I've just returned to the game having not played since 2018, and used to use Gunslinger mainly for PvE, and Nightstalker for PvP as they were the most "meta" subclasses at the time. Obviously things will have changed since I last played, so which subclasses are most used in endgame PvE at the moment? PvP I'm not too concerned about as I'm not planning on jumping into that side of the game straight away, but would be interested in the PvE side.
Thanks.

Well since bungie gave them a nova bomb in a stick, I'd say its that

4 Repliesyou live a sad life if you just use meta...nobody plays for fun anymore and it's just shameful

Arc is pretty nice rn for hunter Here my load out, obviously you can change weapon mods and stuff to fit ur Olay style, main thing is the super fragments and aspects, use combination blow melee everything else you can spec out ur self https://dim.gg/3ele2vq/Liars-handshake

I saw this arc hunter running that crosscounter with I forget what armor piece. But he was using it like every 3 or 4 seconds straight clearing adds!

Edited by Infamous067: 9/9/2022 11:40:20 PMPvp? Literally anything you want, hunters are currently living the life in pvp. Void is busted with invis and the recent exotic just broke them, solar is absurd with the ability to run a max 10% damage boost from being radiant 24/7. Arc is probably the most balanced when compared to titans and warlocks although the super was recently busted with the 90% damage resist but thankfully got adjusted not too long ago. As for stasis? I would say thats currently the weakest hunter subclass however its still a ton of fun if using the bakris or the exotic that grants a small damage resist when inside the stasis grenade. Have fun with it, hunters are having a good time. Titans have arc, solar and void too which are just as viable but are more limited with exotics. Warlocks? Void is god tier, solar is honestly trash and hands down the worse pvp class in the game. Stasis warlock is pretty good in pvp but that one requires a bit of skill when trying to use the melee however the exotic gauntlets exist and using the stasis grenades are actually god tier if you face players that don’t know how to jump and arc is not bad but could use a very small buff in the arc buddy department. Mind you all my statements are for PVP. When it gets to pve, every single class is god tier.

1 ReplyEdited by The icon of sin: 9/9/2022 11:10:39 AMFor pve: All of em work imo, just pick a flavour with star eater scales i guess. For pvp: kind of the same thing all of em work, arc is pretty good, dont use gathering storm though arc staff is better. Solar isnt a bad pick either, played against a intersting build yesterday with double proxy knives, kinda wanna try it myself. Void is also great, spam invis to avoid enemy aim assist. works well with bows.

titan or warlock are the most op hunter subclasses
-
Blade barrage and the new arc one with stareaters are two of the highest dps supers. If you look it up on YT, some testing have been done to compare all the supers etc. Oh and orpheus rigs + shadowshot is still good, so is S&S for ad clear tbf
-
Probably Blade Barrage with Shards, good for dps and add clear now although I’m having an absolute blast using Lucky Raspberry and jolting nades at the moment
-
In PvE, Blade Barrage is stupidly good for DPS, even more so than Celestial, as long as you manage to get all the blades to stick. Quiver tether is also pretty high up in DPS now too, though idk what it's damage is in comparison to Celestial and BB. Revenant as a whole is more for PvP than PvE, but it's still adequate in both gamemodes. I haven't had a chance to try out Arcstrider 3.0 yet. Will try to get around to buildcrafting with it in time.

2 RepliesMy take as a hunter main is that for boss DPS you definitely want to use blade barrage hunter. With Star Eater Scales it is the top DPS. The solar hunter kit is also really great for ad clear, especially if you use Caliban's hand to get ignitions off. Think of solar hunter as your aggressor kit for really tearing up ads and bosses. For a more support role, I would suggest void hunter. The weakening more or less on demand and invis will always be strong for end game. You can bring in omnioculus for a more defensive build or gyrfalcon for a more aggressive setup. Think of void hunter as more of an assassin kit targeted at taking down champions.

A lot of invisible Hunters in the Crucible. Cheap....really cheap.

