My only complaint is that the new Oryx DPS mechanic is a little awkward, since he just floats there, letting you DPS him with his chest open. Other bosses it was a weakness thing that they used and you can exploit, here it's just a damage point that is on Oryx that Oryx wants you to shoot. Scourge final boss was a proper stun, the servitor couldn't do much and was stunned until it could get a hold of its bomb again. You had to weaken Rhulk to damage him, and he became more aggressive. Oryx just floats there like "come on down to Oryx's shooting gallery, put in your blights and I'll let you shoot my chest for a fixed amount of time!"

 • There is a bit of an animation when he recoils, but it's more obvious when he's at the back of the room for final stand. Technically we are in space so him just floating there isn't too weird to me

 • Yeah wish there was some animation of him in pain or something during that bit, but still a fun fight

 • So detonating the bombs that the ogres drop and killing the knights that try to eat them is not a stun mechanic.

 • It staggers him out of the wipe mechanic, sure, but then he just.... sits there staring at you afterwards whilst 6 guardians rail his worm. Its something I noticed as well, and as much as the encounter is improved by having a proper DPS window, it does feel a tad awkward

 • So does scourge boss once you stun him he stands there and you shoot his crit spot.

 • Thats because it gets fully stunned, not just staggered, as signified by it kneeling down, temporarily disabled. Oryx does nothing like that. Not a deal-breaker of course. Its still a great fight. Just something I noticed, a very minor critique in the grand scheme of things.

 • Lol there's no difference. If anything oryx is way more work than scourge. Shoot a stun spot vs ogre, knight and timing of detention. Your just being hypocritical for sake of it.

 • Oryx just sits there and stares at you. The Scourge boss is clearly disabled for the duration of the DPS window. Its a clear and obvious difference. More to the point, I'm not comparing the actual mechanics of the boss fights themselves and have explicitly said the Oryx boss fight as a whole is brilliant. Chill out and read whats actually been written lol.

 • Theres no point in him doing anything really, you have a aura of imortallity. Also this 100% beats how it worked in d1.

 • Every destiny boss basically. Only rhulk isnt a sitting duck waiting for bullets, rockets and space magic to hit him.

 • Tbf Atheon dances around, as does Warpriest.

 • Moving two step to the left or right isnt really what i call "moving and dodging" Especially if you compare it to rhulk dashing, and following players. Warpriedt basically spends 90% of his time not moving. Especially if you dps him from the top right (he will not move at all) And atheon just moves a bit to the left or right and isnt really a threat. But they are both old raids so thats something normal. I just expect new raid bosses to be more like rhulk where the dps phase isnt just us standing still in a well of radiance and shooting at a wall

 • Atheons movement can make hitting his crit spot trickier than a lot of other bosses. Kinda the same for WP although you are correct that good DPS placement counterracts that, aye. And yes, agreed, Rhulks damage phase antics are refreshingly different to every other boss.

 • Missing crits when divs exists is tough x) Especially on a boss that takes more damage from abilities that you can spam during his dps phase But yeah i would love to see more rhulk damage phases In day one it was really fun to die because of the boss instead of dying because of a lack of dps/strat failed

 • Aye, Divinity does nullify a lot of stuff though, certainly makes Rhulk a lot easier too lol. Wonder if Bungie regret releasing that thing into the game...

 • Honestly when i see rhulk. When i see how the day one rhulk was. It was 100% designed with divinity in mind. Divinity is in the same category as well of radiance. Way WAY too good for this game x)

 • Well the blights are the things stunning him but yeah an animation to make it actually seem like he was stunned and not just chillin would've been nice lmao

 • The stun animation happens during the actual explosion. It's just hard to see because of the white screen effect.

 • I really hate how he went from a danger you couldn't kill with weaponry alone in D1 to just another bullet sponge in D2.
