play a Warlock properly and are newb Hunter class mains.
-
I get so tired of reading players trying to pigeon hole Warlocks as a support class.
I never called Warlock a "support class" so....fine. That's cool with me. Has nothing to do with my arguments.
Warlock Void and Stasis are 2 of the most powerful subclasses in the game.
Exactly so what's the problem? Does EVERY Warlock sublcass need to be OP and top tier in DPS? Apparently so lol. Screw balance!
-
Warlocks were literally created to be the damage class as glass cannons. Problem is everyone complained so now they are glass without the cannon lmao. Hunters were meant to be assassin/gun focused with getting in and out while dealing with high precision based damage with a focus on getting in and out of combat as needed. Titans were tanks who got way more defense but also a sturdy offense while being front line and aggressive. Warlocks were damage with little defense but good recovery. I mean in D1 these roles were very solid, shoot even in part of D2 they were at least okay but now it’s all mixed up. Hunters can tank for themselves pretty damn well, be front OR back line, get in and out and deal more damage than any other class whether it be precision focused or over a wide area. I’m not saying they don’t need help in certain areas, but simply that they, in general, are the best at everything. That’s why they’re the most popular class. Titans are still tanky and have decent damage. They probably are the only ones -blam!- kept their identity. But again definitely need help in some areas (looking st you, Behemoth). Warlocks are skinny legged floofers who have been nerfed into oblivion outside of well of radiance and nova warp (with nova warp finally being brought back up to speed after YEARS). Void walker is the only genuinely well functioning subclass left in all content. The rest struggle deeply in one or more areas. And for those who say they are support, one super on one subclass doesn’t make them support. Every class has one support oriented super and supportive aspects within that particular subclass. That’s it.
-
I appreciate your well thought out argument
-
Edited by The Hermit IX: 9/16/2022 7:46:46 PMThat’s an absurd statement. Is Nova Bomb a support? Please. Every class has both damage and support builds. Tether? Bubble? Chaos Reach is meant to do chunk damage. That’s it purpose and it does need a buff. Obviously not a 30% buff like the OP has stated. Bungie has already stated they’re looking at it. You neglect your Warlock so that says it all.
-
1. If this is the case, hunters and titans have to give up all healing abilities since they’re not the healing class. 2. If we aren’t allowed to deal damage, then why were we given chaos reach in the first place? A single target damage super seems like it’s intended to deal DAMAGE
-
You can deal damage, but the point is that's just not warlocks specialty, and people can't seem to accept that. Every class can do Similar things but some classes do it better than the others.