1 ReplyArc Titan

I think it comes down to what you like and what you got to work with and what you want to work towards. The new arc super (you got pole dancer and it’s integrated the flag girl spinning/blocking thing, the new one is where you Achilles throw a spear at the baddies and it goes all Heavy Metal album cover and shocks the enemies, and you can stab it into a big bad and it carries it with them. Void is still good (not blade dancer of course, but the invisible -blam!- route) you can go either straight invisible -blam!- with tether arrow, OR purple Bow using Megumine (…super super tempted to delete my warlock and make a female human warlock…) Solar is pocket Gjallerhorn/solar nova shotgun shruikens where you smash a single target with a whole lot of “burn those -blam!-” or a general “to whom it may concern” by dragging your reticle over a spread of enemies.

3 RepliesYou shouldn’t have come back.

3 RepliesSolar, Arc and Void are all pretty solid. Orpheus + Mobius for Tether is really good and invis is almost always helpful. Void grenades with weaken are a nice option too. Solar has 2 options for super: Celestial Nighthawk is solid, fast, and requires 0 setup outside of your exotic slot. Blade barrage can work better without an exotic, but does top tier damage with star-eater scales. Infinite throwing knives are great, but Solar hunter lacks a lot of defensive utility or strong grenades. Best option is just to run healing Grenade if you don’t mind it. Arc’s new super is very strong and gets better with Star-eaters. Melee focus works in raids but not in GMs. Shinobu’s Vow spam with jolting grenades is actually a really weird but strong build for higher end content (especially this season). Even revenant can have some decent utility/crowd control in high level content.
-
Whatever you choose!(maybe not stasis tho) Solar has a lot of options, blade barrage is the best super for it Exotic choices are Young Ahamkaras spine=infinite nades Calibans hand=infinite ignitions Star eaters=insane dps Arc has a nice infinite powerful melee kit, but also has some good grenade Builds, gathering storm is the best pve super Exotics Lucky raspberry Shinobus vow Assassins cowl Liars handshake Void is a nice utility with weakening and nice survivabitly in invis and a nice super in moebius quiver Exotics Omnioculus Gyrfalcons hauberk Stasis now fells lacking but has a nice utility in slowing and freezing. Basically only good with renewal grasps for the damage resistance
-
Honestly they all good Stasis little less
-
8 Repliesreading the coments such a shame people dont use stasis, they murdered this subclass
-
You really can’t go wrong with either subclass, but I would say solar and void are the top 2
-
2 RepliesHonestly all are viable. Highest dps is star eater with blade barrage and the new arc storm super is close too. General unfitly and what I think is best is void. Hunter PvE is actually in a good state and there are end game builds for all elements.
-
I run a luckyraspberry grenade build chunking constant grenades. Smg with demolitionist and adrenaline junkie for the rare times I don’t have a grenade back instantly.
-
For PvE I'll run all three subclasses without any issue. As for PvP I'm a gunslinger until the day I die. Then my ghost will revive me and I'll keep being a gunslinger.
-
just run da sweet sweet bidnezz and you'll be meta abruhbro brahlincoln
-
PvE all of the Light subs are good, Stasis not as much. Arc has good ad clear through the melee loop, and solid damage on the super. Solar has a REALLY high super damage through Blade Barrage on Star Eaters. The neutral has okay damage, or can swap for okay healing. Void has a really good super for burst damage, and a lot of survivability through Invis. Stasis isn't great, but it gets solid crowd control on its kit.
-
Arc 3.0 is popular right now because it's new, but really gunslinger and nightstalker are probably better for pve IMO. Nightstalker is great for survivability and team support with invis, plus the revamped super does pretty solid boss dps. It's my go-to for hunter and has been for a long time now Goldie has great ability spam potential and blade barrage is good for dps again which is nice. Healing nades take getting used to, but are pretty handy once you get the hang of it given that solar hunter can be a bit of a glass cannon without some kind of healing. Personally I prefer nightstalker, but that's just one guardians opinion. With the right setup I feel like I can go into pretty much any activity and do well. P.s.- if you're lucky enough to get the dares of eternity void sword with repulsor brace, try it with the nightstalker 'trappers ambush' aspect. It's a fun time
